Bodyflex Tension Bar

Remember a few years back that gal that sold her Bodyflex program on either QVC or HSN? Well I bought one of those and she suggested using it along with some breathing exercises.

Did any of you purchase this Bodyflex bar and if so were you successful in trimming inches or firming up various body parts?

I never incorporated her strange breathing exercises but did use the bar about 4 years ago. It's just sitting in my closet unused.

I never purchased the bar, but I bought the BodyFlex book/tape. I think I tried the breathing thing for awhile, but didn't stick to it and I can't remember if it did anything.

As for the bar, moving your body in ANY way will help some I would guess. Give it a try and see.

Mary - I did hear that she was taken off the air because of her false comments - regarding breathing a special way and losing weight. There was a class action lawsuit and in fact the company wrote me and asked if I wanted my money back. I declined because I figured the bar might help....

I started BodyFlex in 1998 and lost 25lb in a year while still eating crap. I was still big..... but it DID firm me up very well. But it only took me so far. I never got any use out of the bar so I gave it to someone else. I DO believe BodyFlex does work, esp if you are one that will do no exercise otherwise.

Thanks for the info ..... I will definitely pull it out and start using it. I also have two 5# hand weights. I am walking about 2 miles every day - but I have to do something to build up the thigh and arm muscles...... looks pretty pathetic....

I'm a newbie here, but I had to comment on this. I have the body flex and it ABSOLUTELY worked for me!! I lost 7 inches overall during the first two weeks. I have to add that the breathing is KEY to it's success. As far as the FTC lawsuit, that was settled and she is now back on the air.

I felt completely ridiculous while doing the breathing, however, and I wouldn't let anyone in my house see me doing it when I first started. It was impossible for them to watch without laughing. I did tire of it quickly, and even though I got results, I quit because of boredom. I have a knee injury and am planning on getting it back out for that reason.

BTW, before I buy anything I see fitness related on an infomercial, I check it out at fitnessinfomercialreview.com. Body Flex got great reviews overall there. In fact, I read somewhere that the FTC had to concede that Body Flex's customer satisfaction was extremely high.

Thank you for posting your experience. I did notice that it sure helped my back and gave me great definition to my back (wearing backless dresses). I am going to start again tomorrow.

Thank you also for the website. I am going to put it in my favorites. I wonder who is reporting for the products ..... is it unbiased or in favor all items sold in informercials? I haven't looked at the site yet - but will do so now... I am sure it will answer the above questions ....

The reviews are placed by consumers. If you visit the site, you will see that some products get TERRIBLE reviews, while others get mixed, and others still receive glowing recommendations.

After posting here today, I decided to get out my chart from when I did Body Flex. The first time I used it was November 1, 2003. I checked my measurements again on the 11th. I had lost 6" at that time. I dragged out my tape and watched it again and took my measurements. I'm going to start again in the morning. I'm anxious to see whether I get results again. I will post in a week and let you know!!

Hi guys..

I love Bodyflexing..and a few years ago we had a thread on the Century Club..I was diligent in using the bar/exercises and lost lots of inches..

The breathing part is essential, though..and deep breathing is touted by lots
of fitness experts as a way to increase the metabolism and get more oxygen in the body..

Hey..I'm getting out the bar, too..and get my tapes out..because I do need to firm up and I KNOW this will help me..

I think I lost many inches..and 12 pounds doing Bflexing with lowcarbing

Hey...let's start a challenge..Get your tape measures out, ladies..Who is
game??

Don't forget to do it on an empty stomach! I think the first 2 weeks you are supposed to do it first thing in the morning. After that you do it twice/day...before breakfast and before supper.

I overslept this morning and didn't do it. but I did it the two days before. I'll definitely get up in the morning and do it again!

I would love to hear about the advanced breathing. My system didn't come with that, and I have no idea how to do it.

Thanks so much!!

Okay..

What you do is to: 1. Blow out
2. Take a deep breath through your nose..
3. Then do your "PAH"..through your mouth
4. Then hold your breath while you do your exercise
5. Then take another deep breath through your nose
and repeat the cycle..

You do not blow out using the advanced breathing..Only when you change exercises..

Deborah..You can do this breathing ANYTIME..I have a tape that I put in the
car that Greer made..So..when you are not exercising..just walking, cooking, etc..You can continue to get oxygenated and hopefully burn more fat..

This advanced breathing MIGHT make you lightheaded..but if as you do it, you will get more used to it.

I bought those tapes too!!

I didn't use them for very long. I probably never gave them a chance to work. If I haven't thrown them away, I'll dig them out and do it in the evenings. I like doing Callanetics in the morning. Actually, I may just remember enough to not need the tape...

