Hey where is everyone?
Gotta be more folks than this. Jump in and tell us how you're doing....I for one need to keep moving or I'll succumb to the pumpkin pie-mashed tater-stuffing-rolls-etc.-fall-on-the-couch-and- bathe- in- insulin routine. ![]() Did W1, D3 last night, and I'll be moving to W2 on Tuesday. Trying to push my running speed a little higher too. I'm on a treadmill, so it's pretty easy to regulate and not go overboard. |

I run an a treadmill too. Some days seem easier than others. Guess it depends on how much sleep I got. When I first started my calfs hurt like hell. They are better now, but I did notice the other day they started to hurt. I'll figure it out.
Marvin I found it's easier when I go a little faster. Rose |

Rose, what I do that seemed to do the trick for me is that I started stretching as part of the warmup. I walk for 3 minutes (enough to warm up some), then stretch my calves/ankles/hamstrings then walk another couple of minutes before I start running. It seems to keep those kinks from happening for me.
Marvin.. way to go! I ran yesterday, but didn't try to run 25 minutes straight.. 2 reasons. I was tired because I didn't get enough sleep, and all they had was football on. please.. 25 minutes of watching football.. shoot me now. ![]() but, I ran 10 minutes.. then walked, then ran another 10, then walked a couple of minutes, then ran again. I intended to just walk.. but decided to do some running.. and I'm glad I did. It does something for me.. I've got to say.

I haven't ran on a treadmill since last year but it appears I will have to start doing that this week. I went to the track yesterday and it was soooooo windy! I'm going to the track again today because it will probably be the last warm day of the year. Today's high is 72 and tomorrow's high is going to be 41.
We are supposed to get some snow, too. Winter really annoys me. So anyway it appears I'll probably train most days indoors. I wish I would've started this challenge while it was warmer out. ![]()

Giving it the accountability bump.
Did W2, Day 1 last night. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Was doing some reading which advocated instead of watching the clock, visualize the changes that are happening in your body--muscles growing stronger and leaner, heart pumping more efficiently, arteries becoming "whistle clean"....we could also add blood sugars being stabilized, fat cells shrinking in a molten furnace......it seemed to help! |

Hussman Fitness One word of warning, he bashes LC diets as a "fad" and unhealthy, but I can ignore that. On the other hand, he's got lots of stuff about motivation and exercise that are good. His article: "You really do change from the inside out" was incredibly helpful to me because I wasn't losing when I first started out and I was exercising and lifting a lot. It helped me understand why. |

Did W2, D2 last night (turkey night). In addition to visualizing how my body is changing, I also would visualize myself running along a beach, and also around a beautiful mountain lake. Need to pull everything out of my bag of tricks that I can find! ![]() |

I must be weird. Sometimes I visualize that I'm an Indian being chased to the white man. I'm running through the woods and I can hear the animals all a round. If I stop I will be caught. I have to make it to my tepee. I'm weird.

Well, I did W2, D3 yesterday....I imagined myself as a "runner" and the "enemy" was coming to destroy our villages. I had six villages to reach, and had to spend 2 minutes in each one explaining the threat. Worked really great. I had enough adrenalin to kick up the speed in the last 30 seconds of my last run.
On to W3 next week! |

![]() This sounds like it would be good motivation.. but I don't think I will try it. at the speed I run, I would have to visualize either being chased by a VERY SLOW group of indians.. or being caught. ![]() so.. I think I will stick to the sexy songs.. ![]() did my 23 minutes today. didn't make it to 25 because my knee started twinging a little. but.. I was able to run faster and my heart rate stayed down. (probably overdid it a bit.. hence my knee was complaining). |

Hey Marvin tell me did you save the villages. Today I was having a picnic. I was only there for 5 minutes when out of no where a bear came. Well you know the rest of the story.
Aloise I listen to my mp3 I've down loaded the podcast. So the music is the background for my adventures. Question: The shoes I us to run are Ryka walking shoes. Someone said I should change to running shoes and go to a store that sells running stuff. I don't run that far yet so do I really need them ? Rose |

Did Week 3, day 1 last night. I was really nervous about the 3 minute runs, but I did have the energy/adrenalin for it. I put on a DVD of "The Return of the King", put on a scene "The Invasion of ??????" and found that it helped me focus as if I was one of the heroes helping to save the kingdom. Looking forward to Day 2 on Thursday.

That's awesome!
And you guys are pretty creative with your stories while you're running. I daydream about what I'm gonna feel like once I get these last 30 lbs off. It'll sure make running a lot easier. Today I'm headed to the track because it is 50 degrees. I've been running on a treadmill for the last week or so. I'm really excited to get back outdoors. I still can't believe I'm running for any length of time. Who knew running was so much fun? Have a great week! ![]() |

ohh, Des.. that green looks great on you. but.. even though I like the picture, i think you should take it again with your eyes open! I think a sexy wink would go well with the pose!
I think you look GREAT! and the pictures bring a question to mind.. what kind of jogging bra do you use? I use the Title Nine Frog Bra.. and it is great - does the job it is supposed to do, but it is a major masher. ![]() what jogging bra do you use? I like TitleNine, because they recommend sports bras depending on your cup size. Last edited by aloise : 11-29-2007 at 01:46 PM. |
