Hello everyone..

I have never done Callanetics and I am very interested.
I would love opinions on which DVD is the easiest for a beginner?

I have not done any exercise truly except walking in quite some time..

thank you!
Cary~

I took out the beginner callanetics from the library. And I also have 10/10. If you have any issues with knees or back the beginner is a good place to start. Other than that go with 10/10

Hi Cary &
Your bet would be either Beginning Callanetics or 10 years in 10 hours dvd. Beginning callanetics is great for people who are just starting out. 10/10 is great also, heck all of Callanetics DVD's, books are great!!

Marsha,
Take your legs down as you get stronger, if you do it too soon you will be putting pressure on your back. Slowly build up strength and then take them down,GENTLY!!!!! Oh only half inch to an inch at a time. Good God i sound just like Callan!!!!

Whoo hoo!

siamesegirl - there are no instructors near me either, but I was checking places to fly to so I could attend a class... wrapped around a mini-vacation or business trip of course! Let me know where you end up and maybe I can go too! I have my passport so Canada and England are good for me!

Question

Does Callanetics help with that ugly fat that you get under your armpits. You know the stuff that looks like you have an extra boob on each side? I don't even know when I got this, but I want it gone. It's UGLY!

LOL!!! I have this too. I asked the same question earlier. Agnes gave some suggestions on the exercises to try. See below

Basically you will be able to tighten everything: the underarm, actually the entire arm, and the area between your arms and breasts. These areas will all tighten as one unit. I have discovered muscles between my arms and breasts that I never had before!

Make sure when you are doing the underarm exercises:
Lift your arms as high as possible and that will be the level where you start and will be pulsing.
Try to get the thumbs to touch each other all the way long.
Let gravity pull your shoulders down, try to relax your shoulders - and still keep the arms at that ULTIMATE HIGHEST LEVEL!

An idea:
Work up to 50 'up and down' pulses, then do 10 arm rolls (you just simply roll your entire arms with straightened elbows in as far as they go, and then out (one 'in and out' will count as one) - still holding your arms as high and as close to each other as possible, and then do another 50 pulses 'in and out' or 'up and down' if you can. Don't let your arms lower or get further away from each other, or your shoulders to pull up. Keep reminding yourself! Huh, that will be hard work!

Agnes

I want to look and feel better for my 20th high school reunion in June. I was in amazing shape at my 10th yr reunion (was running 30-40 miles per week at the time, size 6) so if I can look half as good as then I'll be happy. I'm not running that much anymore, mostly I'm walking 6x/wk but I am using Callanetics 3x/wk to help get back in shape.

Hello all! I came across this board when I was searching for things about the FIRM...I thought to myself..."What is Callanetics?" I've been lurking around for about a week, reading all of the challenge boards from way back when till now....I am totally amazed by the results I've seen and the support that people get from everyone of this thread. I bought the 10/10 book and got the DVD in today......1 hr complete!!!! I couldn't do all of the pulses for the exercise, but I was able to do all of them! I need to fine tune my form since I have an idea of what the exercises are like now..... I'm going to go back and read these boards for tips/techniques... I found the music in the video extremely relaxing and destressing. I'm a teacher and I am always very stessed at the end of the day...this calmed me, even though I felt like a noodle afterwards! SO GLAD I FOUND THIS!!!

Good evening all...and welcome those that have been drawn in by our trackter beam. We do offer the warning that Callanetics is one of the most addictive substances known to man. Completed CallaneticsEvolution, totals 15 hours 10/10, 35 hours all together since Feb 1. Oh yes, I have to add. This afternoon, I did my first Turbo Jam-the Learn & Burn. Then for some masochistic reason, I did Kathy Smith's Matrix Power walk. My abs are so sore! Think I'm going to like Turbo Jam.

Hi Everyone,

Just finished my first hour of Callanetics. I could really say first half hour, cause I couldn't do half of it. Was very interesting. I found out stuff about my body doing this tape.
#1. I am stronger on the right side of my body then the left
#2. My lower back is out of whack (hoping all the stretching will help that)
#3. I don't have stomach muscles
#4. I can't wait to do it again

Thanks for putting me onto this great tape. I have to find time to take pictures sometime today. That is SCARY...
