Hi Gavinsmom -- You are doing great and should feel good! The between days are good days for adding on. My husband & I go to the gym too but have not been able to do that lately. I have to watch myself or add on too much since I like to also use DVDs to work out with! It sounds like you are using common sense and taking care of your body!

Thanks.....
I just finished the last of week 2 workouts.

I sped up my time just a little today and I was feeling the burn. The weird thing is that I was not only going faster, but was wearing jogging pants this time, and I didnt sweat as much as when I go slower, is that an indicator to stay at the slower pace?

Also I was wondering why next week you are still jogging at 90 second intervals.... Just wondering... I thought next week was upping to 3 minutes but now I see that is week 4. Just wondering what the reason for that is? Maybe your body needs another week of getting used to it before going for the 3 minutes.

ANyway onto week 3......

gavinsmom -- Congrats on finishing the first two weeks!!! I think when you sweat less it's a sign that you are not working as hard with the same amount of effort... you are becoming more fit. I could be wrong so hopefully others will chime in.

I guess the bod needs more time to adjust but really don't know! I was using another program for weeks 1 and 2 and didn't start C25K with the podcast and coorunning's version until week 3.

For the first two weeks, I followed a program from Fitness mag. The first two weeks were the same and stayed the same for two weeks before changing.

HTH,

THanks...

I figured that your body probably needed some time to get used to it.

Hey everyone...

Sorry I've been AWOL, but I lost my job on Thursday and my life has been crazy, chaotic and sad. Nevertheless, my son and I have a roof over our head and food in the fridge...for now.

I am proud of each of you. Keep up the good work.

I had a running moment today when I hit a personal best of -----5 miles----!!! It was very exhilirating and encouraging.

If I can move my butt, nonstop, for 81 minutes....so can you!!! Take it one step, one arm pump and one smile at a time!

Gavinsmom -- I bet that's it. The body need to build a solid cardio/running foundation. It's amazing how well the plan works!

Suga -- & to you on finding something soon. I know it must be so stressful. I am so impressed that you are staying strong and continuing with the running! Congrats on your new personal best!!!

I did intervals for 40 min this morning then walked a little longer. I made it a total of 3.5 mi, 2.9 during the intervals. I pushed for most run intervals and got up to 7 mph, which is high for me. I need to get a steady state run in again too but my face/sinuses are so congested first thing each morning. Allergies. YuK! I am sure that will improve soon.

Have a wonderful Monday!

SUga congrats on your all time high....... I know that GOd will provide for you... keep your head up girl.

Well today will be W3D1........ will do my workout later in the afternoon, I dont know why but that is always the best time for me to fit it in. I am hoping I am not gonna feel overwhelmed, since I took the whole weekend off from the treadmill. I guess we will see....... I am sure I will be fine, especially since it is the same pace as last week.....

Check back in after I am done........

Hey I ended up getting sidetracked right in the middle of my workout last night, and never did get to finish. So I am switching my days this week. I did W3D1 today. Let me just say..... it was definitely a work out today.. It is amazing how much longer 3 minutes is than 90 seconds. But I just pushed through and made it..... yay

Hi all! Just cam in from w3d1 and frankly was surprised that the 3 minute run was easier than my first 60 second run!! Go figure. LOVE this program! DITTO to all who recommend professionally fitted shoes, makes a world of difference!

Here is a really cool site where you can lay out your route and figure distance on the computer! Saves gas!

Hi everyone. Can I join you? I'm doing heavy weight trainnig 3 x's a week and I just started C25K. I've never run before and every time I've attempted I gave up because it was too hard. I do a lot of heavy cardio but for some reason I could never run. I decided to try this program and hopefully I'll have success with it. I just finished my W1D2.

Hi Everyone!

My allergies have finally calmed down and was able to run for 30 minutes this morning! I was feeling pretty frustrated but am feeling confident about running again. I found a program on the Runner's World website that generated a new routine to follow that seems to pick up where C25K left off ...or in my case. It will create a routine for many levels.

