I haven't been exercising regularly, I'm still waiting for the SS to come in the mail, but I am trying to get some walking every day- I weigh around 236 and would like to weigh somewhere between 170- 180- I don't know if I have lost inches because I haven't measured myself, I notice a little change, but I thought it would be more than what it is...when you say SS works if done properly, do you mean that it is difficult to do? Did you lose inches from doing the SS?

Doing SS builds muscle, which in turn, burns fat, and that's what you want.

By doing it properly, I mean to hold those stances as hard as you can for the full 25 seconds.

I will say that in the beginning, you may feel a bit awkward, but that will change within a short amount of time when you become familiar with the routine.

I just finished a session, and I'm hurting, and I'm not a newbie with this, so that lets me know I've done it properly.

I've got 15 lbs to lose, but my muscles need a great deal of work, and I'm post-menopausal, so I can't afford NOT do these.

I've been lax with my walking due to a chronic foot problem, but I'm determined to work around that and get me arse moving again.

I'm not working out the way I used to, but if I walk, do SS, and eat low carb, I feel wonderful and see results.

Any more questions, and I'll be happy to help you as much as I'm able.

I can't wait to get SS in the mail so I can try it- I am hoping I will not be one of the people who have problems with the shipping dept- they said they mailed it last friday, and UPS said they never gave it to them- so- I guess I will have to wait- in the meantime, even though my loss is not as much as I want it to be- I am going to keep with the low carb plan and drink plenty of water and try to get in my walking

Well, SS is definitely on the way and I should be getting it by Friday- so I can't wait to try that! I did 2 20 minute walks, and my legs and but were sore! I can't believe I am that out of shape! How is everyone else doing with the SS?

ss

I've had the program for 2 weeks and each week I've done it for 3 days and then quit I am going to start again today and stick to it if it kills. I do get sore and really feel it. I'm sure that it works if you do it everyday like you're suppose to.

Hi Jamo-

I am still patienly waiting for it to come in the mail- can you believe that? It has been almost 2 weeks since they mailed and I am so eager to start it....even if you do get really sore- that means it is definitely working- and only 7 minutes- keep me informed of how you're doing, and when I finally get it, I'll let you know how it is working out- I am going to force myself to at least spend that 7 minutes per day on myself- did you measure yourself? Keep at it and let me know how its going- we'll do it together
Circles- that is awesome- good for you!

Hey guys,

I'm trying to do the SS exercises and I have Carolyn's post from the beginning, but there is no exercise for the tummy? She only listed 3 (arms, triceps and fanny) plus the face.

Is there one for the ABS? If so, can someone explain how to do it?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

HI Mountaingirl-

I finally got the SS DVD last night in the mail, but didnt get a chance to watch it as I got home late- so- when I get a chance tonight, I am going to try it, and try to thoroughly explain to you what is done-
I am so happy for you that you are in remission- you must be a very strong lady- I think LC whole foods is the way to go also- did you ever try intermittent fasting? I am doing that in addition to the LC and it is working out great-

Talk to you later- take care!

Hey Shamrock,

I am Diabetic so I don't fast. I am glad that it works for you, but I'm not supposed to fast.

Have you found other exercises on the SS DVD that I can do for my tummy and abs?

Thanks!

Quoting myself. I had found this on another site, that describes the move for the waist..

I hope I can explain this ok...this one is for your waist area...get seated in a chair...now while keeping your knees facing forward, twist your waist to the right holding on to the side arm of the chair (or I will actually twist and hold onto the back of the chair)...while twisted you suck in your stomach and tighten the ab area...but make sure you are not holding your breath...breathe normally while doing this...now hold the position of twisting at the waist and pulling in your tummy for 25 seconds...after 25 seconds relax for a couple seconds...now once again knees forward, twist at the waist to the right and hold onto the arm of the chair, pulling in your stomach and again hold that position for another 25 seconds...once you are done with that side, switch sides...knees forward, turn at the waist and twist to the left...suck in stomach and hold that position for 25 seconds...then relax for a couple seconds and repeat for that side, holding for another 25 seconds. Very simple exercise, but I tell ya my tummy area stays sore from this. I really give it my all when doing these exercises.

What's in the Booklet?

I just received my Shapely Secrets from Ebay in the mail today, so I'm looking forward to watching it tonight. However, it didn't include the 7 Secrets to Being Thin and Shapely booklet. Can anyone tell me what those secrets are?

Thanks

kdoss-

basically- it is what everyone already knows, drink water, don't keep tempting foods in the house, she recommends eating low calorie - (which I personally do not agree with) lots of low calorie veggies etc. the most important part is the DVD showing the exercise- don't worry- you're not missing out on anything

Karen,

I've been using SS for quite awhile now, and I can attest to the fact that it works, if you work it.

