okay jogged for 25 minutes this morning. I'm going to try really hard to make sure I jog at LEAST 3 times this week. I've only been doing once a week since I moved.

Bad Lynn!

why yes.. I am Super Bad (boy am I dating myself )

well, Des.. I thinking jogging 3 days a week is a great goal and doable/ realistic.

and, I think I will repost this.. since I haven't for a while:
1) What week/day are you on? week 7
2) Are you repeating a week? yep... think I'm going to stay here for a while until 25 minutes is very comfortable.
3) Are you running for time or distance? time
4) Are you running indoors or out? indoor/gym/treadmill
5) How do you feel? GOOD!!! I think I've found something I like!

Hey everyone!

I did my first day yesterday morning. It wasn't bad at all. This time last year I was running quite a bit and was at my lowest weight. I forgot how good it feels although this morning I'm a bit sore. It's a good hurt, though. I'm actually quite excited to do my 2nd day.

For those of you that run outdoors, how do you do it when it is cold out? I know that I'm supposed to dress in layers and such. My biggest problem will be breathing in the cold air. It will be quite cold here in a month or so and I want to be prepared. I'd like to continue to run outdoors when it gets to be winter. I do have a gym membership and access to a treadmill if the weather gets too yucky. I just like the feeling of being outdoors. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Des I think 3 days is fine. Just do it. How did the move go??

Zam itrain does have some for outdoors. I think there are 3 they are based on marathron training 6:1. I run indoors on the TM. It seems to be easier on my knees and I can run right after my morning coffee without dressing for the weather. I like outdoors too.

Hayley Good for you. One day down

Aloise I'm not worried about time or distance as long as I'm running its all good. I figure the time and distance will come when the body is ready. Just remember in the mean time you are not on the couch.

I did 25 minutes today. and Zam, again, the first 10 minutes are the hardest.. then it seemed to get better the more I ran.

but.. I was ready to stop at 25 minutes.

everyone looks like they are doing great.

have a great Halloween! I'm making myself some of my own chocolates, so I'm not tempted with all the halloween candy.

Thanks Rose. When you say 6:1, does that mean run 6 minutes; walk 1 minute?

I know what you mean aloise. I ran today and like you, the first 8 - 10 minutes are the hardest. Good job on going 25 minutes!! You're doing awesome.

I had my best run today so far, since I started back into training a little over two weeks ago. I was able to run for 40 minutes straight, no stopping, no resting and now walking. It felt good.

Hayley, looking forward to hearing more about your progress. For cold weather running, they have a lot of good cold weather running clothes out there, including long pants and light weight running jackets.

Howdy!

I did my 2nd Day of Week 1. It was more difficult than the first time. I think it was because the north wind was really blowing today. I did get through it though. I'm still looking forward to the end of the program. It will be exciting to actually jog a whole 5K at once. Woo-hoo!

Hi, Hayley! Welcome to our group! I think you will love it here.

Hayley, sounds like you are doing great! The first week was hard for me, too. I think it is a big leap from that couch to the road.

but I think it gets easier as you go along. it did for me. If you've done this before, your muscle memory will kick in, I bet.

Keep us posted!

Hi guys...I am a playgrounder and newbie to couch to 5k and doing it through podcasts.

I am week 1 like Hayley doing 3 days only 1 rest day so my new week will start Sunday.

I have to say...I did 2 days,so 29 minutes 26 seconds podcast and it is KILLING my legs.Yesterday I was smarter and have loads of greenspace between myself and road stretches so I ran on much of those as I could because I am already feeling shin pain.

I was NEVER a runner before but a dancer but I am SOOOOOOO out of shape and a good 10 pounds + overweight.

I am in Montreal so the snow is going to be a challenge sooner or later.Who works around this and what kind of footwear should I look for?

Hola!

I finished my final day of week 1. It was a lot warmer this morning so I shed 2 layers of clothes and my gloves. I'm working up a good sweat with each workout. I'm looking forward to starting week 2. I haven't decided if I'll start Sunday or Monday. Since Sunday is supposed to be warmer, I suppose I should do it then. I just have to get my butt out of bed and get it done before football comes on! Go Chiefs! Go Colts!

Have a nice weekend peeps!

Everyone is doing awesome!

