Wow, it looks like everybody is staying committed! I'm so proud of everyone, especially my fellow newbies!!!
![]() I am happy/over joyed to report that I am now up to W3 of C25K!!! Last week I worried so much about running those three minute intervals this week that I actually lost sleep! And guess what, I can actually do it!!! It's probably not the best example of form and breathing that you'll ever see but I managed to make it through!Yesterday was D1 of this week and I will be back in the gym on the treadmill tomorrow morning for W3D2. Can you guess what I'm worried about now? Yep, next week!!! 5 minutes sounds like a life time, especially when yesterday was the day that I ran the longest I've ever run in MY LIFE!! I am just going to say a lot of prayers and try to relax and enjoy becoming a runner, I know it's possible but I have yet to hit that point where I feel like I'm having a ZEN experience...like some of my running friends. *sigh* Ok, whining is over now...I'm running/moving on! ![]()

Tuesday and Wednesday I will have no chance to be at the Y... there will be no "training"... too much other stuff going on.
Today we celebrated ALL DAY with my new 12 year old! Tomorrow, I go celebrate upcoming birthdays (mine and theirs) with my girl friends. I plan on jumping right back into my schedule on Thursday with Water Aerobics and Friday with 5K training. I made a schedule for my kids and me. I blocked out 4pm to 6pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and called it 5K training. I am SERIOUS about this and want them to know that it is important to me. I'll be back Thursday and get caught up.

The "jogging movement" was started in the 1950's by Arthur Lydiard with older folks who were all cardiac patients with serious health problems who started at "zero" fitness, and he got many of them running marathons in just a few years. If they did it, so can you! Just start slowly like the couch to 5k plan shows you, and keep going. The secret is to commit and never quit! Go watch some road races or triathlons, and you will get inspired to keep going. Many people have gone from being very "obese" and completely out of shape, to successful runners and racers. The secret is persistance, and of course, sticking to your healthy low-carb lifestyle.
I am a low-carb eater and runner, I am just jumping on this forum to say if anyone has any questions or needs help with their running, I will be happy to help. I started running 1.5 years ago, when I first started I could run for about 30 minutes straight at about 10 minutes/mile. Now I run about 30 miles per week, and did my first 5k this year in 19:52. This was my first race since I was a teenager, a great accomplishment for me. My brother is an elite triathlete, so i guess we have good genetics for endurance sports! We all start somewhere, but the good news is that anyone can run, with persistance over time and with serious training, anyone can even run a 1/2 or full marathon! Your health is your greatest wealth, so keep going and don't let anyone/anything stop you! |

Pam, WOW, what a difference. CONGRATULATIONS. Has that come from running? are you following a diet as well or just running. Hopefully, when things calm down I can start running. I'm hoping that maybe next Wednesday or Thursday my DH can fix the treadmill. Two of the screws broke that go to the monitor (wiring seems to be intact) when DSIL was moving it to our house when he and Kim (DD) bought their house. The screws broke when he was putting it in their SUV, I hope that DH can fix it. He leaves for Canada for an 8 day fishing trip on the 4th of July, so I'm hoping that he can fix it before he leaves.
Tired, went to see Mom at the rehab place today, then to work, then this evening we had our 50th anniversary of our Eastern Star Chapter. Got home about an hour ago, going to head off to bed. Nite everyone.

Well, we had a thunderstorm move in just before water aerobics began... I ended up coming home and chilling with my family. I had intended to do a pilates or yoga dvd, but just lost track of time. This is why I have to make a schedule to leave the house!!
I will be going to the Y to do C25K day 3 at 4pm. Looking forward to it. I've been looking for 5ks nearby, but right now it is so hot, i cannot imaging running/walking for near an hour without passing out. I'll stick to the treadmill for now. |