It's wonderful for those wavy triceps and the bis react rather quickly.
The butt is very responsive for me, and I'm not a young chickie anymore.....post-menopausal. VERY post!
Now, I'm just getting back into my exercise routine after a hiatus, but I will be incorporating SS along with my other routines.

Hi Everyone! Haven't been around in awhile. Life just seems to keep me busy.

Yes, SS does work. I have a thyroid issue so it takes a little longer for me to see results, but I am seeing results. I have been doing the advanced SS since the first week in December pretty much every evening, and have dropped several sizes in pants. I never did the first SS as I thought it was too expensive for what you got. The Advanced was only $19.99+ shipping.

This week I ordered the Abadonda DVDs. They incorporate the breathing exercises and are still only 7 minutes. Can't wait to get them! Has anyone else tried them?

For the person who asked if they could be done sitting, I would say yes!

Ruth

I too have been wondering how well this works. Since this thread is over a year in the making (begun Dec. 2006), and there's soooo much to read, I started a second post where people can post their results.

It's here: Greer Childers -- Shapely Secrets DVD -- Results

I posted it here on the Exercise Board about 10 days ago, and although many people have read it, no one has posted their success yet. Please do so! We're all interested in knowing. Thanks!

Hi 40Winks! I don't measure. I go by how my clothes fit. The fact that I have lost three pants sizes since the first week in December pretty much says it works for me.

I do not diet at all with this and it still works!

I am guessing from your post that you have not tried it?

OK..I have another question..after reading some more posts...Some of you are saying to get the advanced tape....does that cover from head to toe? I went on the shapely secrets web site and they show lower body, upper...all over..do they sell these at Walmart too??? SORRY for all the questions

Hi Karen! The advanced does cover from head to toe. The Abandonda DVDs have upper, lower , and general. I just ordered the three Abandonda Series DVDs. This series includes the breathing that goes with them. The breathing burns more calories and the technique builds muscle just like the first two SS do. Each of the three DVDs are 7 minutes long. They should be arriving any day now so will have more info when they come. It was $29.99 for all three plus shipping. They are having a special on them on the website right now. Normally they are $19.99 each.

Hi 40winks! For me it is just much easier to reply on the main thread on Shapely Secrets. I own and run two businesses so don't usually have time to run from thread to thread. I have the main thread, "Yes, It Actually Does Work" bookmarked and jump in whenever I see something to respond to.

As for stats, I have given those several times in the "Yes, It Actually Does Work" thread as have others. I go by how my clothes fit and how many sizes I have gone down. My sagging rear end is now lifted and firm thanks to Greer. I lost 6 inches in my bust after the first four weeks. I only know this because I had to buy new bras.

My doctor, who was very skeptical when I started this, has become a huge fan of SS after seeing my results. He is now recommending it to his other patients who have the same health issues I have. I have no thyroid.

Since I only have time to respond to one thread I will probably keep posting on the original thread as that has some great info. If you keep reading on the original thread you will see that I have invested in three more of her 7 minute workouts. I will post my results and whether I like the Abandonda series over there if you are interested in hearing about those.

Since everyone responds differently to any exercise program probably the only way you will know if it works for you is to try it. This program is probably not for everyone, but then no exercise program is. I only know that it has worked miracles for me.. Good luck with whatever program you decide to go with. I'll be cheering for you!
Just wanted to post this here as well as on the other thread. Shapely Secrets has worked wonders for me! I am out of the Big Girls sizes and back into regular sizes for the first time in four years.

Can't wait to start the new workouts! More when they arrive!

Hi bfuser. Are you saying that you've lost 3 sizes since December 2007 or December 2006 when this thread started?

I hate to mention this, but it may help to know. Sizing in clothes changed not that long ago -- about a year ago, maybe? -- and gals who were wearing 18's could suddenly wear 14's, etc. -- without losing an inch or an ounce, so going down three sizes may actually be going down 1 size if comparing old-size and new-size garments. It's unfortunate that you didn't measure. (Sorry for being the bearer of bad news.) Still, going down 1-3 sizes while losing 13 pounds is extraordinary! Congratulations! I don't know what impact there is from living without a thyroid, but it can't be good. Congrats on finding something that works for you.

You mentioned in the other thread (Greer Childers -- Shapely Secrets DVD -- Results) that you've invested in 3 more of her workouts. Are they the BodyFlex workouts or the Shapely Secret type? Do you do one daily (or more than one)? Thanks again. My own ab muscles are really flabby, and most of the ab videos are pretty hard for me. This may be what I need.

About that other thread (Greer Childers -- Shapely Secrets DVD -- Results) -- I and others are still hoping that people will post their progress there so we don't have to sift through 500+ posts!!!
