Hi again everyone, thank you for the welcome greetings.
![]() I am down another pound today! So I have lost 12 so far....and that is only in a week, today is the week more starting low carb again. I imagine the weight loss will slow down in the next week or two. I did my body flex today, again just while watching for tv, and for 30 minutes. I think my plan i have decided on is to do it twice a day for 30 minutes....the first time with resistance band exercises, and the second time with thigh master ( both lower and upper body squeezes). I also will be getting a stationary air bike either tomorrow or Wed, and will figure out how to incorporate the breathing with that too I think. I really doubt I will get the same results as those people who said they lost 40 pounds a month doing BF for an hour a day, but I don't see how it would hurt trying, lol. It does help having my apartment to myself again....I had the queen of drama living here, and....just nothing was in my control during that time, and no privacy. Now it is all me me me. Well, accept for my cat. This really is his apartment, he just lets me live here. Not to mention he DOES look at me like I am crazy while I BF....and often tries to engage my resistance band in a wrestling match while I am using it.... Oh, something I should mention, I ordered BF video tapes from ebay. It was the original first two from 93, and then the newer one with the bar. Because I did not have the bar, for $4 I just went out and bought a resistance band at Ross....it has two handles opposed to the bar, but I use it just fine. |

Yep it does help to have the house to yourself. This is why I am up at nearly 5am my time..waiting enough hours for my stomach to empty so i can body fle while the hubby is sleeping. I missed yesterday..first time in a month and I was determine not to miss today..
Let me know how your half hour sessions work for you. I've been using the tape from 93 also. I think today i'll try the advanced since I missed yesterday. Providing I don't pass out from skipping a breath. ![]() |

Hi..
Just did my 9 minute advanced...I really like that tape because of the breathing, but I guess a person could do the 15 minute one with the advanced breathing. I know that most people like the Callanetics and do thin down...but I am a pear, so most of my weight is in my thighs/fanny area..and my thighs did get bigger when I was doing Callanetics because I was building up those muscles and there was some fat on top of them..LOLOL. It's like the girl on Extreme Makeover who was doing aerobic step and had a big fanny..until Michael Thurmond told her it was the wrong exercise for her to do..That's what is nice about bodyflex............ Singing: Good for you..And we are all anxious to hear how the 30 minute sessions work out for you. My cat used to attack me when I was on the floor, but now he is used to it.. Once you get the routine down, you could go into another room and PAH..I have done that from time to time..but I can do it when Gary leaves. You can do the breathing when you are doing ANY exercise..Just do the breath, hold it..and keep pedalling or walking, etc..It will get you aerobic really quickly and burn more fat. Have a great day ladies.. |

I think I got a little too gung-ho too soon. When I went to do my second 30 minute session last night.....I discovered my chest hurt, like right in the sternum area between my boobs, lol. Bruised like. I did have my sternum cracked in a car accident a few years ago, not sure if that is affecting it at all. I think I just did too much...40 minutes sunday, then about 35 minutes yesterday...so after a couple breaths and it hurting, I decided to lay off. I am going to wait until later today/ evening to try it again, let it heal up a bit. I think I will try to build up to the two 30 minutes a day .....will have to wait and see how my chest feels. I hope it is like anything else and will feel better as I build up. I will keep posted here, and on my blog.

You might want to just do the one session for the week, give your body a chance to get use to it.
On a more bleeker note. The 10-11 pounds i've lost was 6 pounds of fat and 4pounds of muscle which isn't good. And stupid Amazon still hasn't gotten my book to me. Shipped last wednesday, i've half of mind to just go pick it up from the book store and send amazon's back to them when it comes. I need that book since im grocery shopping tomorrow..and it would be nice to have a day to review it before I take off.. I think losing 4 pounds of muscle has got me anxious to.. This explains why my inch loss has been slow.. ![]()

O Happy Day!!
My B/F arrived today, just the day before we are leaving for our trip! I doubt that I'll take it with me, cause there will be lots of visiting and whatnot. I'm just glad it came in time for me to tuck it away safely. If I have time tonight, I will at least read through the booklet to familiarize myself with 'pahing'. I just love the case it came in; so compact and easy to store. Thank goodness, all the packing is done, house is straightened out, and the refrigerator has been emptied So, I have something to look forward to once I get home, in addition to planning for Christmas, and decorating and gifts, and all that other good stuff. Jeez, I'm tired just thinking about this trip! I swore I'd never go up North at Thanksgiving again, cause it is so difficult to plan for Christmas being away from home, but we're incorporating hubby's reunion with Thanksgiving, so couldn't say no to that. I probably won't be on tomorrow, but hopefully, I'll have intermittent access once we get up there, so to all of you 'breathers, keep pahing, and I'll join you in a couple of weeks.

