Tony Little Gazelle

Just a quick question for you guys
Have any of you used this equipment?
My friend was over this evening and she wants to sell hers for $40 she said that it's not kind on her knee and it's a really rough workout and she could only do 2 minutes.
I have had two kids (my youngest being 3 1/2 months) and lets just say the body needs some MAJOR work as I was heavy before even being pregnant.
I know that I have to exercise due to having thyroid issues (on levothroid) and I have a very hard time losing weight so I know that exercise is the way to go! (that with a huge change in my eating too of course)
One other thing, I have fibromyalgia and for those of you that suffer from it know that it's pretty debilitating at times.
So, my question to others with chronic pain - How was this equipment on your joints etc.?
I have a treadmill and plan on walking outside, got myself some resistance bands as well and some weights (light ones) I want to make 2008 the year that I take my life back.
Is the Gazelle something that you would recommend? or do you think I should just stick to the walking outside, treadmill, WATP videos, weights?
Thanks in advance!

I have one that I combine with eight training and the Ab Lounge when I am working out at home. I also started going to the gym and having the option to work out at home or at the gym is GREAT!!!

I worked myself up from being able to do 5 minutes at a time to 30 minutes. I got toning results really fast too because it works the whole body...........

I have one myself. And I LOVE LOVE IT!!!! I too worked myself up on it I can do up to 5 miles on it with no problems at all now. I was worried that it would bother my back and I am so happy that it doesn't.

OHHHH TONY!

I love infomercials and my mom let me buy the gazelle with her CC for only $15 plus S&H. WHAT A DEAL! So we got it, set it up and I don't think she's used it hardly. Turns out it was only $15 for one month...total cost in the end...almost $400!

I now hate Tony Little.

Lol, but oddly enough we talked recently about it and I'm going to her house to pick it up this weekend. I also wanted the option to work out at home. Gym is to expensive at the moment, there is about a foot of snow on the ground and our apartment's work out facility sits in the desolate basement that is no where near people, so it's pretty much an attackers heaven. Yuck, makes me want to puke thinking about it.

I am looking forward to having it. I have used it a couple times and I can see how it would do "some" good...I've really only played around. But you do use your own body weight as resistance and there are ways to move around to work other parts of your body. While I think that a TM or an elipitcal would offer a better workout, I think something is better than nothing. And it'll be good to have something for the winter. Can't hurt to try it and if you don't like it, sell it someone else!

I love mine....I am very much in shape but you can vary your workout to use it at all fitness levels. I "run" on mine now, and combine it with toning exercises. I don't use it much in the summer because I am outside for all my exercise in the summer, so just getting back into it and working hard and my thighs are SOOOOOO sore right now becuase I was doing really long strides.

Hi MM!

My husband bought me one 2 years ago as I am recovering from cancer and needed to build myself back up.

I have BAD knees and Fibromyalgia and the Gazelle is the only thing I can do without killing myself because I put NO pressure on my knees. Even walking hurts me sometimes and I can't get to a pool (the best option), so the Gazelle for me is great.

I've talked with all my drs (from cancer drs to endocrinologists to orthopedic drs) and they all agree the Gazelle is a great non-impact form of aoerobic exercise and to use it.

I do recommend working UP slowly so as not to trigger a Fibro flare.

For me, it was so fun and easy, (I glide on it to music) that I timed myself and had to make myself stop to protect myself from the Fibro crash. Then, I worked myself up slowly and it helped.

I started with 5 minutes every other day.

Also, you can increase the INTENSITY by how hard you swing your legs. And some models have resistance bars. I have not used those, but I had worked up to swinging my legs pretty high! And then I quit using it.

That was last year, I now need to start all over again and work up using it. Right now it's in the basement and it's SOOOO cold down there.

I had one of the models that didn't have the adjustable pistons (or whatever it is) that could make your workout harder if you wanted to. Mine was a plain model.

I was all excited when I first got it, and used it regularly all winter the first winter. I thought I was really getting in great condition from using it (I had worked up to being able to be on it for 45min-1hr.)--but when spring came and I started walking outdoors again, it was as if I'd never done anything. I was very disappointed in that.

I have a touch of fibro, and found that the Gazelle did not cause me to hurt.

I enjoyed it the first winter, but after not really getting into the great condition I thought I was, I pretty much stopped using it after that, and passed it on to my daughter for my grandchildren to use.

Hey, but for $40., you really can't go wrong in trying it and seeing what it does for you.

That's a steal for $40.00 take it. I have one and my friend has one she did hers religiously and lost a good amount of weight.

I don't do mine like I should but I know it's a great workout and it's good on your joints .

I'm going to start doing mine like I should. Buy it!!

I loved mine when I first started exercising. It was the basic, non-adjustable model, but it really gave me a great workout for about 2 months. And it hurt my feet, too!

my feet hurt too, more than anything else I could manage only 10 mins before the feet felt like they were going to combust! I kept with it and the feet eased off after a short while, must have been the weight on them!
Haven't been on my gazelle or treadmill for ages and i really could see the difference you all have inspired me to dust them off and start again...onwards and upwards!

I had one when i lived at home. I didnt have room for it when I moved out so I gave it to my dad. Then my fiance and i bought a used elliptical. I dont like it because its hard on my knees. So I went and bought a Gazelle Edge at Walmart for $85. I LOVE IT and its not hard on my knees. I tell myself I can watch TV while I use it and ONLY when I use it.

It's not hard on my knees, either, but like a few other people have posted, it kind of hurts my feet too after I've been on it for awhile, even though I wear good sneakers. Overall, I like it a lot and will continue to use it, because it tones the whole body

I bought a Gazelle three years ago...didn't use it too much until June of 07...now I can't get by a day without it! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!!! I have VERY bad arthritis in both knees...surgery on one about eight years ago to remove cartiledge, and Dr has suggested I have both knee joints replaced...don't want to go there if I can help it. I have constant knee pain, day and night, but losing over 40 lbs has helped a lot and the exercise seems to help also. The Gazelle is very low impact, and FUN! I started out at about five minutes and now do about 45 minutes at one time. My knee joints do start to burn after that, so have kept to about 45 minutes and do other exercises while sitting.

One of the easiest ways to start a workout with my knee problems is to start "swinging" one leg at a time for about 30 to 45 seconds to losen the muscles. I just keep my toes on the pedal and swing gently...works GREAT for losening up AND for cooling down.

I did get some pain in my feet as I have plantar fascitis in the right arch, but that has gone away with some gentle stretching before and during use at first.

mine..... had it for years....took a while to build up, for long period of time ,was up to 40 mins everyday.I do it then quit,it's great for toning really got my arms toned back up of course legs too.I just started back using it, going to do it 30 mins everyday for a mth to see what happens, our weather is so crappy all it does is rain so it's a hit and miss to get outside to do anything ,so this is my plan so far, 30 mins done today.Of course it's not on any tension right nowThe first place I noticed ,it slimed the hips, hubby noticed right away,so thats a good thing

You defintely use different muscles with a Gazelle and when you walk. I was surprised. I think if you combined both you'd have even better muscles.
