Howdy!

Hiked 3.6 miles m-f last week and a nice 7-mile hike on Saturday for a total of 25 miles for the week. The weather has been perfect; upper 20’s overnight and mid 60’s during the day. Gotta get out there and enjoy it while we can!!

Hi can I join?

I need to start walking / moving more I have a pedometer and most days it reads only 300 steps. I want to work myself up to 10,000 setps per day.

I'm 52 and work in a office, desk job 8 to 10 hrs. 5 days a week.
Married for almost 34 yrs. and have 2 grown daughters.

I have a treadmill which I will be using in WI it gets cold, snowy & icy. We had snow showers yesterday.

I will post my steps each day.

Hiya Kalp, you didn't scare anyone (I think)
I am taking a break from walking because I have an injury due to my training for my last half marathon.
No walks for me since 3 weeks.

I miss it.

Well I didn't use the treadmill today, but went shopping this evening and that helped with my total steps for the day.

Total steps = 5075

Hi All, I've not posted in a few days, but have been walking daily...Thursday, I walked about 45 mintues at a local historical farm...lots of gently rolling hills and fun things to look at...barns, homesteads, cemetary, saw a heard of deer at one point...was a nice walk--probably 2.5-3 miles. Friday I took a half day off work, picked up my 4 great nieces/nephews and walked to the park close to their house...pushing a stroller...it was a two mile round trip, plus I was on the run constantly for two hours between playing on the equipment with the 2 1/2 year old, and shooting hoops with the older kids. I clocked 12,225 steps on the pedometer for the day! Today another niece and I got out and hiked at a local reserve, spent a couple hours in the woods--sometimes we mosied, sometimes we were walking at a pretty quick pace. I forgot my pedometer, but I'd say we hiked at least 3 miles. The highlight of that walk was seeing about 10 pileated woodpeckers in the trees just as we were heading back to the car. God always seems to give me an interesting bird sometime during my hikes--I've come to expect it now. After our walk, my niece and I spent about an hour at the new Kroger shopping and checking things out--it's supposedly the largest Kroger in the U.S. Ooooo. Ahhhhh. Don't know if that's good or bad, but shopping is definitely not done as quickly as it was in the past. Hope everyone is off to a good weekend!

Oh. I lost 2 more pounds this week!

-Jeanne

I walked 3 miles this morning, its getting pleasantly cool here in SW Florida. During the summer, I did not walk as much as I would like due to the high humidity. I am much happier on the days I am able to walk.

JeanneOH- where are you in SW Ohio? I am originally from the Dayton area. I miss all the beautiful parks and places to walk up there.

I miss shopping at Kroger's too!

Hi Kalp! Glad to have you!

Looks like we have some good mileage in this week!

I hiked 13 miles yesterday in a canyon near me. It was great! A little long (my legs are questioning me today) but I had a great time.

Great weeks everyone!

We don't have a Krogers here, I think.

Tomorrow I get a massage and then Wednesday I'm going to start walking again.
Not far but I'm going to try at least 30 minutes.

Didn't walk today--it poured rain alllllllll day, but I did do a 30 minute TurboJam DVD. Spent a couple hours walking around the mall with my step-daughter--granted, it wasn't "exercise" per se, but it was movement....time spent not sitting on the couch.

eastbruce--we're a wee bit north of Dayton...Englewood area. I love our MetroParks system--some great places to walk that are close to home. Did you ever visit Yellow Springs--that area is probably my favorite place to walk...Glen Helen, John Bryan, Clifton Gorge.... (then to Young's for ice cream...shhhhhhh...) How long ago did you move away?

I haven't posted in a while, but I have been walking! 10,000 steps a day minimum and also a 10K walk each weekend. My new shoes are wearing a spot on my ankle, but moleskin is taking care of that until they're broken in.

Alex, 13 miles, yikes! That's awesome!!

tiggerr, I hope you heal up and can get back to walking. I always grumble when I "have" to walk, but really miss it if I can't!!

Hey guys I am new out here and I am using the walk away the lbs tapes until I can walk for a full mile without stopping then i will start going outside weather permiting can I still join the thread ?????

I weigh 459lbs and can almost do the whole 1 mile dvd without stopping only 1 2 min break becaue I have a bad kknee and I don' wnat to make it worse.

I am 34years old and was really walking about 7 months ago i even did a couple of 2 mile walks with only 1 or 2 small breaks. I turn 35 on july 21st and my main goals are to get down to 400lbs and walk 5k. I don't know if I will do an actual 5k or just walk it at the 1 mile track but one of those things.

This thread is great tigger thanks for starting it and I hope you are well and can walk soon
