How many different exercises are there? I see the three that inlcude the arms at the 90 degree angle, the one where your arms are behinf your back and the butt one but is there another one where your arms are in front?

Thanks!

I got the Advanced SS tape, too..That one has your arms up like "Popeye's arms"..and squeezing similar to the first arm exercise in the original tape.

Then the second advanced one is your arms are up and it's like you were putting your arms in back of your head..your arms are at a 45 degree angle..Then squeezing your arms and fists..This is for your triceps..

The third exercise is sitting in a chair. Your toes are like you are "on point" touching the floor..Then you squeeze your fanny and thighs..This is kinda hard and you need a hard chair for this or you will sink in.

Time to SS..

Any updates from anyone?

I just ordered the CD, but already started the exercises from the description posted by Carolyn - thanks, Carolyn!

Hi All! I just starting doing this. When you are doing the exercise with your arms behind your back should your fist be facing upwards, downwards, or to the side?

I did not order the dvd, but did the exercises on Saturday as they were described here. On Sunday I was so sore it hurt to move. I could NOT believe I was that sore from doing these relatively simple exercises. I will continue to do them and see what happens.

HOLY CRAP!!!

I didn't even read all the exercises, I just got the gist 'clench and hold for 25 seconds' or something from a cursory scan, and was spending non-wheelchair time in the reclining couch and thought "hey, why not?"

CRAP I'm sore!
D'OH!

That's AWESOME!

Just imagine if I actually had real info and did it right!

(think I'll go back and re read)

This has enormous potential!

Roller, (the potential enormity)

Much of what I've read here sounds like isometrics. Working your own strength against your own strength. I think it was what Charles Atlas was selling many, many years ago. Isometrics will definitely work.

I vaguely remember that one of his exercises was to lift your elbows out at shoulder height, put the palms of your hands together, chest height and push and hold and the repeat. Will strength the chest muscles.

You are right Carrielyn...they are isometrics pure and simple. I am currently working from the book Energizing Isometrics, and they are awesome! I feel every muscle and most of the exercises in the book are strikingly similar to the ones on the SS DVD. I have also just gotten from Amazon "Isometrics, The Static Way To Physical fitness" It was published in the 1960's and has different exercises to mix up with the ones in the first book I bought. They are worth their weight in gold.

I saw my doctor today and she was amazed at the difference in my body's appearance. She asked how I did it and I told her isometrics. She told me isometrics are the fastest way to build muscle and lose inches.

I still love Body Flex because of the stretching and breathing.

I found a freebie book online using isometrics, and have been doing those. I can sure feel the difference.

Now to think of all that money I spent on tapes and stuff that I didn't need to. Geesh.

Good for you, Brenda! You will start to notice significant changes in your body after four to six weeks. Just keep at it!

I admit I am only doing the butt clich until I get the DVD. But....
Day 1 - this is nothing!!
Day 2 - well, I can feel it, but not bad at all. And an hour later when I went to bed I had restless leg syndrome for an hour after not having it for years. Not bad, just walked around for a few minutes and then sitting up and reading for awhile.
Day 3 - WHOA! This hurts! But in a good way!

Can't wait to see how it feels tomorrow.....

I got my dvd's yesterday. I didn't do the rush shipping but they were here in like 3 days. I did my first workout today. First I walked/ran on the treadmill (which is what I usually do) then I did the SS dvd. Man was I ever feeling it. I was sweating up a storm. I can't wait to see my results in 2 weeks.

Do you all do it everyday or do you take a day off to rest? I haven't read everything yet.

I didn't think we were allowed to give out web addresses. The book I got from searching Wikipedia for isometrics. They had some free books listed at the bottom. The second (very good) site I found was through google. The guys name is Paul J. O'Brien. It was the first thing that turned up under his name. He has a freebie ebook for use with an exercise ball, which I don't have, but I have the directions now for when I do. His site looks very good as well. Let me know if that helps, or PM me.

So, I finally opened up my SS Advanced workout DVD. I don't see what's so advanced. Granted, my buns are a little sore this morning but I just don't see what's so advanced about it. Especially the arm positions.

Thank you for the info on web based books for isometrics. I (my DH, really) have one of the balls and I want to try some of the exercises when I get home this evening. Wish me luck!

Dee: Well, I think the arm positions are great ones to add to the regular arm positions..I often do the sitting fanny position during the day at the puter OR even driving in the car..I have noticed that my thighs are a bit tighter..

I started 6/25, just doing the butt clinch for 25 seconds, 4 times in a row. No dieting at all, in fact, just the opposite!

Last night my sister came over for dinner and as I stood at the sink washing a pan I hear, "Wow, Val, your butt and the top of your legs look a lot smaller - what are you doing?"

:c lap::clap

Hopefully my DVD will come today and I will start the whole thing.
