Week 3 Day 3 complete! On to the "crucible", WEEK 4!

GME, I would KILL for a padded track nearby. The closest one to my house is at a private school 30 miles away from my house. I could run soo much faster on one of those!!

I am lost! LOL! I can't keep up. I feel like that "I've fallen and can't get up"!! Oh, well, I'll just jump back in. I posted here someplace and tried to go back and find it so I could respond to anyone who responded to me, but darned if I can find it.

So I'll start again and try to keep up better.

I started the C25K last week. I did Day 2, Week 2 today. While I wanted to quit every single second, I did NOT! YAY! I kept running and panting and sweating and I did it! I am SO glad I don't have to do it tomorrow!! LOL!

I need the inspiration here b/c I truly hate exercising and I know I need to do it and I know that I could quit at a moment's notice.

Does it EVER get better???? Please say yes or I'm going to cut my head off and lose a quick 10 that way!!!

I find that it has gotten easier, but it is still not easy to me. I am waaaay better though than when I started. 9 weeks did not do it for me, not even close, but I am so much better now than when I started. I am just taking it day by day.

Good Afternoon all, Wow so many posts to read. I missed my run yesterday and instead ran today....week 6, day 2... Not sure if I will skip tomorrow and run Saturday or just run tomorrow.... My run went very well and believe it or not the turtle is starting to speed up....yeah! I can't believe the progress that we have all made, it is so inspiring to read all of the posts. Personally, I can't believe I'm still here and enjoying it. I find myself looking forward to the 25 minute run....sweated alot today....repeating the intervals so that I could finish my course...3.5 plus miles... I still haven't seen any weight loss, but as someone else suggested I think my legs are much more toned than they were when I started...
Good luck to everyone today.... This is a terrific program!

I am also on Week 2 Day 2 and It feels like the first two intervals are kind of rough but it seems to get better towards the end. I imagine myself chasing a skinnier hotter me lol. She turns around and tells me to keep going when I want to stop . That is how i motivate myself, and as crazy as it sounds, it works.

Now I'm REALLY confused/aggravated, etc. I have my "notify me" set to instant, yet I had to hunt down the thread, wondering why nobody had posted. Harumph.

Anyhoo, got 'er done this morning in between rain showers. We (me & dog) were lucky - it started pouring just a few minutes after we got back. I am at W6D2. Tomorrow is the big 25 minute run. YIKES! Hopefully it won't be as bad as I'm thinking. I did 21 minutes last week, so surely I can make it. Us old farts don't spring back quite as easily as you young sprouts-lol.

I might even repeat week 6 next week. I'm adding back carbs - aiming for ~50 net (more or less) and hope to see some running energy from that by Monday. If I don't feel beat to a frazzle, I'll go ahead and start week 7. We'll see...

See y'all tomorrow.

Hey, guys.

This thread is growing!

Okay, the pending question: Does it get easier?

Yes. No. Yes/No.

No pain, no gain?

But tonight when I was doing my run, I thought about what MYANV said:

VISUALIZATION.

PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!! You're a wizard!

So there I am, in my last few minutes of my second interval, and I'm thinking when do I get to recover? And then I thought: WRONG TRAIN OF THOUGHT.

SWITCH MENTAL GEARS.

I began thinking to myself: "My legs are getting stronger, leaner. See them? Feel them, Twyla? Feel them getting stronger, Twyla? Do you? Can you see it? Yes, I CAN see it......"

And the mental mantras continued, positive thoughts, repetitive, positive, motivation......!

Eureka!

It works, people!

MVANV......Thank you for sharing that with us!

No more dwelling on the negatives (sore muscles, shortness of breath, sweat, humidity, thirst, etc.)..... we think/see all that we want to become -- that we ARE becoming, with every single step.

Tonight was Day 2 of Week 6. I followed directions. I did fine. But I ran an extra 3 minute interval, and including recovery, the whole thing was 41 mins.

I'll run again on Sunday. Already looking forward to it!

Hey Twyla....I'm thinking about starting the callenetics (sp)... I'm in week 6 of the C25K. Do you think that is possible??? I'm wondering if I'm going to be too sore to run if I do it during my C25K recovery days....2x week... Or do you think I should do weight training those two days a week? I'm very overweight and really haven't seen much of a difference in my body tone with the running...but the Call seems to be a full body workout from some of the postings and photos that I have seen....

I'm not a runner by any means. I've seen this thread pop up so many times and have read the euphoria that people feel when they do. I've become so lazy the past few weeks! I miss doing cardio in general. Weight-training is great but there is always that feeling I miss when I do cardio right after.

Whatever, my reasons are, I'm going to start from the beginning with the schedule provided! I'll incorporate, bike, elliptical, as well.

Wish me luck!

Good morning all,

Finished week 6, day 3 today for my 25 minute run....actually ran for 46 minutes yippee! Wanted to see how long I could run....remember I am a turtle so it wasn't as far as I would have liked.... Need to really work on my speed, but it is difficult to speed it up with all this weight.... Anyway, glad that week six is behind me and on to week seven!!!

Just "wow". I thought 26 minutes was good, there would have been NO WAY I could have done an extra 20 on top of that. You go girl!

Nothing for me today. I'm heading to our farm and will get plenty of physical labor done there for the whole weekend. Besides, unless I want to do cross-country running, there's not any really good places to run there.

TJ, Combining your runs with Callanetics would be great. No problems there. In fact, it may HELP your runs, because Callanetics can't be beat for increasing one's flexibility, and having that is always a good thing when we know to expect tight muscles from our run.

Good luck, Lora, on the C25K challenge! You can do it!

Everyone keep up the good work. Looking forward to my next run tomorrow (Sunday).

Well I can't believe I could actually run for 3 minutes. I didn't even get tired! I started and then it was over lol. I kind of wanted to run a little more but I won't push it.

3 is a long way from 30 but things seem to be progressing well. Is there a gadget I can buy(cheap) that will tell me how far I am running? There are no distance markers where I run and I want to start running for distance.

Finished week 2 yesterday, and since it started raining as I was out there I wound up adding in my first hill work (trying to get home sooner than normal--usually I walk for a while after the run and meander up the mountain to my house).

Just downloaded the podrunner's podcast for Week 3...

Week 4 Day 2: ouch. Went out to jog with a stomachache. Time passed very quickly because I spent the whole darn run trying to block the pain in my belly.

Not the best workout....but 30 seconds (literally) after I finished my run and got in my car the heavens opened up and dumped a ton of rain. 2 minutes earlier there had been bright sunshine?

Well, I did it! I've completed Day 3 of Week 6. I began tonight's run in a quasi bad mood .... almost had to push myself out the door. I knew with this mindset it would defeat me before I began. So I had to play some mindgames a bit at first. And then when my second wind hit, I knew I was home free.

The podmaster "rang the bell," and she just kept running....!

Walked 5 mins
Ran 29 mins
Walked 4 mins

I can do this because I choose to.