Gavinsmom -- Sometimes my brain acts like it's on crack! Week 3 is where I started with the podcasts so dont know what the first two weeks are like. With the podcasts, at some point, Day 1, 2 & 3 are different each week. I was always shocked that I could do the Day 3s! You are doing so good with the program!!! WTG and keep up the good work!

Tymom -- WTG to you too! Awesome! It is amazing how quickly this program seems to condition and prepare us for each new 'run'! I am not sure that there is a place locally that does that kind of fitting but need to check that out. I run on the TM so am wondering if perhaps the impact is less. I have had my Shox almost a yr and am noticing that they are a little less cushy but have only been running in them 3x/wk for such a short time. Still, the right shoe is probably crucial!

Denise -- I could never run before this program either! It's amazing! Just stay with it and you will be amazed too! I am still a beginner but can now run 30 min w/o falling over and am working on doing more. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing!

Thanks Darlene. I hope it works. lol I've tried so many times but it never seems to work. I like the idea of using a structured program to help me along. I think that should make a big difference. I just finished my 3rd workout for the first week.

Great job on running for 30 minutes! I can't imagine doing that.

Hi!
Today was total rest for me other than a little laundry.

Gavinsmom -- Congrats again! This does start to become a habit, making you want to do more! Intervals are a great way to boost your endurance! Keep it up!!! 3 mi is fantastic!

Denise -- on completing week 1!!! Doesn't it feel good? I never thought I could run more than a minute so am still kind of shocked that I can go 30 min w/o stopping. Stay with this and am sure you can too! I need structure too so will start a new program soon. I am doing two days of the program next week but will not be able to do the 3rd day so will officially start on the 6th.

Keep up the good work!!

Hey all...

Glad to see you all are running fools!!! I logged 13.25 miles this week total running, so I guess I'm a fool too.

Just wanted to peep in and say hi.

Happy running,

Hi Suga -- Happy running to you too. Yes...you're a running fool too! You did good with those miles! How is everything else going? I hope things are looking up.

I am not happy with my run today. My goal was only 2 mi and had to walk some during the last .5 mi. I guess all days can't be great run days but will try to better Wed.

Happy Monday Runners!

I finished W2D1 and it is definately a bit harder.

I also did an hour of heavy weight training (Lower body today). I did the
C25K this morining and weights this afternoon. I know I'm supposed to do weights first but there is no way I could run after doing heavy weight lifting. I hope the weight lifting doesn't hinder my C25K and vice versa. I'm going to try to not do them on the same day.

Great job Denise!!! I think there are varying opinions on whether to do weights or cardio first. I have to run first because that is still harder for me. Tomorrow is my leg/butt day and will run again Wed. I'll let you know how that goes

Hey everyone..... just finished W4D1........ woooohooo....... lets just say it was definitely harder. Plus my ankle hurts a little, because I must have done something to it. Our dog got out of the back yard, and was running like crazy, and we could hardly catch her...... stupid dog. I was like just let her go........LOL
BUt I finally caught her, and my ankle hurts a little, not bad, but enough that I notice it.
SO I will probably take it easy tomorrow........ will probably still do the treadmill, but not very fast.

Have a good day everyone.......

Hi there! I'm 47 y/o, never ran a day in my life. As you can see by my stats my weight has been up there. I'm at my lowest weight right now since I don't know how long (probably middle school). I walk on the treadmill at 3.5, 6 incline for 20 mins or so. I ready want to try C25K, but I'm actually scared to jog/run. Any suggestions? Has/is anyone in the same boat as me?

Thanks in advance for all your suggestions or words of encouragement.

Lovinlowcarb.............. I have never ran in my life either...... I never really even exersized regularly before. So you already got one up on me. BUt here i am on week 4 of this program. The way it is set up it really trains your body each week to do more. I never thought that I would be able to jog at 5 minute intervals, but here I am week 4 and doing it

I never ran before either. I tried but just couldn't do it. So far the Couch to 5K is working. I always did incline walking too. I would walk at 3.2-3.4 and start at 4% incline. Every 2 minutes I increased the incline by 2% until I hit the highest and then I came back down again. Incline walking is great for you. I'm still going to do one day of that along with e C25K. I would suggest using the program and see how it goes. I bet you'll be fine.
