w5d1 was great! when i was done i couldn't believe that I really ran for 5 minutes, THREE TIMES! And it was not too bad either! It seems like the very first few minutes are the worst anyway.
About shin splints- I am starting to get them on my left leg- just a little bit. I just got some new fancy real running shoes from the new balance store and they also showed me how to wrap my leg so it gets better. day 2 is today after work!! i am nervous/excited... all that! |

Grrrrr.... I got up at 6:45 this morning (Saturday morning) to go to the gym to do W1D3 and they don't open until 8:00
. My ds has an 8:30 bb game so that won't work. And the temperture is -1 with a -13 windchill, so I won't be doing this outside. |

mum22- that is SO cold! I can't imagine even STANDING outside in that.
Yesterday I ran w5d3- 20 minutes! I can't believe I did it. I am the most unathletic person in the world, and while it wasn't easy, it really wasn't that bad at all. this really gives me hope that I will be able to finish the program. |

Janamonkey, fantastic. I watched part of the movie Zulu when I did my 20 minute run in the gym and I kept thinking 'If they can bear that I can keep running!"

I am going to ATTEMPT to join you guys. I was going to wait a while...but after a week of yoga I think I may be able to do this...it's just 25 minutes...I'll go slow too. I'm downloading the podcast right now and getting ready to set out on my 1st run. Ugh. I'm nervous.
It's been so cold here and I don't have access to a treadmill. I'll just do my best! ............................ Editied to add...I just finished my W1, D1!!! Oh wow...I am so out of shape! I didn't get all the running intervals, I power walked 2 of them. It's gonna take me some time...prob longer than the 8 weeks! I am just too fat! ![]()

Thanks guys! I really did get a workout. I cam in pretty winded and I'm worried I'll be sore. I'm going to get some yoga stretching in before bed and I hope that will help. Plus, I ate a really nourishing dinner of italian chicken soup (yummmmmmmmmmm) that just felt healing and wonderful.
Mum22 - We are starting together but your stats are so much better than me! I am really fat right now and I am worried about putting too much strain on my ankles. I am trying to think positive. I have seen those people on the biggest loser train w/ running so I think I can too if I just go slow and not push too hard. I'll do my best!!! |

hmmmm, maybe I'll wrap it in plastic. the earphone thingy is only quite short, so it just bounces around at boobie level (i have to hold it when i do the running bit!). might have to find some different earphones....

Welcome Sarah...several of us are new at this and just taking it s-l-o-w...I'm going more for distance right now than I am for time. I have marked a distance that I am aiming for. When I can run that comfortably then I will add to it. Right now I am glad to be running at all.
Good luck to you and keep reading this thread. They folks are so motivating!!!! We can all do this, some of us are just slower than others ![]() |

You are all doing so great!
Slow and careful are good. We none of us have anything to prove here and remember time is on our side. I love the fact that we are all at different weights and levels and support each other all the way. When I started I used to think of someone just like you Sarah, working away on the other side of the world and carrying so much more weight than me. It was and is my inspiration. I am lucky to be at my goal weight and i know that makes it easier for me.However, I am the one who had to stop for a while because I was in danger of damaging my joints!!! I haven't run since the first week of January. So you take it at your own pace and be proud. I get my long awaited running lesson on Wednesday and then I will be back with you ladies. ![]()

Welcome, Sarah! Good running shoes should help keep your ankles & knees safe, that and keeping a slow pace. You're off to a great start, you don't have to go fast, just keep going
lovinlee, is your MP3 player small enough to tuck in your bra? I actually gave up on earphones, my cell has an MP3 player so I just put in my pocket & turn up the volume. But I do go regardless of weather, exceptions (which haven't happened yet) are below 0, icy roads, or lightning storms. mum22, 1 week down, 8 to go. Although it took me 11 to get through it, I repeated weeks 4 and 5. It's good to repeat any week if you're not feeling quite ready to move on to the next. tymom and jokath, keep up the good work! Cindy, just a few more days Can't wait to have you back on the road.Started week 9 of One Hour Runner, it's supposed to be 30 - 38 - 54 but I'm upping it a little to 35-45-55, I have this mental block about increasing the time more than 10 minutes from one session to the next. It was really nice this morning, 36 degrees felt positively balmy after the last few weeks.

G'Day!
Hope everyone is fine ![]() ItsNot2L8 - i did think of that, was worried about sweat....think I'll give it a go! It's a pain having to hold onto it. We experienced the biggest rainfall in ages yesterday. When I got home the streets were flooding. So I did my W2D2 in the garage area of my apartment building. Was kinda hard turning all the time. A couple of residents came through and had a giggle at me, but congratulated me on my determination! I've really gotta work on not being such a wimp.....the shoes will dry!

I am back from w6d1- it was so beautiful out, 55, sunny. I ran a new route today along a street that overlooks the city... it was almost pleasant!
I used google earth and it was 2.5 miles- not bad for 30 min with 10 minutes walking. It felt harder than the 20 minutes straight.. I don't know why but the last 5 min interval was tough! |

Hey there and good morning! So sorry I haven't been in to post my progress since last week. I have been really down these past several days, just so much going on with family, etc. but my C25K plan has been going well! Did W6D1 yesterday and it was surprisingly difficult getting thru it, especially after breezing thru those "dreaded" 20 minutes last Friday on my W5D3. Perhaps because I did that one inside on the TM and just seems much easier, then when I jog outdoors as I did yesterday I am really feeling those inclines!
And as you know, we can control the inclines on the TM, not outdoors, so when it gets to be too much for me I can easily decrease that, along with speed, if need be. to the new guys!! Sorry I haven't got enough time for personals right now, just know I'm pushin' for you all and everyone is doing so well! KUTGW! ![]() |