Hi..
Yikes..don't hurt yourself Singing..yes, it's good to build up the time you bodyflex..I think I'll do another set tonight..while I am watching Dancing with the Stars. Sazzie: Glad your toy came in today..and it can be safely tucked away until you get back..Have a wonderful trip..I forgot where you are going..but it should be a bit cooler than FL. Syn: Gosh..well, that is an approximation, too on the muscle loss..so don't get too worried about. Just eat enough protein to keep up the repairs.. Ladies: I read in Dr. Oz's book that 2 pounds of pure fat is a liter in volume.. So, Syn, you LOST 3 liters of fat!!!!! 99 ounces of fat...that is alot of fat, girl!!! ![]() I'm not going to worry about it. I'm a big meat eater so I should have had enough protein to keep from losing muscle. I did slack off on eating last week and this week. I was eating every 3 hours hungry or not then these last two weeks I just ate whenever I thought about it. I probably had meat 3 times a day on in those cases. I shouldn't have a weight problem..Food isn't a issue to me. I mean i've had my days when i ate way to much..but most days i dont. Soda was my problem and i've been soda free for a month *cheers* but i've been having a hard time getting in 1500 calories..i probably eat around 1200 which isn't enough... I jumped the gun and went and got my cookbook got tired of waiting on amazon. I'm just going to send theirs back to them. Now im in the middle of making this huge shopping list. Hopefully this will help get my eating back on track. Sazzie have fun on your vacation girl! |

Hi Syn:
So..you got the Body for Life Cookbook? It would be interesting to check out some recipes..probably lower fat/higher carbs???? Good for you on dropping the soda because my chiro told me that soda was the worst thing you could have for your bones..because it makes your body go after the calcium in your bones to balance the acidity of the soda..EEKK.. But, he also said that walking was the best thing you could do for your bones..Weight bearing exercises... ![]() see ya in the a.m... |

it was one of his Oprah programs that pushed me back on atkins to lose more weight... it was what he was saying about Belly fat being REALLLLLLLY BAD. which I have a bunch of also I thought it woudl be really cool to buy those fake 5lb globs of fat they show on shows like that (& biggest loser),, to pile in a corner somwhere to remind me of how much I lost,,, but at $50+ for each one that wasn;t feasible. (is it just me.......doesn't it , always look like those 5 lb globs look like a heck of a LOT of fat>> when you look in the mirror & don't think you really lost that on your body?) |

Hi gals..Did a little extra bodyflexing this morning..a few more exercises..so I'm going to try that. Three exercises doesn't do it for me...I think we need to be
sort of out of breath after we finish a set..don't you think???? Syn: Let us know about your program as you get into it more. aruba: Well, 2 pounds of fat would be a liter of soda...But remember fat can be in and around our organs, too..so that darned stuff is everywhere....But, when we use pure fat, we lose inches..which is a good thing.. Hi to everyone else who pops in..Hope Sazzy is having a good vacation. |

Yummm..this cookbook is great carolyn. I actually made something my husband went back for seconds on. He loved it! I made a ground turkey meatloaf.
1 1/2 pounds lean ground turkey. 1 Onion chopped 4 egg whites (I used one cup egg beaters) 1 cup salsa 3/4 cup old fashioned oatmeal, uncooked. (not the instant kind) 1 pkg of Knorr vegetable soup mix 1/4 tsp ground black pepper 1/2 cup ketcup Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, onion, egg whites, salsa, oats, soup mix and black pepper. Press the mixture into a 9x5 loaf pan and spread ketchup over the top. Bake in preheated oven until meatloaf is no longer pink in center and juice is cear. About 60 minutes. Its really good. Lots of flavor if you guys want to give it a try. Sazzie I took my scale back and exchanged it for another one. I couldn't get it to save my weight no matter what I did. It would save like my height and the date and all that stuff..but nothing happened when i clicked the save button. Hopefully this one works.. |

I am down another pound....so that is 13 in the last week and a half.
I have a body flex set back though. Yesterday I took a bad fall ( details in blog)...and really messed myself up. Feels like someone beat me with a bat or something...in particular my arms because I tried to break my fall...I have been a little worried about my left arm and hoping it is just sprained and not fractured. So, considering a great deal of the body flex exercises require arm movement and the like...i will be out for a bit. I think this weekend I will at least start doing the breathing again and maybe my thigh master...but I am hurting too much to even do that much right now. I bought a new scale today too....has fat and water weight on it too, which i have not played with yet, but it gives me the same weight as the other one..just this has a decimal which i like better as well. I am pretty amazed at how much I have put off though.....can't wait to get body flexing fully again....and still need to pick up my stationary bike. |

Thanks Carolyn.....I just am bruised and banged up all over, but I feel better today after taking a muscle relaxer last night, so I think I will be back at it soon. Despite everything, i had scale movement again today...so have now lost 14 pounds....surprised it is going off fast, butthen again, before I was sick I never weighed this much, so weight went off slower.

