Sounds like a good vacation, Marathon Mel! Congrats on not gaining.

I did W6D3 today and did my 25 minute run. I think I am taking a lot longer than the 9 weeks, but it has been probably 25 years since I have run 25 minutes straight!

Hello runner friends

mum22-- great job on 25 minutes! it's okay to take as long as you need, i think- i did!

I had my 'break-through' run the other day-- you know the one where you could just run forever? Well the plan was to run 4 miles, and I ended up doing a little over 5! And in under an hour too (barely- 56 minutes) but it was so awesome, I wish every run could be like that I could have gone further too but I made it all the way home and my poor puppy really really wanted her walk!

mum congrats on the 25, isn't it a great feeling to look back and see how far you've come?

Jana, i love that feeling you had, i've noticed mine starting to come more frequently. I hit 4.3 miles yesterday in 42 minutes and would have run further except it was an out and back, i just really kicked it into high gear for the last 1/2 a mile or so, and still had some gas in the tank.

You all are doing so well! I'm having a lot of trouble this week dragging myself out of bed, I'm on call all week so have had a few late nights. Did 45 minutes Monday, only 20 yesterday and was still late for work. Plan to do 45 tomorrow and Saturday.

Jana, I've heard shoes should be replaced every 300 miles. I think I've got about another 100 miles to go on mine.

Mel, I've started putting my MP3 player (which is also my cell phone) in a ziploc baggie to keep it dry.

Chris, that's fantastic!

I'm a little envious of all you who love running, or even like it. I still don't really want to do it, but the dog and I both need the exercise, so I keep going. 42 minutes today, need to add a little more distance to my route.

Music matters! This week I started with India.Arie and Tracy Chapman, great music but much too mellow. Today I went with my 5K playlist of some pretty intense choral music, and well, I ran out of road. Used DH's MP3 player which has better earphones so I could really crank it up.

shelly- yesterday I definatly did NOT like running. I wheezed through a half an hour and then walked the rest of the way home! But, at least I did something!

I do love running to upbeat music (I love Queen) but my dumb Ipod got sent back to Apple AGAIN. I just want them to give me a new one.

i got to admit that running did not come naturally, and i can't say that it still does. half the time i go out because of the support and accountability that this forum and others provide for me. I do love how i feel after a run, and the results i';ve gotten with my body, but that certainly isn't running through my head at 6:00am when I'm lying in bed trying to think of a reason to roll over and go to sleep.

that being said, i ran 4.4 miles today

The first 10 minutes, I really do not like it. Everything hurts. But then I get my groove. New music helps as well. I just bought a workout album on itunes. Kept me going today. I do like the way I feel afterwards, and my kids seem to like that I do it.

I totally agree with this. Most days the first mile is the hardest.

I'm kind of glad I'm not the only one

I came up short again today, ended up back at my house at a little over 41 minutes. Need longer route!

ran at the beach today about 30 minutes. no distance to measure, probably less than 3 miles but the sand definitely works the calves more than the road!

I haven't run on the beach since college! No beaches around here

But I did do the full 45 minutes today, went a little further so I had a few minutes walking back to the house at the end of it.

May Day Virtual 5K coming up soon! And when that's done I'll be registering for a real 5K the first weekend in June. People I know IRL will be doing it, I've looked at last year's results and am pretty sure I won't be in last place

Keep it going jana, Chris, and mum22!

How's everyone else doing?

Today I ran 3.6 miles in 38 minutes which is good for me. I put on sunblock and still got a burn on my face

Jana, that's great! (the running, not the sunburn)

42 minutes this morning, will be doing the Virtual 5K tomorrow night, shooting for <40 minutes. Even if it's 39:59 I'll be thrilled.