I feel so accomplished right now. I decided to do my run-walk on the treadmill tonight, because I just could not face the 80% humidity.
It was so much easier for me than running on the road. My legs do not hurt as much, I could breathe the whole time, and I actually went 30 seconds longer than I had to on the last jogging interval. I know that I will still want to run outside, because that is part of the beauty of it, and if I EVER get to the point that I am accomplished enough to run a race, it will be outside, but I think that I have found a new friend again in my treadmill. I have been putting off running on it so much, and know I wonder why!!!! I just wanted to share with my family here!!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() to Pam. I'm hoping that John will fix the treadmill before he leaves on the 4th for his Canadian fishing trip. I get the biggest burst of energy around 2 in the morning, if I could walk at that time I probably would have a pretty good bod. The first summer after Kim, our DD, was born (she'll be 26 in August) I had the best body I've ever had. I'd put her in the stroller and walk about 1 1/2 mile each way to get a 32 oz diet coke at the neighborhood convience store, and we'd do that twice a day. If I could do that again, it probably wouldn't be as hard to lose weight.Hope everyone has a great Sunday. |

I've really surprised myself. I moved up to week 2 on the C25K. I had completed it twice and today, I forgot my headphones. UGH!! Well, I just hopped on that treadmill and plugged in my time and after my 5 minute warmup, I ran 2 minutes and walked 2 minutes. I did this until the last 5 minute cooldown.
Yay!! |

Hi all. I have been posting in the other C25K thread then just saw this one. I am on week 4, day 2. I just am not doing well with this week so will be repeating it next week. I have bene having real pain with my knees and found out today when I jog on the road (asphalt) it doesn't hurt as much as the sidewalk, so that will be a permanent change.
Also, I have been jogging before i eat in the mornings and fighting fatigue really hard but I didn't make the connection until this morning when I simply could not go any further. I was just dead on my feet. So I came home and saw a banana (small one, about 4 inches long) on teh counter and decided to just eat that, then went back out to finish my run. I was half way through my first 5 minute run (one 3 minute already completed). So I pushed myself through that 5 mintute run feeling dead on my feet, made it through the next 3 minute run a little easier and then the last 5 minute run, I felt good. Granted, half of it was down a gentle hill, but still, I felt good at the end and felt like I could have gone further. Apparently I need a little carb rush to fuel my run. I thought that was just a myth....maybe not for me. I did go buy 120 dollar shoes last night though so I am committed! I think I tried on 6 pairs before i found the pair that felt at home on my feet and felt good when I ran around the store. But the sales person said I really need to do some research on gait because I am hitting the ground too flat. So of to do that.

Yaaaaayyyy. The treadmill is fixed, well... as fixed as it's going to get. Son in law broke of some plastic screws that holds the monitor in place but DH said if I didn't lean on it it should be fine. And he had to re-ground it because SIL broke the ground to it. Thank God DH is good with electronics.
Soooo, tonight when I come home I can use my treadmill. I will report into you all how much I walk. I'm going to have to start back on Program 1, it has some incline that I'm not use to and it kills my back just above my tailbone. Does anyone know what you can do for that? Maybe it's just because my muscles need strengthed but it starts out feeling like it's "tired" then progresses to an ache and if I keep going it becomes horrible. Lots of activities do that to me though, not just walking. Maybe I just need my lower back muscles strenghened. But, I'm back with you guys now. Tread onnnnn |

I punched in 5K loop on the treadmill today. I walked and ran... and ran a lot!! I warmed up and cooled down, but the 5K part I did in 52 minutes. This is better than the 5K I did in April, so I'm pretty happy! Whoo hoo!!

omg, I'm sooo excited, I did a 30 minute workout on the treadmill, went 1.520 miles, 3463 steps and 181 calories burned. That's the FIRST workout that I've done in I don't know how long. A LONG TIME!!!
Now for the bad news. I weighed my black cat, Merlin and he weighs 25.6 pounds. He weighed 23.5 two years ago. I wonder if he could have a low thyroid, I'm going to take him to the vet when DH gets paid on the 20th cuz I know he's a "fat" cat but that worries me. He doesn't eat all that much (that is what I say about myself. hehe) and he sleeps a lot, I was very tired when they discovered my low thyroid in October. |