How's everyone doing? Sorry to hear about your accident Singinglass. Hope your feeling better. I am semi thinking of joinning the Y again. I use to take a water aerobic's glass. Its probably the only kind of aerobics I like and lots of fun. Very low impact doing it in the water. I just have no one to go with me this time and I hate going by myself heh.
I'm making a taco salad right now. I might make more carrot cake muffins. We add whew protein to them to make them a meal replacement. Really filling and they taste good to. I'm suppose to start my challenge tomorrow. I couldn't have picked a worse week. Today is that time of month and I feel bloated and just feel like crap over all lol. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I just hope im not retainning water since tomorrow is my weigh in and official measurements day. And hubby goes back to work tomorrow, so yay to that. I can finally get back on track with everything. |

Hi gals..
Just checking in to say that I received Greer's new program SSecrets. It's all about tensing your muscles while you do certain holds..It's very fast 7 minutes..but I feel I need bodyflexing to keep me stretched out, too... I must say my muscles were sore for the first day or two..so it must be doing something. See ya tomorrow.. Singing: Glad you are better..Syn: Yes, I can imagine that you enjoy having things back to normal..I hear ya...LOL |

Thanks everyone for your concern. I am feeling much better...my left arm just protests a little with certain movements----so I started Bfing again today, just am going easy with that arm.
Good news though---down another two pounds! :: happy wiggly bounce.:: I am thinking of doing the breathing while using my new stationary bike...like, take a breath, hold....and peddle peddle peddle, release....take a breath, hold, peddle peddle peddle....think that will be of more benifit then just biking on it's own? |

Well I was up a pound from a couple days ago but I might be bloated so not sure. But im down half a pound from my last official weigh in. However, I had a heck of an inch loss week. I lost 9 inches, 3 of those off my waist! And I only body flex 2 or 3 times last week doing the advanced workout. Needless to say i'm super happy to finally see some good inch loss this time around.
I was suppose to start my challenge today. But I feel bloated and im cramping like crazy and I just feel like crap lol. I did get my body flex done this morning. I'm sticking to the advanced work out for now see if I get any more results next week with me doing it faithfully all week. Carolyn only 7 minutes sounds good. I can usually stick to small work outs like that. Do you like the program? Does it get you aerobic at all or just toning? I may pick it up myself if you have good results with it. How have you been doing with your body flex? Lost any inches since starting it? Glad your feeling better Singinglass and grats on the 2 pound weight loss and 16 pounds since you started! Thats awesome! Last edited by Synergi : 11-20-2006 at 08:27 AM. |

Hi ladies..
Glad you are better, Singing, and I DO think that doing the bodyflex breathing by doing any exercise is a good thing..Some people would do this walking, too. The reason is that it gets you into an aerobic state very quickly and more fat is burned..Congrats on your weight loss... Syn: Wowee on the inches lost. I DO think that the advanced workout is excellent for burning fat..good deal!!! I can briefly explain the SSecrets exercises..so you don't have to buy the program.. It's all about tightening your muscles and holding it for 25 seconds..release and do this 3 more times..changing positions. 1. Your arms: hold your arms out to the side at a 90 degree angle..elbows bent and hands making a fist, facing upwards..now squeeze your arms like crazy for 25 secs and hold in your tummy..Release after 25 secs..Then move your arms 2 inches up..tighten and release..move them again, repeat, and one more time moving them like you were flexing your biceps.. 2. Your triceps: bring your arms in back of you, make a fist..tighten your arms and squeeze your shoulders together..25 secs..hold..release..raise your arms 2 inches higher, squeeze and release..On this one, you can lean your torso a bit forward..Repeat raising the arms until they are as high as they will go in back of you..Squeeze those shoulders/arms.. 3. Your fanny: Stand on the floor..on the balls of your feet..have a chair a foot in front of you and use the back of the chair for balance..thrust out your pelvis and squeeze your fanny for 25 secs..release and repeat 3 more times..You will feel it all down your leg..and as you thrust your pelvis forward you will feel it more.. There is a face one that is really hard to explain.. Does this make sense?? My weight has stayed the same..basically 138ish..but I have lost about 2 inches since I started bodyflexing lately.. I will definitely DO both of these exercises..the advanced bodyflex or target toning/SSecrets.. ![]() |
