Sarah, I hope to see you again here soon! Good running shoes are essential; if you don't have them you'll be doing yourself more harm than good.

Tymom, I'm not sure what I'll do next. I looked at the 5K beginner training schedule, I really like having the structure, but I jog in the morning MWF and have been struggling on the longer days to get to work on time (switching to evenings or weekends for longer days will not work, I know that about myself). I may just do 40 minutes 3x/week for a while and work on building up a little more speed and grace. What about you, will you go into another training schedule?

Edited to add wow! 20 pages!

Hi Shelly, no I am not sure what I will do next. I am sure though, that the structure of c25k and OHR is keeping me on track, and I am a bit nervous that if I don't have some sort of structure my routine might fizzle out. Guess I need to sign up for some 5ks to keep a target out there.

Chris, I used to live in Chandler.... congrats on your progress.

Good evening! Figured I'd better hop in here while I have the chance and chart my progress. W6D3 down today. I didn't get to do D2 until yesterday so I was a couple of days behind, still decided to go on ahead with D3 even tho I didn't take a day of rest in between.

Ok...D3 today was harsh! DD, DH, and I drove up to use the tracks at one of the schools and all did our jogs together. Well, DH is military and way ahead of me in the fitness dept. so DD went our own pace and let DH go at his. Getting thru the 25 minutes, I was really feeling it! Pacing myself yes, but it felt endless and plus it was terribly windy and hard to push thru that. DD and I decided to go the extra mile after finishing our 25 minutes and completing 3 miles altogether! After the 25 min. just kept going, alternating a few minutes jogging/a few minutes walking. Since the Capitol 10K (6 miles) is coming up in a little over a month I just wanted to see how far I could get and how long it would take to get me there. So the fact I did 3 miles in 50 minutes and still felt pretty darn good (well ok my knees right now are killing me!) has me feeling very hopeful!!

I haven't gotten the chance to catch up on all the posts but will try and do that as soon as possible. Right now I guess I better go get some dinner on the table.

Hi everyone. Thanks for trying not to rub in the wonderful AZ weather, Chris. I had to go to the gym today. More snow and had to take the 4 wheel drive vehicle to get there. But I did get there and it was OPEN so I did my W2D2. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hello everyone! I finished week 7 today! I probably will run 25 minutes again the next time I run, becuase my running buddy is a day behind me.

I've decided on my first 5k! On March 11th, the Shamrock run! I am excited and nervous, but I'll be done with couch to 5k by the end of the month and then I have a few weeks after that to work on it too. I am going with my running buddy and a couple other friends.

Also here in Portland is a race called Hood to coast- it's a team relay race from Mt. Hood to Seaside, OR. I think it takes a couple days. Anyway, you run three legs from 4-7 miles each. My boss has a team and is really bothering me to commit to it now that he knows I can (sort of!) run. I think I will do it, but I'm SO scared to tell him, cause then there's no going back. Anyway, I'm going to move onto OHR and then ??? Hood to Coast is in August sometime.

Morning Peoples!

W3D2 this morning. I thought I wasn't going to make it. The family went out tubing yesterday (pulled behind boat on a tube, with Dad trying to fling us off them - the meanie!!) and my right butt cheek is just a big bruise. My neck is so sore and it's hard to life my arms above my head.....but I tied on my shoes this morning and went for it. My bruised butt felt like it was a strobe light, it was pounding so much! But I did it, and didn't cheat! I will do 4 days of W3 again to make sure I've got it down pat.

After wandering around in a bikini yesterday at the river and I've inspired my sister to start the C25K as well She hadn't seen me since I started the diet and running routine a little under a month ago, and she was stunned at the difference in my figure. YAY!!

Hey Lovinlee, tubing and a bikini, you are an inspiration! Congrats. Looking forward to tubing on this side of the world as that means summer! And this year, I will be able to hang out with my skinny friends after my run.

hee hee - THANK YOU - yeah, I was feeling pretty special I probably shouldn't be wearing the bikini....but hey, don't look if you are offended I say! I found some old board shorts in my cupboard, that fit again!!, so at least this time when I came off the tube, I didn't lose my bottoms! Was a shame Mum left the camera in the car - i really wanted to compare photos from the last boat trip a month ago.

It will be your friends hanging out with their skinny friend, being very jealous!!

janamonkey - funny thing is I'm actually a winter lover, although it doesn't get cold here like it does in the States. Our snow season is soooo short, and expensive (it's a 6 hour drive to the fields from where I am), and I just love to snowboard But, it was a great day yesterday!

