Tonight its W4D1

I've been progressing really well. Slight soreness after each day of C25k but usually fully recovered by the next time.

So.... looking at the weekly schedule.

Week 4 seems to kick it up a notch. uh oh

Today was week 5, day 2, I am redoing this one as I couldn't do 8 minutes, not sure why. I can do 5 but couldn't break through.

Now, I hear people say that they have this place that once they break through the have just this feeling that they could run forever, when do you get there?

I want to get back on track. I have been sidelined with a leg injury-soreness. I may attempt a less intense week, like week 1 or 2, tomorrow, to get me started again.

Completed C25K Week 2 tonight, can't remember which session. But I was pumped and ran two extra intervals, even though it says not to.

I had to.

So maybe it's time to move on to Week 3.

Really loving this.

Okay. I feel an addiction coming on....! What to do?

Tried the first session of Week 3 on the podcast today. I misunderstood when I began. I thought it was going to alternate 90/90 with 3 min/3 min, for six intervals. Not.

So it was great, and I made it for the 3-min runs, but it was not long enough in duration for my cardio target. So I just ran a few extra intervals.

Gonna stick with Week 3 for one full week, and see how I feel, whether I should advance or not. But regardless, I plan to run a full 30 mins each time I do it, even if it means adding intervals. Eventually I hope to figure out how to make my own podcasts set to my own music.

Was out of town and had forgotten to download music for Week 6. I ran W5D3 again. It was easier the 2nd time. I am still surprised how the progress is just happening. It's way cool.

You "run" with it. (I don't know if anyone else thinks I'm funny, but I crack myself up).

Ok gals (& guys), I am technically a C25K "graduate" but I am far from being an accomplished runner. I poked around other running threads, but they are a little advanced for me (I'm sure they would have been nice to me though). My first 5K isn't until November and I still have a lot of work to do, so I think I'll keep posting here.

The last week of C25K is 30 min runs and I can do that, but I am not getting 3 miles. I kicked around the idea of doing a 5k training program but they looked a little complicated. I'd like to lose some more weight and build my endurance before I start anything like that. So I decided on a program called One Hour Runner. It takes you from running 30 straight minutes to 60 minutes. I finished week 2 this morning and my time is getting a little better.

I have a course planned out where I run to a point 1.86 miles out and then back for a total of 3.72 miles. I do my warm-up walk and then I run until my 30 minutes is up and then walk the rest back. When I started running I didn't even make it to the turn around point. Then I could just make it, then I had 2 min or so left to run, etc...... Today I had 6.5 minutes left to run when I turned around. That felt pretty good AND I had stopped to pick up several seashells and pet a really pretty yellow lab (can you tell I will probably never be a serious competitor?)

Anyway, I like it here. I love hearing how people are progressing and doing things they didn't think they could. Running is empowering.

And secondly, you CAN'T leave this thread, got it? You brought me here, and I don't want you to leave.

Way to go on your new course/time! See? You continue to inspire. So stay here.

BTW, did any of you see Wifezilla's comment on one of the other posts on the Exercise thread, saying she runs like Phoebe? Toooooo funny!

Well, week 5, day 3, couldn't do it.

I ended up jogging about 9 minutes, walking one, jogging 4, walking 30 seconds and jogging 5.5. I just couldn't keep going, so I am just going to do it in intervals. Seems like 8 to 20 was too much for me.

Don't worry about it. If you are moving forward you are making progress. Think about all the houses you ran by, with people sitting in them, watching TV. That COULD be you, but its not.

Do W5D2 a couple more times and then try day 3 again. When you do do that 20 minute run, the feeling is amazing. I stood there, with my arms in the air, feeling just like Rocky. I could hear the song in my head.

When I'm having a tough time, I tell myself "You can go as slow as you want, you just can't quit." Like I really have a choice, miles from my home or car.

Twyla you're going to make me blush.

I did see the comment about Phoebe. I remember that episode, funny stuff.

Psigna, sorry about the leg. That stinks.

Just finished my very first day of c25k this morning. I felt a good sense of accomplishment afterwards. I wasn't sure how I'd do because I've never been much of a runner but I was able to do it without a problem. Actually, the first 2-3 one minute runs weren't too bad, the ones in the middle were hardest and the last 2 weren't bad at all. Guess I kinda got into a groove.

I think it's great! I'm so happy to have started this and for the first time in my life, I'm actually looking forward to exercise. Can't wait for day 2!

Hi guys,
I'm coming over here from the challenge thread. I was out of town and it looks like everyone moved over here.

My quick story. I started this in May but I've been out of town almost constantly since then so I haven't been able to really commit to it.

I am scheduled to run the Army 10 Mile run on October 5, so I've really got to get it together.

I started up at a modified week 3 this week, basically 2 minutes run/2 minutes walk for about 25-30 minutes.

Tomorrow I will go to the week 4 program but probably do more sets of reps so I can handle the 10 mile distance I'll have to run.

I might also try to start each day with a slow 1-mile jog before my morning shower. I'll try it Monday.

Hi, Rosie.

I'm in awe of your workout routine/commitment.

Best of luck with your October 10-Mile...you can do it. Your prep plan sounds good.

I did Week 3 Day 2 last night. I like getting in a full 30 mins when I run, so I just added a few intervals to last night's podcast. I'm going to listen ahead to the other casts to see what's next up and be prepared.

"When you do do that 20 minute run, the feeling is amazing. I stood there, with my arms in the air, feeling just like Rocky. I could hear the song in my head." (Gina)

Gina, that's where I want to be....! I want to get to that I-could-run-forever feeling.

Everyone have a great day.

I was pretty happy and proud that I did it, yes....... but also absolutely bushed.

One day last week I was asking myself if I felt like I could run forever (or all day). I decided I probably could if I stopped for lunch and took breaks like I would if I were hiking or biking or doing chores. Does that count?

This morning I did a little experiment. I've noticed that my legs feel really heavy if I don't eat some kind of fruit before I run. Seems silly because I can do anything else for hours on bacon and eggs. So this morning I had some plain yogurt (flavored with a little DaVinci's). I figured that's fairly high carb, maybe it would work. Nope, drug my backside the whole way. Two minutes slower than Friday (I did stop to show a little girl a pod of dolphins, but still).

I suppose there are much worse problems to have in the world. Especially during peach season.
