Poking my head in quickly to say Hello....

Hi "Hoops"..welcome..

Sazzie just read your pm.., , .....

I firmly believe that exercise in general ( and..ANY form of exercising is better than none at all).. will give you way more energy!!. Funny but I used to think that I needed energy in order to exercise,..but oddly enough I discovered that its the other way around!!....Honestly I am certain that I would not be able to accomplish the amount of things that I do, during the course of a day......had it not been for my consistency with exercising!! If I had to describe myself in only Two words...It would be Energetic and Youthful!!,...as thats how good I feel.....

SS is all about "Time" and "Results. It enables me in only 7 minutes to work my upper body (without the need for weights) and certainly gives my lower half ( thys and behind) a good workout without doing squats and such... WATP / or my just walking out doors at a fast pace for 30/40 minutes in general , provides me with my cardio and the crunches I do focus in on my Core....which is the Center of everything!!....All this takes less than an hour easily!!....What more can I ask for?....Plus I feel GREAT knowing that I have just worked every part of my body ...And on the days that I only do my SS & Abs...it's even quicker!!

Its like ANYTHING else....ya have to DO it to get results!! I was not expecting magic or an instant dropping of dress sizes...Nor to Only do this and nothing else....Of course I have to continue to eat right and move more in general...nothing "new" about that...Matter of fact all I did was add this to the mix and like I already said a zillion times...I am pleased with My results

Catch you guys tomorrow...have a great evening!!

My motto.. for most everything,...is
'I don't always have to "Like it", ...All i have to do is..."DO IT"!!
There are 24 hours in a day...certainly..I can devote one of those hours... to improve my health,,,NO excuses!

Marmoura....

Awwwwww,...thank you!!.....but I'm just telling it like it is!!,..Girl if you KNEW me 2+ years ago,..and see now the kind of person I have become...its like night and day....

I was such a major, major,..pathetic Couch Potato!!...330+lbs and I Lived on junk food, mainly starchy-carby junk!...and sadly my kids did too....Funny but I was in fear that they would end up fat and unhealthy, but yet I did nothing about that for myself...I would go to work, ( 11-7) come home and in between a few household responsibilities,..I basically Vegged on the couch.....only going out...if I had to.... I got to the point where I was even sending my poor son to the store for "my daily Fix" which was at that time Potato chips, Pringles, Nutty-buddy bars..and other such garbage!!...Yup I ate like that daily,...It was "my Norm".....now how horrible is that?....

I actually started "Moving" long before I even changed my eating habits....I never shared this before, but I ordered the WATP 3 tape series and "SAT" and watched them for about a week, LOL...Yes I did say "Sat" as thats all I honestly did!! I would put one of the tapes in, sit on the couch and watch.... As sad as this sounds,..I was foolishly waiting for that "moment of motivation" to come over me....I soon realized that I Had to go to the motivation...and not the other way around!!...In other words, the motivation had to come from within,..Not from any outside source!!...Once I realized that and got moving, I felt so much better and in time I began to increase my workouts, including advancing on to other forms, such as the FIRM, Tye'bo, and even got myself a Step box. I became known as the "Exercise Queen" I then began to eliminate certain foods one at a time, until I was full blown "Low carbing"....Once I got my momentum going, and my eating under control...There was NO stopping me!!

The weight came off,...the compliments began to fly in my direction and after losing 135lbs,....I got slack...altho I still kept up my exercising.( thank Goodness for that!!) ..my eating wandered....and I stalled at 195 for a long time...then slowly crept up back over the 200lb mark...reaching 212....I am so grateful that I was able to turn myself back around before I actually regained ALL my lost weight!! I had developed something along the way....called..PRIDE...and did not, could not,..would not....revert back to where I once was!!....

Well OK I have ran my mouth enough, LOL......Thanks again for the compliment!! My best to you along this wonderful journey!!..Catch ya tomorrow....

Anna,

What a beautiful testimony! Honest and forthright, I don't doubt that you've given quite a few people the incentive to look deeper into themselves to get their own motivation.

Even when you faltered, you got yourself right back up, like a trooper would.

I don't think it matters how much weight someone wants to lose, as long as they have the proper outlook, which is something you most definitely have.

Action is the key word here, both of body and mind, and you have nailed that right on the head.

Great post!!!