I lived in Whistler for a year, and there were only like 2 months that you couldn't go somewhere on the mountain and slide. I would walk through the town in my ski gear, whilst others would cycle past me in teeny tiny clothes! it was so unreal.

Good morning All! Cindy, so glad to have you back with us!! Mum, Lovinlee, Jana, you are all doing so well! Jana, good luck to you in training for your first 5K and the relay race!

This week is beginning W7 for me but I haven't decided whether I'm doing D1 today or tomorrow. Doing those 2 days in a row last week really pushed the envelope for me and I spent most of the weekend with sore knees and a strained muscle. It doesn't even hurt anymore. I don't see it as a real "injury", just tired and sore. This week I'm gonna make sure I get that rest day in between, that is so important! However I do want to get on my bike once or twice this week just because it is a release for me and and I enjoy it so much!

I'll be back when I get that first day down. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Morning, all!

Faith, I've never jogged two days in a row. That day in between is so important when starting out, mentally for me as well as physically.

Cindy! Back on the road again! Very good.

lovinlee, always great when people notice a difference. And you've inspired your sister, that's awesome!

mum22, good for you getting to the gym in spite of that weather! It's warmed up here a bit (24 this morning but snow and ice have mostly melted off, leaving roads coated with salt).

janamonkey, you are doing so well, only a couple more weeks until your graduation!

Keep up the good work, Chris, and thank you for not being too smug about your 84 degrees , I'm not sure how I'll handle the summer heat and humidity, will have to keep going early in the morning.

Sue, I think I'll build my own training schedule, I'm thinking running for time (40 minutes) Mon & Weds and distance (3.1 miles) Fridays. There's a 5K nearby the first weekend in June, if I could do it in 36 minutes I'd be thrilled. And I looked at their results for last year, I wouldn't be dead last at that pace

W5D1 complete. 3 day weekends should be mandatory weekly! Weather turned south again today, but for us that means 55 and windy. In the summer, I'll have to get it done by 8am, or be stuck inside.

I have done 2 days back to back a couple of times, but i try to avoid it.

roll on!

W2D3 done! Chris good job! A 30 degree drop in temp is a 30 degree drop and cold!!!!! It's all relative. Shelly, thanks for your support. Lovinlee, I do love winter. I love all seasons, which is why I live somewhere where we have all 4. The shoveling and sledding have been great workouts and a blast. You can go pretty fast on those 7 dollar saucers! We have an igloo and a snow turtle in our yard right now.

Hey guys! I decided to go bikeriding today and do my days on Tues, Thurs, and Sat. Works out better that way anyway as the weekends are perfect for going out to the tracks and plus DH gets to come with us!

Shelly -- I'm definitely not going to attempt 2 days in a row again! With feeling crappy last week and having so many down days I was scared of falling behind and having to repeat a week just because I was in a bad mood and didn't want to do it, ya know?

Chris -- Good job on getting thru Day 1 of W5! And I hear ya on the 3 day weekends. We work hard enough I think we're all entitled to an extra day each week!

Mum -- Congrats to you too for completing W2! I'm too a winter lover. Which is why I'm sick of being stuck here in Texas where we have only 3 seasons: hot, hot, and hotter! No, seriously...we have gotten some pretty good wintry weather here lately but when it starts out 20-something and climbs to mid 60's by afternoon it is insane!

Hi, Faith, go into User Control Panel and click Edit Signature, then just type in whatever you want to call it, highlight what you typed in and click the link button (the one with the globe and the chain) then in the box that pops up where it says "Please enter the URL of your link", paste C25K? and save your changes. That will create a link to the first page of this thread.

I envy you who had today off, I get nuthin between New Years and Memorial Day unless I take a vacation day.

Hi! I'm still around, but I'm repeating week 1 this week because I missed Friday due to a cold as well as the flu over the weekend. I started again yesterday, so today I'm just doing my regular walking. The last run was not a struggle! YA!

Way to go everyone!

Wow, Jana--you are almost there! It sounds like you've been holding up well doing the 25 minutes.

I, on the other hand, well let's just say I can do it but it is still a real challenge. Today I did W7D1. DD and I ran the same road we went bikeriding on yesterday, the one with the extra steep grade. Thanks goodness the wind wasn't blowing near as wildly as yesterday. However a little bit more of a breeze would've been nice!

Hope everyone is doing well out there! Keeping you guys in my thoughts!
