Hey all!!
Just wanted to quickly pop in ( by the way I am the O.P.)...Anyway I wanted to say to all the current SS users, the newbies, those that are just curious and any nay-sayers.....This program WORKS!!...IF you work it that is.... VALF.... I had that exact same experience!! I was standing by the sink washing dishes one day and my mother-in law commented that she noticed how nice my backside and legs were looking in the jeans I had on!! this was major, as she Never gives compliments...unless she really means them!! ~~~ waves and hi to all~~~

Hi Anna! Nice to meet you! I don't think anyone here has nay sayed SS. I have been a Greer fan since I first bought her book, "Be A Loser". Body flex has helped me more than I can say.
I have seen the SS DVD and am glad I went with the second hand Isometric books. Anyone can apply Greer's method of doing isometrics to any isometrics found online or in second hand books. Isometrics have been around for a long time. All Greer did was increase the time one holds the pose and the number of reps. The best thing she has done is to point out that isometrics work and can be done anywhere, anytime with little or no special equipment. They even work very well for those confined to wheel chairs. Both bodyflex workouts were combinations of isometric exercises and stretching. I still do BF several times per week because the stretching does keep the lymph glands clean and the lymphatic fluid moving. For those who need to see someone doing and demonstrating the isometric moves, the SS DVD can be invaluable, but for me applying Greer's method to isometrics as pictured in a book has worked so well that my doctor was amazed at the changes in my body when I went in last week. I see her every 8 weeks because I have had a thyroidectomy and she closely monitors my TSH and Reverse T-3 levels. I started my isometric workouts about six weeks ago. I repeat each exercise 4 times and hold the exercise for 25 seconds each time. I did drop one pants size, and two shirt sizes. Ruth Last edited by bfuser; 07-07-2007 at 11:47 AM.. |

Awesome story, Ruth! May I ask what pants size you were in? How many exercises (stances) you do?
I am only doing the butt clinch and only once a day. I really need to start the whole routine in the book I posted the link to. TODAY. I am 70 pounds overweight and misses size 18. But they are getting loose!! I really want to see changes in my upper arms (huge) and pecs to help hold this big bust up! LOL! |

I love Greer..I love bodyflexing and SSing..
You can do those fanny exercises everywhere..in the car..The advanced SS is just sitting in a chair, toes up and squeezing everything for 25 seconds..I did a bunch of them one day and I was really sore the next day, so I KNOW something is happening.. |

Hi Val! Since being diagnosed with thyroid problems I have gained almost 90 pounds. I need to lose a good 80 pounds just to be in a moderately healthy state. Since November 29, 2006 ( my first visit to my current doctor) I have lost 10 pounds.
Since starting the isometrics about six weeks ago I have dropped from a size 18 pants to a 16, and gone from a size 18 shirt to a 14. That might not sound like much, but to me it is nothing less than a miracle. Please note that doing these exercises did not lead to a dramatic weight loss, just seems like they shifted things around. Maybe because they help build more muscle. Even Greer says look for inches lost rather than pounds. I see the doctor again in late August so hope I will have even more improvement by then. I do a series of eight isometrics and they hit all the muscle groups. I am now also using another book that I found to compliment the original eight exercises. I alternate eight exercises from the two books every other day. The second book, "Isometric, The Static Way To Physical Fitness," has a series of facial isometric exercises too. Maybe I'll start those when I slim down some more. Let me know how the isometrics are going. I am cheering for all of us no matter what program we each choose to use! ![]() |

Hello Ladies...( oh and gents too
)Just popping back in for a sec...Sorry that lately I've not had the time to log on nor post as I used to.... Things will get better for me time wise soon... Anyway, speaking of sizes, inches lost etc.., I wanted to quickly share this... When I began SS-ing, I was in a comfy size 18 mid rise boot cut jeans, well after several weeks of SS, less than a month if I recall,.. ( and not really watching what all I ate as I should) eventually it got to the point where I was able to put those jeans on without having to unzip/unfasten them!! ..I moved down to a 16 ( Think I posted this a while back already, but they were the same jeans, meaning same brand, brought from the same store etc) I was kinda shocked that I actually went down a full size while remaining constant in my weight ( meaning no loss) I had some problems with my foot/ankle and was not able to do my normal daily walking and such , however I still remained faithful to SS simply because it was only 7 minutes and I felt so darn good afterwards just knowing that I worked my muscles.. I felt darn'it, if I could not get out and walk - which I have grown to dearly love,...I knew that I could at least continue to do this, plus my AB crunches that I've been doing for a Long time now..I decided to get back on track food wise. I never actually went full-hog off food wise, ya know just eating all sorts of junk etc,..however I was certainly eating WAY more carbs than I knew I should have.. and my portion sizes had gone by the wayside, as I tried to convince myself that as long as it was proteins...the amount did not matter.. I was also way into the cheeses and started using things like Ketchup...on a regular basis. I knew it was that tomato--sweet taste that I was enjoying so much..Anyway..fast forward...I finally got my eating back under control, I continued SS-ing on a regular daily basis ( for a short time I became kinda slack there too and had dropped down to only SS-ing 2/3 times per week) But now back daily and ladies those 16's are now way too loose ..what I call "sloppy-loose' and I just recently went out and purchased some 14's..and from the GAP no less ![]() ![]() ....I also found the coolest pair of jeans in a size 12, that were on sale no less...so "had" to have em...and hoping beyond hope to be able to slip into them say by Thanksgiving...thats my goal...so we'll see...Weight wise I have honestly only gone down 11 pounds, since SS-ing but prior too it,..I've lost a large amount already and was not that far off from my personal goal. SS wise, the changes in my body are awesome!!..oh and my foot problems are SO much better that I'm out walking again.. ![]() Does SS ( Isometrics and so on..) work...an astounding YES!!, will you see inches lost,..YES,..Will you tone and tighten ( arms, thys, behind..) Yes!!..yes..yes... Have a wonderful day All... ~~hi and waves~~ to Sazzie and the rest of the gang.. ![]() Last edited by wastednuffime; 07-08-2007 at 06:27 AM.. Reason: mistake |

