Today will be W2D3 for me. I'm looking forward to it! Next week (W3) makes me a little nervous, but we shall see.

Happy running everyone!

W3D1 complete! I felt really strong until the last 60 seconds of the final run. But I didn't stop and I feel so accomplished.

And the best thing? My shins and knees haven't bothered me at all. Looking forward to my Tuesday run -- W3D2.

Just did W2D1. It was tough, but I finished Yay! I have to learn not to make my route such that I'm running up hill on the last run, though!

Wow, quiet here.

Did w3d1 today. Felt good but I was taking it easy. Will try to kick it up a teensy notch for d2.

I think i've sort of overdone it. I am redoing week 1 with a friend of mine at work. So, Monday and today we ran week 1. However, Sunday and Tuesday, I ran week 2. My ankle is really hurting now I'm going to rest tomorrow and run the last of week 1 on Friday then play the weekend by ear.

jeepifer: How was week3? For some reason it scares me!

cyard, I thought it was scary but it actually was okay! It's nice to have fewer "intervals" too!

That's what I was surprised I liked about week 2, less intervals.

I posted this question in the general exercise forum, but what do you all think about running shoes. How important are they? I'm running right now on my payless tennis shoes, but I'm thinking about investing in some good running shoes.

I tried C25K about a year and a half ago and got shin splints and sore knees. I was running in broken down walking shoes. I started in the same shoes this time and my big toes went numb. I got some nice Addidas shoes and I have no pains at all now.

I'm on week 4 now and can't believe I am running a total of 16 minutes with two 5 min straight runs . I can't believe how much my endurance has improved overall too. I was talking and walking up some stairs with someone the other day and didn't even begin to lose my breath.

Gina,

You are so right about shoes. My Y director suggested I get some cross trainers, because I have weak ankles. I'm not doing the C25K yet, but I'm doing a program that is a little less intense. Tomorrow will be my first day in my new cross trainers. I can't wait to see how they do!!

I just got new shoes, and I can't believe how much better I feel. My legs and feet aren't as sore and it feels easier to run.

Also, for the first pair, I highly suggest going to a reputable running store for a good fit.

Just completed W3D3 today and I felt great! I can't believe I'm running and actually enjoying it.

Saturday will begin W4 for me and I'm excited about the challenge!

I'm here! I'm doing well. Finished my week 1 redo today, and have been running week 2 in between. I know that's off program, but a friend wanted to start the program and so I did week 1 over with her. I'm loving it!

Week 4 Day 3 for me today! I think I'm going to add a couple more days to week 4. I didn't run for several days straight this week and feel like I backtracked a little.

Week 4, Day 1 for me today...and man was it tough! I made it through, but that last 60 seconds was killin' me! I think the jump from week 3 to week 4 is big. Do-able, but big!

As an accompaniment to the C25K, this is a really good book that I've started reading.

Amazon.com: The Courage To Start: A Guide To Running for Your Life: John "The Penguin" Bingham: Books

You can probably find it at the library or pick it up for less than a buck at amazon. The author also writes a regular column for Runner's World. He's hilarious!

Anyone else here read this?

Well, I bought a jogging stroller today Yay!! Now,the baby (Ok, he's 18 months, but he's still MY baby) can come with me! However, I bet it's going to be much harder to run pushing him. Do any of you gals/guys run pushing a stroller?

Finished W4D2 today and felt awesome. It was so much easier today than last time. I ran faster and stronger than I've ever run before during the last 60 seconds. That made me smile! I'm going to finish up W4 on Friday and I can't wait for W5!

Week 5 day 1 down! It wasn't bad at all- 3 five minute runs. Day 2 is eight minute runs and day 3 is a solid 20 min run . I really think I can do it though. If all goes as planned it will be Sunday morning.

Serious, I'm going to have to pick up the pace because you are tearin' it up! I started before you and you are about to pass me. It's not a race, but well....... we are running!

Cyard, no experience here with a jogging stroller. One baby is taller than me and outweighs me, and both can run circles around me . I wish I had started when they were little though. Good for you for not using a little one as an excuse not to exercise .

Yay us!

Wow, I ran week 2 day 2 yesterday with him. YIKES. It was SO much harder pushing him, but I finished and that's what's important

Week 5 scares me!