I have done 3 workouts of the SS. My arms burn. I also started my T-Tapp just before I read about SS, so I've been doing that each day, too. WOW! I am feeling it.

Anna~ Thanks for sharing your story. Your right, how can we expect our kids to be healthy when we're not being healthy ourselves. Leading by example is so much more powerful than by words. You've come a long way, and I just love your attitude.

I couldn't agree more, Anna.

Something you said earlier..."Funny but I used to think that I needed energy in order to exercise,..but oddly enough I discovered that its the other way around!!...."

Last night after playing a game of squash with my DH, this became a revelation to me - and I immediately remembered your words.

Thank you for being such good support!

Laura - Please keep posting your progress - I'm sure everyone wants to know how you are doing!! Goodluck...you're beautiful!

Hi Ladies!!

Just doing a quick "drive-by" posting...

Jiggles..how are you doing? Oh and there are a couple of other gals here as well , who's names I can't recall at the moment???...darn.... but anyway,..You know who YOU are ....How are you coming along too?

For those who actually have the SS plan,...don't let this become just another thing you tried and then eventually set aside...or quickly made the decision that "This does not work",,,,...
if thats whats kinda happening,..come on...you have GOT to continue doing the exercises....and make the other changes needed...( I'm talking food choices etc)...Don't expect "Instant results",...but DO expect gradual results, because they Will come!!...

Mary~ Thank you! I will keep you all posted.

I didn't measure the day I got I started, but I do measure every week on Tuesday. The first week I only dieted. The second week I added this and T-Tapp Basic Workout Plus for the last three days of my week before I measure. Well, I lost more inches the second week and less weight. In fact, the first week when I only dieted, I lost 7 pounds, some fat and some lean muscle mass. The second week when I exercised and dieted I lost 2 1/2 pounds, but I gained lean muscle mass and lost fat. Make sense? Let me go find my post on the other thread I am on to post my measurement losses for week 2 with exercise. brb

Here was my postI only lost 2.5 pounds last week, but I lost inches and body fat in just 1 week! So, I know it is the exercising! In fact, I lost more inches last week after dropping only 2.5 pounds than I did the first week after dropping 7 pounds. Only exercised 3 days... 3 T-Tapp and 3 SS

Body Fat -1.87%
Lean Mass +2.14 pounds
Fat Mass -4.64 pounds
Chest -1.5"
Waist -1.0"
Abdomen -2.0"
Hips -1.0"
Thigh -1.0"

Yes, these are 1-week results.

G'Morning, Sassies

It hurts, Mommy, it hurts!!

I was under the weather these past couple of days, so wasn't able to do anything. My brain kept telling me, Gracie, get going, but the body wouldn't listen.

My arms and legs are actually shaking. And, of course I had to go and do it twice to try and make up for lost time.

I can well understand how SS will be successful IF you work it, and it is now on my daily list of things to do. I love the fact that you can slip this in your daily routine without sacrificing anything else planned for the day, and it doesn't leave you winded.
Now, when I get my Gazelle, that will take care of my cardio, along with my walk each day. Anyone have the Gazelle Freestyle or Supra?

Anna Your support for SS and support in general is something I look forward to each day, and if you're not on any particular day, I go back and read your posts.

Hi Ladies!!

pkdarlin,...In all honesty for me, I have to say No!! But as I already posted, I needed more of a challenge, mainly because I ( well my Abs that is..) was already used to being worked out in a more strenuous way. ( I do 200 crunches daily ) And so for me, in that regard, I will continue as I am... Now as for the arms and the lower half,..yup I highly give it a two I know others for whom SS DID improve their tummy area and it may very well do the same for you...Oh and Welcome!!..geeze..where are my manners

Sazzie...glad ya feeling better!! And I am also glad that my rambling is not boring everyone, LOL.....Girl I would not advise ya to double up again,..cause you might not be able walk or even lift your arms...

Hoops,....Fantastic results!! I like that you are so detailed ...I try to only weigh now only 1x per month, as I used to be a real "Scale Junkie", but now I weigh on the 10th..and thats it!! ( Why the 10th?,...no real reason, just kinda started that way...and stuck..)..Anyway I am fully expecting to see a decline in numbers when I do because ,I feel it in the way my clothes are fitting...

Marmoura,...~~~waves hi~~~,..How ya doing today?

Hi to everyone else!!!!!!!!!! Have a wonderful day all.. BBL...

