welcome kathryn, the more the merrier. You can absolutely repeat weeks, there's no rush.

jana, my weight didn't go up, but i held flat for about 3 weeks, then last week got my 7 lb whoosh. I think it was my body holding going into survival mode thinking it would outlast me trying to exercise, but eventually it gave up when i convinced it i wasn't going to quit.

got my W6D2 done on the treadmill. Raining and cold here in sacramento. Was easier since the hotel had a tv, so i could at least watch it to pass the time. held 6mph for both 10 minute runs. No more intervals, its just straight running from here!

lee, when i run outside, i run on a trail that runs between the 2 major cross streets which are 1 mile apart, i just measure how many times i go back and forth, thats why i i've got 2 miles marked. I'll try google earth if i get out on the streets.

keep running!

Hi Katrun. Welcome! I've not repeated whole weeks, but I've done an extra day of each week. I think as long as you are moving, you are succeeding. I've done the extra day because I was worried that if I couldn't make the new routine, I'ld give up. But now I'm addicted If repeating week one gives you the confidence, then I say repeat it. It's not a race at all. It's just challenging yourself (and well, yelling at mr podcast man cause he's mean! I'll be cursing janamonkey for having faith in me next week if I don't make 8 minutes - let alone the 20! - hahaha)

janamonkey and currdog....I've had a look at a roadmap site here....but it's not accurate enough. I'm going to have to check out some house numbers and try again. I thought you must have something strapped onto you that told you DOH! I run the same streets each day, but I'm now nearly ending up home at the end of my run, think I'll have to make some adjustments!

Hi, Kathryn, and welcome! Absolutely repeat any days or weeks until you feel ready to move on, I did. Take it at a pace that's comfortable for you, at this point speed is not important at all, just keep moving.

I've tried using gmap-pedometer but my neighborhood is too new, a lot of the streets don't show. I'm going to do the April Fool's Day Virtual 5K at DH's gym on the treadmill, that'll be my first really accurate reading of how far/how fast (or slow) I'm going.

lovinlee, you'll make the eight minutes, and the twenty. In a way 20 was easier because when you're done, you're done, you don't have to walk five minutes then start jogging again.

Faith, running helps me with motivation in that when I'm tempted to eat off plan, I ask myself "is that (bagel, donut, whatever) worth jogging an extra 30-40 minutes?" The answer is always no. You're doing great with the jogging, though, a few more weeks and you'll be done with Couch to 5K!

janamonkey, they say when you start exercising your body holds onto water to repair the muscles. And they say by volume, muscle weighs more than fat. So if you're eating OK and not putting on inches, it should level off and start dropping again.

Chris, great new avi, and good for you for not letting travel get in your way. You're doing ten minute miles!

Mum22 finished Week 3! Awesome.

MnM, you're doing great too! You'll be amazed at how quickly the weeks go by.

Thanks, tymom! We'll be congratulating you here pretty quick, you're almost done with OHR too. I've noticed the same thing, after about the first ten minutes I kind of go on autopilot. Music helps immensely, especially in that first ten minutes.

Did 45 minutes Monday and today, not a second more or less

Hello all! I just completed w2d2! I am very proud of myself. My question is will it get easier? It's ok now, but right now I can't see myself being able to do a full 5k...Has anyone who is around my size done this? Is it possible? Plus, will this slow weight loss? I haven't lost since running...Is it a water issue? I feel better and look better, but still have questions.

welcome Kelly! congrats on getting into Week 2. It gets easier and harder at the same time (if thats an answer) It gets easier to run for 2 minutes, but just when you've got the hang of it, you've got to bump it to 3 then 5 then 8. Its designed to constantly challenge you. If you're pushed too much, then there's no rule against repeating a week until you feel comfortable moving on.

It slows weight loss initially, but in the long run will help you lose weight faster. I think the initial stall may be water retention, but could also be muscle building. the muscle needs calories to fuel it and the more muscle you've got, the more calories you burn just by breathing, so it picks up the weightloss down the road. keep asking questions!

Shelly, i know what you mean about not a second more or less! i think in 45 minutes you've done enough, so no need to give it an extra second!

against the wind...

Welcome, Kelly! It does get easier, I started Couch to 5K on October 2 at about 182 lbs (and I'm 44 and was terribly out of shape). I didn't think I'd even finish the first week, let alone ever be able to jog for 30 minutes straight. As long as you have good quality running shoes and don't push it too hard, you should get through it just fine.

Thanks for the vote of confidence ItsNot2L8 ...... I was trying to block out that 20 minute bit! hahaha! W4D4 tomorrow.....for once I'm not worried, I know I can do that one!

45 minutes! your an Iron Woman!!!