Way to go Hayley, seems like you have a very upbeat positive attitude about running, and are excited to get out there. Sorry about the Colts and the Cheifs though. I was shocked that the Colts couldn't pull that one out.

melsybop - I don't have any advice for you on footwear for the snow. I know they make more rugged running shoes for trail running, and it might be best to get something like that. I would find a running store that only sells running equipment and get their advice. Don't go to a big sporting goods store, they won't have people that can specifically address your needs. Running stores are the best place to get advice and to find exactly what you need. Good luck!

I had a good run yesterday afternoon. I upped my time by 10% as suggested, so instead of 50 minutes, I tried for 55 minutes. I went very slowly, but I made it the entire way and felt really good.

55 minutes is awesome! I hope I can get in that good of shape someday.

I did my first day of my 2nd week yesterday. It went really well, of course the weather helped a bit. It was so beautiful out. I'm glad I went when I did because the wind was gusting up to 40 mph today. Dang windy Kansas! I felt really good after my workout though. I'm ready for my 2nd day of week 2. And I can already feel my leg muscles start to firm up. That is so cool!

Take care all and have a good week!

But it was only 0 C on Saturday when I ran and my lungs were AWFUL.If it gets close to freezing soon I am going to have to invest in a scarf that is good for running...silk or something...

I'm nice and warm on my TM. Rain, snow, sleet, or dark of night can not stop me from running. Oh wait that the Postal Service, it's OK I worked there for to many years.

Hi Runners!

I thought I would check in. Everyone is doing great!

I am still plugging away toward a one hour run. Two times a week I am running 30-33 minutes and my long run is on Sundays and I'm up to 41 minutes. I only increase about 2 minutes per week on the long run. I really enjoy it. My thighs muscles are hard, my tush is lifting and the ab flab is noticably smaller!

So far weather hasn't been a problem. I live in Seattle so it's surprising I've only had to run a couple times in rain... I have a waterproof windbreaker but haven't found waterproof pants yet. I'll wait and see, I can also use my treadmill if I don't want to get soaked but I struggle with running indoors. If it snows I will probably not run because our snow is very wet and gets icy.

Anyway keep up the good work!!!

Sally

yesterday, did my 25 minute jog on the treadmill. then did a lower body workout.

I'm just going to stay at 25 minutes until that last 5 minutes doesn't seem so long.

and.. I probably will be treadmilling it for a while, as the cold weather is here to stay in this area, as far as I can tell.

but that's ok. better the treadmill than nothing.

It's definitely started to feel like fall/winter here in No. California too. Today is gray and chilly, but I think it will help me run better and stay cooler.

Today I'm trying to get out for my first 60 minute run in the cold.

Great job with sticking to your program aloise!

Good for you Ivyblue Let us know how it goes. when I first started It thought "OH MY GOD" I can't do this. Funny thing is you can do it and becomes fun. After awhile you will want to do some sort of jog/run every day.

HAHAHAHA... that's the way I felt, too. but.. you will be shocked how you progress.

and.. if you ever feel like one week is a bit too much, just repeat it until you feel comfortable with it. plenty here have done that.

I'm repeating the 25 minute until I have no problem with it. then.. I will try to push it to 30.

looking forward to seeing your progress, ivyblue!

Woo-hoo! You can do it! I started 3 weeks ago and I'm amazed at how my body is responding already. I can already see a difference in my legs. I've always done cardio throughout my weight loss journey but since starting this program, I've noticed more positive changes in my body and attitude.

Is it ok to do several days back to back? Right now, I feel like I could do this 5 or 6 days a week. I don't want to get burned out or injure myself but I'm having so much fun. My friend told me as long as nothing hurts or is sore that I could do it as much as I want. I guess I should just listen to my body.

Have a great week!

I def. had an easier time doing this with my old schedule.

I've been jogging only twice a week *sigh* I really need to get back into it. I hate getting up so much though.

Hello everyone!
Yo, fellow private Zam from Camp Charlie!

Started C25k today, with Week 1, Day 1:
1) What week/day are you on? week 1
2) Are you repeating a week? not planning on it
3) Are you running for time or distance? time
4) Are you running indoors or out? inside, treadmill
5) How do you feel? in the immortal words of James Brown, "I feel good......

Hope all is going