Anna

You're so right about not doing two sets in one day.

But I did forge ahead and did my third set today.

Went bowling this morning, and before I left the house, I did a total body stretch. That's something I do, even on days I don't exercise.

Well, I tell ya, my arms were so sore, especially my tris. Guess my arms truly needed it......they don't hurt this much when I do my weighted reclining flies.....big surprise!

Am feeling it in the shoulders and back, too! Am very impressed! Since I am a power walker, I didn't feel it too much in my lower body, but did feel it.

I've only done this three times, and I'm hooked.

I've been doing this everyday for about a week, and I am wondering if there is anything else to it besides the facial exercises? What I do is set my timer for 6 minutes, doing 4 set of 25 seconds flex with 5 second relax for each of the 3 exercises.

Hoops,..I think there is an advance SS , at least thats what I heard, not really sure tho... Now if you are talking exact time, then what I do is the way she shows it ( which equals 6 minutes) 100, 100, 100 and 50 for the face = 5 minutes and 50 seconds...The remaining 70 seconds..I use for my little breaks in between each set... Total time = 7 minutes.... Gee I'm not even sure that I am answering your question.. ,...so ask again if I haven't..ok?

Sazzie,..a power walker.. ...How far and at what speed do ya normally walk? For me on a good day , when walking outdoors, say around the lake etc, I normally do 2 miles in about 25 minutes...Not sure if thats good...or bad, LOL... I figure anything under 30 minutes for 2 miles was fairly decent,...Anyway what ya think? I'd like your opinion

Hi and ~~~~waves~~~~ to everyone else

Anna,

That's more than a decent pace, that's terrific.....what?! That's almost a 12 min. mile?! Fantastic!!

I had a foot injury that kept me from walking for about 4 months, so I lost a lot of time and speed.

I am working my way back up to my normal pace. Once I do get back to normal pace, it will be 3.0-3.5mph. My normal was a 3-5 mile walk every other day, but I'm not ready for that yet.....don't want to re-injure an old injury.

I only started back about 3 weeks ago, and at first, my foot hurt big time, but as my foot has gotten a lot better, the pace has picked up a bit.

Oh, and btw, did my 4th session of SS this afternoon, and I actually got to glowing...yes, I did!

Sazzie,...

Speaking of "Glowing",....Today I decided to do my SS routine without stopping. ...What I mean is that instead of doing the 25 seconds,..relax, then reposition, repeat another 25 sec...and so on....I was in a hurry and thought,...well why not just do the full 100 seconds ( at what she calls the "Maximum" ),..then move right on to the next body part.... Anyway I started kinda backwards with lower half /my behind / legs. ...I got on my toes, pushed my pelvis as far forward as possible then squeezed like heck!! and held that pose for a full 100 seconds...... At first it was not so bad, plus I was thinking those measly few seconds / breaks in between did not matter one way or the other........Wrong!!...

Well let me tell ya...about 1/2 way thru the triceps the sweat had beaded up and was dropping off my face.... I was amazed that I worked up a sweat that fast!!...And my arms were shaking / trembling like crazy..... I felt really flushed and warm all over....In a pinch and when in a major hurry , yeah its doable,...But I am not so sure "When" I'll be doing it like that again, LOL..

Gracie~ I hope that foot gets better soon!

Anna~ Thanks! My arms were sore initially, and I do feel it mostly with the triceps. I started T-Tapp at the same time, so I wasn't sure if it was SS, T-Tapp, or a combination of the two.

I laughed so hard when I read your post....

See, we both tried to do it OUR way, and that just ain't not happenin!!

I'm skipping today, cause it's Sunday, and that's just as good a reason as any, I suppose.

Hoops I've never done T-Tapp, but when I do SS, my tris are hurting big time. I suspect it's because we gals need that area worked on most, besides the abs, of course, and the glutes, and the thighs.......

I'm perplexed about my cardio. Since I started back walking, that's fine, but I can't always get out plus it's taking a while to get back to my usual gait.

Any suggestions how to get more cardio?

Questions

I don't have the video, so perhaps someone can help me with this...

1. When doing the biceps exercise, should my elbows be by my waist or shoulder height? (I've been keeping them by my waist)

2. When doing the biceps exercise, should my hands be in front of me or out to the sides? (I've been having them out to the sides)

Gracie~ What about buying a rebounder? They are relatively inexpensive, small, and easy on the body. Just a thought. Oh, they are also great for toning muscles and burning fat!

