How many Exercise Gadgets from Info Commercials have you bought from?
Hi all. Just curious about how many exercise machines, tapes, "the easiest machine ever" have you bought and resold because you didn't like it? I was flipping through the channels and thought about all the exercise stuff I have bought and didn't like them. I would probably say I bought 10 items in my lifetime. What would you say?

Many! My dumbest purchase was the ab shocker. Remember that one?
Yeah right.....let's burn the fat off of that stomach first! Some I wish I still had as I have invested a lot of money in my home gym that I actually now use! |

I did get the "breathing" video from a woman I can't recall her name. What a waste of money.
I also got a bowflex. Best money I ever spent. I actually have 2 of them in places i spend a lot of time, home and my camper. |

I bought the Torso Track back in 2000, and sold it because I was moving out of state. It seemed pretty effective to me then! However, my body fat was too high at the time to really show all my hard work. For abdominal work, I just follow various 10-minute ab videos offered free (well no, not free - just already paid for!
) via my DVR. A lot of the machines are great, but I feel for good abdominal conditioning, all one really needs is their own body and enough room to lie down. That is all I've done for the past 6 years, and I am very satisfied with my results. ![]() |

I have a Thigh Master!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHHAAH!!!! But I didn't get it from an infomercial. Bought it once they were in the stores. I just remember those AWFUL Susan Sommers infomercials thinking, is this really meant for women? I think there's a bunch of guys stopping on this channel right now. EEEK!!!

A few years ago I bought Slim in 6. I actually did like it though....if I could find it I would probably do it again! Not the whole eating plan they lay out for you though- yeah right.
I also bought Pilates..same story there. Now I'm starting to realize I lose things easily..haha. |

yeah infomercials are so convincing sometimes, especially when they compare what the fat person looks like in comparison to the thin one. "would you like a flat tummy in just 2 weeks? then sit back relax and let us show u how" blah blah blah "and if you buy our product now you get one free" Have u noticed how none of the people can really act on these infomercials it sounds like they reading off a screen. the only one i think was really cool is Billy Blanks DVD man he knows how to work off a sweat

Nordic Track cross country ski machine - used it religiously for years and worked my way up to doing over an hour on it, usually six days a week. Realized I really needed to develop more muscle and bought a Total Gym. I have a bad back and bad knees - back injury from a car accident in the early Nineties; knees destroyed from obsessive jogging (and a possible congenital predisposition to develop the condition). So I bought the Total Gym designed for use in physical rehab establishments. LOVE IT!!! Get more results from the Total Gym than from anything else I've ever tried.
Before I bought the Total Gym, I bought the Timeworks machine. Anybody remember that one? "Eight minutes a day" (or something ludicrous) to get in shape. I could barely do four minutes on that contraption! It was like a bicycle with resistance for lower body combined with twisting your upper body in a half-circle with resistance. Bought Tae-Bo (spelling?) but it was too rough on my knees. I cannot jog anymore without injury and even some of the kicks were enough to trigger knee pain. Most recent purchase: Bow Flex Treadclimber. I've worked my way up to level 8 or 9 in resistance in the past, for twenty or more minutes; at present, I'm doing levels 1 and 2, struggling to make it to 25 minutes and it is kicking my arse! Fell for that fat blocker crap; I forget the proper name. Fell for the Phase Two Carb Blocker, too. P. S. Sheila, you look ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!! I'm SOOOO jealous! Weight machine. Gazelle. None off infomercials (did see the Gazelle there first, though.) All are now long gone. |

Lately I've seen on tv this machine that vibrates so supposedly when you stand on it, it's workign all your muscles for you. I think it's rediculous, but as I kept watching I started believing in it. That's when I knew it was time to change the channel.

I bought the Gazelle in 1998 and remember thinking it was fun. The only reason I returned it was because I was always going back to my treadmill! It's just my favorite.
The Total Gym is wonderful, too. I bought the Total Gym Platinum from QVC in 2001, and it got me started on the whole strength training thing. It's great if you don't want to bother with a gym membership! At the time I lived in NYC, and would do the Total Gym for the body, the Callanetics ab segment for my midsection, and walking on the treadmill for 20-30 minutes - each a few times per week. Zizi (love your name), thank you for saying that. ![]() |

Here's a money-saving tip -- you can pick up expensive, sometimes never used exercise equipment for a song at yard sales and through classifieds like craigslist. When someone says, "never used it, it's been the closet/basement for years" you can believe it's true!