Off topic, but i bought a skipping rope yesterday. Oh my god, does jumping rope get your heart rate up quickly! I sweated more in 5 minutes than I have in my entire jogging career so far! Afterwards I did some pushups and weights. Man, are my arms weak!

Hi katrun and kellysue! Welcome and ask lots of questions.. I sure do!

Kelly, when I started this January I was fantastically out of shape. I could barely get through the one minute. I started the first week of january and I just got back from running 3.11 miles! In 34 minutes too! It really did seem impossible at first. About the weight stall/gain, I have gained about 5 pounds since I have started adding more days of excersize in. I run (week 9 of c25k, ride my bike and do yoga) 6 days a week and since I have been serious about it I have been stuck her at 168. The thing is that I am wearing a size smaller now then last time I was at this weight- and this morning I was .5 inch down in my waist. So I must be doing something right!

Today I ran Week9 Day 2 - I mapped out 3.11 miles on google earth and timed myself- 34.30! That is a 11:06 pace, which is good. Then I looked at last years results of the 5k I am going to run and that puts me right in the middle of the pack. I just needed to make sure I wasn't going to be last

Welcome Kathryn and Kelly!

I finished W2D2. I find out that I do better at a little higher speed. I don't know how to explain it, but I seemed to have better form. I'm sticking with it though. I'll see what it feels like on Friday.

Way to go everyone!

week 6 complete! ran it here this morning in orlando. I was going to run last night on the treadmill, but when i got on it here at the holiday inn, i realized that it wasn't a gym quality machine and certainly wasn't going to survive me. so i got up this morning and ran outside (daylight is good for running). Sooo glad i did. gorgeous morning. one thing i noticed about FL vs. AZ is the humidity and how much more i sweat. my shirt is drenched, it feels good. more sweat makes me feel like I worked harder.

i definitely hit my stride after 8 minutes. 1st 8 my body is like "no chris, don't make me do this" next 15 are awesome, last 4 i was gassed and sucking wind. I'm hoping the more i do this the shorter the 1st phase gets shorter, and 2nd phase gets longer!

hope everyone's runs go well.

Good morning guys! Last night I did my second day of W6D2. Tomorrow I'm repeating W6D3. Still 25 minutes so I'm not really backtracking all that much. Tho last night while I was on the TM and having difficulty pushing thru both 10 minute rounds I can't believe I've actually gotten thru the 25 minute--twice! I'm not sure from where I pulled the strength and stamina to pull that off but I'm going to be doing it again tomorrow. Hope the wind is down tho because that makes it rougher!

Hope every one of you has a wonderful weekend!

lovinlee, I don't I've ever in my life been able to do a real pushup. You'll be fine through Week 5, don't worry

Chris for finishing week 6!

Cindy, no time like the present, why not throw on your MBTs now and go?

janamonkey, you're almost done and you're going at a great pace, I'm hoping that I might get under a 12 minute mile someday... I looked at last year's results for the 5K I'm looking at in June, and my goal is to not come in last place

MnM, did you finish Week 2 today? Ready to move on to week 3?

tymom, how's it going with the last bit of One Hour Runner?

I meant to go 3 miles today, mapped it out as best I could, but zoned out and missed a turn. So I stuck to 45 minutes, figure that's got to be somewhere in the neighborhood...

Hello Runners!!! I just finished w2d3! It was a PIECE of cake! So easy that I jogged the last four minutes. I was barely winded and could have kept going! This makes me very happy!

Good going Kelly...you are smokin'!

Kissa -- Try not to be so hard on yourself. You had a little hiatus that you didn't really want to take and ya know, I would be having a tough time getting back into the swing of it if I were in your shoes!

Shelly -- 45 minutes still sounds so unreal to me! I cannot wait until I graduate into OHR although the thought of me getting that far is like a daydream!

I don't do the regular pushups either. I do the "girly" ones with my knees resting on the floor. My arms just aren't strong enough yet. I tried doing them and couldn't even do one!

Chris -- Congrats on completing W6!!

Hi everyone! You all arre doing so well! Just came in from my run today... 46 minutes,,, but they are SLOW! I felt great though and for the first time, I think I actually will be able to finish the One Hour Runner... I am kind of taking it slow though having been stuck at week 8 for awhile now.

The second half of the run sure is better than the first, there was a nice stretch where I felt like I could go forever!

Have a great day!

Katrun and Kelly! I think someone covered this, but I did not lose pounds for the first couple of weeks doing this. I did lose inches, and I know this because my pants were falling off of me at the gym . I am now brave enough to get back on the scale and I am losing pounds as well.

I did W4D1, slowly, but I did it! I am the one who is training for a sprint triathlon and so I had to swim today today. After being sick for 4 days, I am tired.... But I did it and if I can, trust me, ANYONE can!!!!