Hey...I lost 1.25 inches this week..which is good for me as I am sort of at goal..
I lost .5 at my waist, .5 at my upper abs, and .25 on my thighs..I just measured
those places, plus my hips..(which didn't budge)..

Yes, Cheryl..DH thought I sounded like a dying horse..But, I also do breaths in the car..

In fact, I ordered a new DVD set from ebay cuz the rubber on my bar was looking a bit frayed..(from storage..LOLOL)

I have to confess....I didn't even finish the first week. Even though I know this works for me, I get so incredibly bored that I can't even make myself do it! How sad is that?

OTOH, I just started T-Tapping yesterday, and it's more like what I enjoy so maybe I'll stick to it.

Hi Deb:

Just do what works for you..I like the bodyflexing because it stretches the muscles and makes them look leaner..than bulking up..(not a good thing for MY thighs..LOL)..

Maybe someone else will join me.. This is my 3rd week and I can feel my ribs...

I never had the bar, only the original tapes but it really worked for me. I don't know where my tapes are but I think I remember all the exercises. I had a couple extra she didn't have too. Really good for thighs, lay on floor pt pillow between knees do breathing after pah lift butt off floor and squueze pillow. Really works. Remember to tuck under stomach after the pah.

I'll join you.. i'm on my third week now. I lost 7 pounds and 5 inches..and the biggest improvement was it nearly elilmanated my tension headaches. I was getting tension headaches everyday for years.. this week was the first week I acutally didn't get a few of them. And one disappeared in the middle of my blody flex workout so i knew it was body flex doing it.

I've been able to cut my medication from 2-3 pills a day down to 0-1 pill a day. Huge difference in how its making me feel. I could kick myself for letting it sit in my closet for 2 years before giving it a real chance.

I have a body flex blog if anyones interested in see it. http://realfoodinsanity.blogspot.com/

It didn't start off as a body flex blog but it quickly moved that way when I saw how good this program in such a short time was making a huge difference in me.

Hi..

Great..I love bodyflexing and even though I haven't lost weight lately as I am kinda at goal, my pants are so much looser..and I am working on the extra
inches..

I do the 9 minute Advanced breathing workout..And then I do the bar, too..
I ordered the new workout for toning target areas, which is good and has
more exercises for each area..upper body, lower body, and face.

I'm going to do mine now..I didn't have time this morning..

I ALSO do the breathing in the car..which gets up your metabolism and gives
you more energy.

Nice to have a partner..Carolyn

Nice! Thats actually impressive Body flex is still working for you while your already at goal. I find I like doing it, its easy to do..not a chore like I use to feel by doing aerobics or treadmill. I feel lucky its the only thing thats worked for my headaches. This gives me a reason to do it everyday aside from just trying to lose weight.

So far I body flex monday-friday before I eat. I know the neck exercises work because yesterday my entire neck was sore. I didn't even know i had muscle there but I really felt it yesterday.. it was a good feeling.

I've tried to get a couple of friends to do it with me..but they only laugh.. one said it was a scam. Can you believe that? You only need to check out the 160 reviews on amazon for the Be a loser book to know it works.

I haven't worked my way up to the skipped breath method yet. I am going to take the beginning work out as far as it will take me before I change over to the advance...hopefully it will be a plateu breaker

Synergi: I have the Be a Loser book..It is great!!

Now..are you doing the bodyflex plus program with the tape in the chair??
I think you can do that for a while as long as you are getting results..

It's wierd how this does burn the fat faster than treadmilling or anything..

My favorite fanny/thigh exercise is to get on the floor..knees up..Do a breath and hold it then lift your fanny in the air like a bridge..(get the picture?)..and squeeze at the same time..Breathe and repeat.

Well its funny. I wanted to do Body flex because im hate regular cardio and i said..how easy is that sitting on my butt getting fit? I had to order the dvd to get the chair routine for the gym bar because I had misplaced mine. I also picked up her older tapes from 1993. Well the old tapes came first and I was doing them for about 4 days before the gymbar dvd came in. By then I actually liked the floor exercises. So now the only ones I do sitting down are the face and neck exericises. Didn't see a reason to strain my back standing lol.

The rest of them I follow to the letter. And since tuesday and thrusday are the first days i've not had a headache in years. I REALLY Body Flex! I mean I suck it all in as hard as I can lol. That has me excited if it keeps my headaches away im so there. Losing weight was great.. the headaches were a big bonus I wasn't expecting.

Love my Body Flex. I could kick myself for waiting so long to do it!
