Marvin and Mslaster. Go, go, go.I never downloaded the podcasts. Meant to do it onto my phone but life moved on and then I was running longer so it wasn't so important. I so agree about the nasty little things that stick in your ears. Or in my case fall out of your ears. I am in terrible agony today after a serious return to weights on Wednesday. I did a Body Pump class with the lightest weights but my muscles are well and truly torn. You know how it is when the flight of stairs going dow looks like the path to hell? Getting out of a chair is the hardest thing you have ever had to do? Well that is me today. I shall be booking my 'running lesson' for next week this weekend. Well done all of you, and thanks for the support. This is a really great thread, thanks for being there. ![]()

Cindy, ouch! You poor thing! Keep us posted on your progress back to jogging.
Count me in as a Podcasts by Robert Ullrey are available for non-iPods, that's what I used. IIRC, each week is about 40 or 50 MB. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has trouble with those ear buds. I was starting to feel like I had deformed ears or something as DH and DD would brag about how simple it is for them to jog around with them in!
Marvin -- Hey, thanks for that offer. I will certainly keep that in mind if I can't get those other ideas to work out! Unfortunately my cd player skips (even though it is supposed to be anti-skip) so it does me no good tagging that thing along! ...It hadn't even occurred to me there were other ways to download the podcast. Until Cindy mentioned it, I never thought about downloading straight to my cell phone. Or if I can get my own MP3 or ipod I'll have to try it with a pair of regular headsets like Shelly did. It would be so much easier than checking my watch every couple of minutes! Kissa -- Take care of yourself and those torn muscles! Unfortunately I can say I know how much I know that kind of agony. I hope you feel better soon!Last edited by FaithM. : 01-19-2007 at 03:04 PM. |

You know, I just stood up to get my last glass of water before bed time and thought..."I have turned the corner." It is easing already! I know it is the 2nd day that always feels the worst. And that day is almost over. YAY.
Thanks everyone. Good luck with the download options. |

Hi all,
I just started this program this week, I've done W1 and am about to start W2 tomorrow. I'm wondering, even though I know everyone is different, what folks are using for speeds when they walk and then run (beginners) ?? Thanks |

WELCOME Relentless!
DO NOT worry about speed. Go for time instead. Going for speed can cause injuries and will put you BACK on the couch! Honest. Go slow. Go at a pace where you can talk or sing. Check out the cool running forum, http://www.coolrunning.com/cgi-bin/u...0&startpoint=0 has SO MUCH support for new runners, Good luck and happy running! Thanks tymom, yeah I slowed it down a bit this morning, and I decided to continue week 1 this week, and go to week 2 next week. I feel like I need another week at this rate.

Welcome, relentless! I don't jog much faster than I walk, was even more so at the beginning. I jog outdoors so hard to say exactly how fast, but was definitely less than 3mph when I started.
tymom, I finally registered over at coolrunning, there's a wealth of information over there! Thanks for the suggestion. Faith, the weekend is going way too fast! It's raining so I haven't gotten out for a skate yet but it's supposed to dry up a little this afternoon. Tomorrow starts Week 6 of the One Hour Runner, 30-33-41, rain or shine.

Good Morning All,
Mind if I post here...I started last night did my first W1D1 (thanks to Betty) thought I was going to die but I made it through the first session. I'm using the treadmill, even though I would really rather be outside. Its much to cold though for that. I've read through this whole thread and I have to say it really encouraging and I'm looking forward to reading more posts. Kathy |

Kathy! I remember one of my favorite things about Couch to 5K when I was just starting out was that there were four days every week when I didn't have to jog One Hour Runner Week 6 Day 1 (30 minutes) done I actually ran for a bit, had to get ahead of someone else walking his dog, it felt great and I thought I could run forever! That lasted about 30 seconds ![]() |

Relentless and Kathy!! So happy to have you here. DD and I just got finished with W3D1 and...Holy! That felt like more of a workout than last week's when I'd done that session by mistake! That 3 minutes seemed more like 5, unlike before. We jogged outside this time so maybe it had more to do with the cold wind smacking me in the face. I will say though, that my legs weren't hurting anything like my face was, LOL! Relentless -- I am with Tymom all the way on shooting for distance before speed just starting out. My first week I was outside so I wasn't able to keep track but I will say it was more like treading thru muddy water for me than even a jog if you could call it that, LOL! I had no speed! On the treadmill Saturday I was jogging at 3.5 mph. I try not to push myself too hard tho.Kathy -- That first day was pretty rough for me too...quite an eye opening experience! You will be so surprised at how much progress you make between the first and third week. For me, the mere thought of jogging 3 minutes straight I felt, NO way! However now I'm thinking, "5 minutes??" YIPES! ![]() Mslaster -- WOOHOO! We're right in sync with each other on our days. Sounds like you're doing great! KUTGW!Shelly -- I think it's great that you're doing so well on the OHR and even broke out into a full run! Wow! Even if it was for only 30 seconds. I hope for that to be me in a couple of months. Tymom -- For the first time last night I actually spent some time reading on the coolrunning site. You're right, there is so much valuable info on there. All of it would keep me busy for hours! Cindy, Marvin, Msgirl, Jenny...how are you all doing out there? Hope everyone has a great day! |

Hey, thanks for asking. Due to busy-ness, I wasn't able to run on Saturday, so did W1D2 on Sunday. It went really well. I'm so excited to be doing this....the longest I've ever run in my life non-stop has been 1 mile, and not since about 1988 when I weighed a lot less. I am fully confident that I'll be exceeding that within a few weeks.

I have just finished W3D1. I think I have met my match--that was indeed a killer. I will probably be staying on that week for a few weeks. Tuff but got thru it. That was the longest 3 minutes of my life. Well anyway, I will be back at it on Wed. Everyone keep up the good work!!!!!