Way to go, Anna! Congratulations!
I started a thread on the Metabolic typing diet over in the diet section, but will mention it briefly here too since that is what I use in conjunction with isometrics. As I mentioned above I have lost 10 pounds since November 29th when I first started seeing my new doctor. That probably sounds like not such great results, but it is the first time I have actually lost weight that was more than water weight. On my April visit my doctor noted that my blood work showed I was not absorbing vitamins and minerals even when taken as supplements. She had me take a metabolic typing test and discovered that I am a High Protein type. So 70 per cent of my food intake at each meal must be protein. This is a very easy way for me to eat, and at last I am losing more weight. It is not dieting at all, just eating for my metabolic type. So I am not actually dieting at all. At first I didn't really pay much attention to the eating for my type buy have been really trying to eat for my type for the lat three weeks. My point here is that while doing the isometric exercises daily I am not actually dieting, but rather eating for my type. I feel so much better that I have felt in years! Even the supplements I take are specific for my type and I am now absorbing more nutrients! My doctor says that as I begin to absorb more nutrients my digestion will improve steadily and this will also help with weight loss. The metabolic typing along with the isometrics are really making a huge difference in my life. Gottta love those Isometrics or SS or what ever name one wants to call them they really do work! ![]() |

Hi gals.
B: You are so right...weight loss is really about the eating..and exercises is about the muscles. And a huge congrats to you!! I have the Metabolic Typing book, too..took the test, and am a protein gal..When I do cheat, I always gain..DUH!!!!! Anyway..I DO love the isometric exercises alot!! Anna:That is fabulous that you are melting away.. Truly, the key to weight loss is having stronger muscles..and I DO think this does take a while, but every day of SSing/isometrics makes you stronger. I ordered an isometric book, too..can't remember the name, but looking forward to it coming so I can get a routine down..Do my SSing and then do my "other" isometrics.. |

I think I will start doing SS in the morning and the exercises from the book I posted in the evening. That will still be less than 20 minutes a day of exercise for major results.
I love your stories! So inspiring! |

I used to measure weekly when doing Body Flex too, but stopped. Measuring is a great idea! Uhhhh do I have to post my rear end size?

Question for you body flex prople, do you think the results come from the breath or the isometric hold. I have oxycise, I was thinking of just trying the holds, they are isometric.

Probably both..I like the bodyflex breathing and the stretches that Greer does..They are supposed to work together.

I agree, Carolyn. I think they work together, and you get a terrific workout from them. I tried Oxycise when it first came out, but found that BF produced much better results more quickly.
Another similar exercise is called Life Lift. These were formulated by the woman who taught Greer how to use breathing and stretching together. I love the acupressure face lift in the Life Lift workout. Life Lift, like Body Flex, gives you a real work out. Ruth |

Cross your fingers for me, ladies. My 18s are feeling loose, so tomorrow I am going to try to wear a pair of 16 I have in the exact same brand and style. The butt of my 18s are so loose, they bunch up funny - like a diaper, because they are a heavy twill. The waist may kill me though as I haven't stopped drinking beer. That's my next task as I know I will drop my belly as soon as I do.

Oh well, I tried....they fit like at least two sizes smaller
![]() I knew they'd be snug on the waist, but how can one size be flapping and the very next down be skin tight everywhere? I still feel great though, I know this is working! Last edited by valf; 07-12-2007 at 04:21 PM.. Reason: spelling |

On the bottom thing..you keep your feet parallel and don't bend your knees..It's the one that you lean forward on something..legs are stiff and squeeze everything for all you are worth..

ITA with Carolyn
The tighter you squeeze all of those muscles, the faster you will see results. You know, I've been doing this for quite a while now, and I still feel it's a challenge. I still break out in a very healthy glow, and am very glad it's only 5 minutes......I don't do the facial exercises. BTW, I am down one size from 12 shorts to a 10, and I've not done them regularly. |