Well Good morning Hoops, Sazzie...and Everyone else .......Geeze whew IS everyone else?????

Anyway I am an early riser ( plus I have to be to work 7am, ..whats that saying?,...Oh yeah,..."I owe..I owe..so off to work I go..LOL) Anyway just popping in to say hi and wish everyone a really great day!!

Sazzie ...I have many of the WATP tapes/dvd's.....that I use for my cardio when the weather is not so nice. I kinda look at em as sorta a "Private" exercise lesson...with a class of ...One = Me ....

Hoops, ...you are supposed to be moving your arms up in a higher position during each of the 4 movements when working your arms,, and so on...Perhaps Sazzie can pop in and explain that a little more clearer than I just did, LOL...cause I'm kinda in a hurry.....

Ok gotta run...have a wonderful day All

Hoops, I got confused with the quote thing, so just c/pasted the post that Carolyn made with a really good description of SS.
************************************************** ********

Here are some of the exercises that are on the tape..

It's all about tightening your muscles and holding it for 25 seconds..release and do this 3 more times..changing positions.

1. Your arms: hold your arms out to the side at a 90 degree angle..elbows bent and hands making a fist, facing upwards..now squeeze your arms like crazy for 25 secs and hold in your tummy..Release after 25 secs..Then move your arms 2 inches up..tighten and release..move them again, repeat, and one more time moving them like you were flexing your biceps..

2. Your triceps: bring your arms in back of you, make a fist..tighten your arms and squeeze your shoulders together..25 secs..hold..release..raise your
arms 2 inches higher, squeeze and release..On this one, you can lean your torso a bit forward..Repeat raising the arms until they are as high as they will go in back of you..Squeeze those shoulders/arms..

3. Your fanny: Stand on the floor..on the balls of your feet..have a chair a foot in front of you and use the back of the chair for balance..thrust out
your pelvis and squeeze your fanny for 25 secs..release and repeat 3 more times..You will feel it all down your leg..and as you thrust your pelvis forward you will feel it more..

This is a pretty accurate description.......

That is what I did, too, although I am still not sure about the first exercise. Does the elbow start and stay at the waist, does it start at the waist and move up, or does it start parallel to the shoulder and stay there? When she says move up, I am wondering if it is the elbow or the fist.

I just want to make sure I am doing them correctly.

Hoops

Start with your elbows parallel to your waist, and move 2 in up each time, so by the time your done with the 4th set, your elbows are parallel to your shoulders.

An analogy would be holding a baby in your arms in front of you and gradually lifting the baby in the air. Just remember the last set is parallel to your shoulders.

I so hope I explained this a bit better, so you can understand it. If not, keep asking, and I'll try to be a bit more clear.

If someone else can explain this better, please do!

Gracie~ Great explanation. Actually, the baby example is what did it! I was NOT doing them correctly. Thank you!!!!

Mary~ Ditto what Purr said, it is about 3 feet in diameter and maybe 6-9 inches off of the floor. Maybe I ought to pull mine out to use!

Hoops,

So glad that explanation helped. Now go for it, and please post your results. Am really anxious to hear how you do.

I did my 5th session today, and I am loving it. It is a serious 7 minutes.......I don't do the face, so actually it's shorter for me.

Somewhere someone posted about an electric face thingy, but no details were explained, so I'll have to look into that.

As far as a rebounder, for some reason, it doesn't appeal to me. I do avoid jumping up and down because of a sensitive knee, and it reminds me of aerobics..........I abhor aerobics. So I get my cardio with walking, and hope to get the Gazelle Sprintmaster one day, as that offers low impact cardio with pistons for resistance.

Hi everyone,

So I tried SS for the first time today (minus the face excercise one because no one has been able to explain it here)

Let me tell you - I am having difficulty typing because my arms are in so much pain!! This is definately a LOT HARDER than I thought...

The fanny excercise is great, but I don't feel the pain/strain down there as much...hmm? Could I be doing something wrong?

And - I did the 4 sets of 25 seconds for each 3 excercises (biceps, triceps, fanny)...but that only came out to 4 minutes. Am I missing something - I thought it would come out to 6 minutes at least since I'm not doing the face...?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated !
