Awesome, gavinsmom! You did it! Cindy and Jenny, keep going, you can do it too I finished OHR week 2 this morning. It was nice, no squirrels, no strays, no distractions. Now I'm deleting the Christmas carols from the MP3 player and creating new playlists for the new year ![]() |

Gavinsmom, fantastic news. Yes the speed issue is interesting. I am sure I won't be running 5 k anytime soon either!
Look out, I am coming up behind you! |

Hi Everyone! Just got back from our Christmas trip to the frozen North and only was able to run one time.... I was all set to run one morning and looked out the window to see about 3 inches of snow on the ground. I'm back, got my Nike+ for Christmas and am all excited to start using it. Also I introduced my niece to c25k and hope she starts it as well... oh if only I had been a runner at 14...
GAVINSMOM! Congratulations on finishing! Happy New Year to all! |

I ran for 20 minutes without stopping in 2006!
Okay, it wasn't outdoors and it wasn't fast but I did it. I watched part of the film Zulu on the screens and it gave me courage I think. Next year Week 6. Happy BetwiXtmas everyone, and thanks for all the support. |

I just finished week 4 this morning. I'll be starting week 5 on Jan 1, 2007. whoohoo, I'm so looking forward to 2007 and the new me. Keep up the hard work everyone and thanks for all the inspiration.
PS. I am also a verrrrrrrrry slow jogger. I'm not even sure if what I do is jogging, Can I ask how long it takes everyone else to jog a mile? Don't laugh, but right now it takes me about 17minutes to jog 1 mile. |

Jenny, I am so not laughing, you're doing great! As far as I can tell, I'm doing about a 14 minute mile now, but when I was at week 5 I think it was closer to a 19 minute mile. I don't have a track or treadmill, so am using gmap-pedometer to calculate my route.
Cindy, don't you feel great? That 20 minutes made such a difference for me. Good for you, Shelby! Keep it up! Welcome back, Sue! What's a Nike+? |

Hi all! The Nike+ is a collaboration between Nike and ITunes using a small transmitter on your shoe and a Nano. (won't work with other ipods.) Basically you attach the transmitter ($29) onto your show or stick them into special Nike+ shoes, and it trasmits your run to your Nano, and then syncs to the Nike+ website (free) via iTunes. It talks to you, keeps track of time/distance/calories, etc, graphs your runs, and other stuff I don't know about yet since I have used it exactly once. I heard about it over at the cool running website and it got rave reviews... so out it on my list for Santa and he came thru. Very fun!

Okay, for all of you who have completed the program - what do you do after the ninth week? I haven't read a whole lot on the coolrunnings site about after I am just curious though?
This is really exciting - even though I am on W1D1 I can't wait until tomorrow! ItsnottoL8 - thanks for the link to this group! |

Hooray, Cindy! And welcome, msgirl! After finishing C25K, tymom and I (and others, I'm sure) have started the One Hour Runner, also found on the cool running website. It starts with 30 minutes 3x/week for 3 weeks, then gradually increases the minutes until at the end of 10 weeks you'll be jogging for an hour.
I need the structure of these kinds of schedules to keep me going, after the one hour runner I'll find another one, one of my goals for 2007 is to run a 5K. |

Hi! Mind if I join in here? I've been planning to do this for a couple of months and am finally going to be starting this Monday! Just got my first good pair of running shoes the other day and I'm ready to go. DD is also doing it with me.
I'm excited but anxious and scared too. I have never been a runner in my life, except in HS when they made me do it. ![]() Last edited by FaithM. : 01-06-2007 at 02:16 AM. |
