Yesterday was W4D2 and it was not nearly as bad as the 1st workout for week 4. It went by faster, but I am having some lower back discomfort. I need to stretch more I guess. I may repeat week 4 again, but I may just push on thru...gut it out, we'll see how my back feels!
I do have a question for those who are further into this program. When did you start seeing some changes in your body? Granted I have not been strict dieting, but I would have bet money I would have seen some change in my clothes fitting or how I look naked! Nothing much yet.... I have a scale that also measures body fat and I have gone down 3%, but it sure doesn't show! It's been 4 weeks! Middle age bites.....![]() |

BgDogMom, I've been doing this since Oct 2 with some repeats (W5D3 tomorrow). I'm losing weight more slowly than ever, pants are fitting only slightly better, but I do notice a difference in the saddlebags, they're definitely smaller.

I would like to know that too....... as I am on the same week and havent seen any change yet either... well I am down some in size, but I think that has to do with my strict eating.

Week 5 Day 3
Done!
I am ridiculously proud of myself. I didn't break any records for speed, except maybe for "slowest jog that could still be called jogging" but I did it! |

Shelly that is so funny...that is so like me. When I feel like stopping you just gotta push yourself and pretty soon your almost done so you are like ok just a few more, and then your almost done keep going... then before you know it its over and you did it..... its a great feeling.......... GOOD job to you
I just finished week 4....... went ahead and did it since I have already repeated it anyway. I wanted to be able to Start week 5 tomorrow that way I can be done with week 5 on tuesday, because we are going out of town to the in laws and it will be hard to get it in. I dont want to have to wait to get started on it. I will kinda be pushing it, but I dont take a rest day in between anyway so I think I will be fine, If I feel like its too much I will simply not do it. But I am sure it will be fine. Have a good day.

Hi Everyone!
You are all doing such a wonderful job with this program!!! It really doesn't matter how many times you have to repeat a week. You are doing good things for your and making it stronger and stronger. I will be back on this program soon too. I will play it by ear this week. I finally gave up and went to the doc. He said that I have a sinus infection and gave me meds to decongest and antibiotics. I try to let my body heal itself but that just didn't seem to be happening this time around. Betty -- You are so amazing! You said just the words I needed to hear! I am not giving up. I keep telling myself that I did it once so can do it again. If I have to start all over so be it. I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. -darlene- |

I'm going to go to the park for the 25 minute jog on Day 3, since I have Friday off, it'll be a nice change from the neighborhood and its hills. KUTGW, all! |

Week 6 Day 2 done (sort of) I pooped out about 9 minutes into the second 10 minute run, I timed it poorly and hit a steep hill. Oh well, I gave it my all and I'm ready for W6D3! How's everyone else doing?

Hi all! Ran w7d1 this morning and it was great! Nice and cool (it had been so HOT here inSoCal) and even kind of drizzly, really neat! We are traveling to Montana over Christmas and I am excited to do a winter run, in the snow even! Anyway, 25 minutes was pretty easy. No land speed records here but I AM running!
Happy T-Day all! Don't eat too much. |

Gavinsmom- So... have you done the 20 minutes yet? Think of it this way... on w5d2 you are doing 2 10 minute runs anyway.. All you are doing in w3 is connecting the dots, so to speak. You CAN do it... I was a little nervous too but it was easier than I expected. Check back in and let us know how it went!

Goodness me, I finished Week 6! The park wasn't such a great idea, after all. The first half was on dirt and broken rock so had to be careful, and the dog wanted to sniff every twig along the way. Then it joined up with a bike path, that was much easier.
The MP3 player with Ullery's podcasts helps immensely. I'm fairly certain I went closer to 1.25 miles than 2.25, but right now am going for time, not distance. I'm guessing the more I do (and the more weight I lose, it's like carrying 3 ten pound bags of flour along for the ride) the faster and further I'll go.

Hi Canadiandina:
First, check in to the cool runner website (quick search) and then go to training, and the c25k program is outlined there. Second, you must make sure you have good, properly fitted by a professional, shoes. Really. Third, know that treadmill running is different than outdoor, you need to put on a little incliine to get the same effect. Don't worry about speed AT ALL. Fourth, I love the podcasts (link at the cool running forum) that helps keep you going, works for ipods and other players also, and is free. He does all of the timing for you so you don't have to worry about it. There are lots of threads over at the cool running forums that will help you. HAVE FUN!!

Hi Canadiandina, were you able to get started? Ty's mom is right about the shoes and the podcast. I wouldn't worry about speed either, just go at a pace that's comfortable to start. I know I'm not going anywhere near the distance outlined in the program, but that'll come as I get in better shape.
I did Week 7 Day 1 this morning, if you'd told me 8 weeks ago I'd be jogging 25 minutes straight, wouldn't have believed you. This is a great confidence builder as well as good exercise. |

Hi Everyone,
I am another newbie! I read your really inspirational posts and stated today. I am 59, reasonably fit as I do lots of gym classes but I have always hated running. It went really well and I was pleased with myself. So W1 D1 accomplished! ![]() |

When I first started running, it was a sight to behold. I couldn't run past 2 mailboxes in my neighborhood. I prayed none of my neighbors were looking out their windows! I felt like such a fool. But yanno what .. I kept at it .. what I lack in athletic ability, I make up for with tenacity .. 3 years later, I finished a 26.2 mile marathon at age 50. Now, I'm training for my second marathon. I am not special; just determined. If I can do it, YOU CAN DO IT! Betty
