I know, I sometimes do a few breaths in the car. I love you can do it anywhere. I want to do the skipped breath one...but im going to wait til I hit my first plateu...you can look at my signature to see where that hits..lol around 199..Thats when im going to give it that extra push and do the skipped breath method.
Suprisingly enough I actually like to lift weights with hand weights. Im just waiting til i get back into the 190's. I sabotaged myself last time I lost weight because my scale wasn't moving. But now I know its because I was gaining muscle. This time I have a body fat monitor so i dont have to guess where the scale is concerned. All the tools you have to measure everything the better I say! How many times do you do your Body Flex Carol? Right now I do it five days a week, once a day. Im tempting to do it 7 days since its so good for my headaches. I was reading a funny review on Body Flex the other day. This girl said she lost 60-80 (can't remember which) pounds in 2-3 months by body flex 1 and a half hours a day. I was like no way! I love body flex but wow I couldn't imagine doing it 1 and half hours. I don't know if that review is true. But if it is..it fits what Greer said about it burning 3500 calories an hour... Even so i'd be afraid to loose that much that fast.. I wouldn't want to end up with loose skin or anything like that.. I feel good about the face exercises. The other day my entire neck was sore so Yay! to that lol.

Hi..
I'm like you..I do it once a day...maybe 5 to 6 days a week..When I was doing it before, I did it twice a day..and did lose more inches that way..Before breakfast and before dinner.. Gosh..doing bodyflex for an hour and a half..but that is amazing that she lost so much weight so fast. I'm sure she had a "diet" going on at the same time. I know the routine pretty well now..so I can turn on tv. and bodyflex in front of it, which is nice.. Another new exercise for the dreaded inner thighs..which is on the Toning Tape..Sit on the floor..bring one leg knee bent in so it touches the other leg which is straight out..Both legs are flat on the floor..get the pic?? Then bend forward and touch the floor in front of you until you feel that straight leg's inner thigh stretching..It's a good one..Different than the row boat.. |

Hi Carolyn
Thats a good exercise. I have the book..I thought of reading the other book by Pam Grout I think it is, everyone swears by it also. It also has different positions and based on breathing. I'll see later if I can find that review. Most impressive if it was true. Is BodyFlex the only exercise your doing? Part of the reason i've got strength trainning on hold as far as using my weights is, I wanted to take several readings with my fat monitor to see how much in percentages of fat im losing just doing body flex as my only exercise. I think its a good test, I haven't heard anyone else mention they've done it. While Greer says the measuring tape doesn't lie.. neither does the fat monitor lol! I really love this thing, gives me my fat percentage and BMI and i've done it several times just to see if i'd get different readings but my BMI was always the same, while my fat percentage would be 0.1-0.3 higher which is normal since it changes according to if you've been drinking etc through out the day. |

Oh I found that review.. For everyones reading pleasure
![]() I CAN NOT BELIVE THIS WORKS!!!!!, September 9, 2001 Reviewer: A reader WoW! I own the video and the book for body flex. I started 2 months ago at 220lbs and a size 18. I am now 140lbs and i'm a size 8!!!! You really develop great lean strong muscles so at first it may not seem like your losing weight....but trust me the inches more than make up for it. You dont have to alter your eating habits but the workout makes you noticibly less hungry...so you actually want to eat less. I started out doing the workout for 15 minutes a day...now i do 1 1/2 hours everyday... i am so happy and i know everyone else will be too. Melinda p.s you really dont need the video the book will get you there and it will save you money!!! |

Oh I found this review, someone did actually do a body fat test. I like finding things like these for the extra encouragement.
4 weeks on Bodyflex so far for me = 4 pounds and 14 inches lost. The muscle gained weighs more than the fat lost, so I don't worry about what my scale says! My body fat went from 33% to 22%. I watch what I eat, drink 50+ oz. of water everyday and do my workout. That's it. My muscles and clothes are getting bigger, and I am getting smaller. That's proof enough for me! |

Thanks for this information..interesting.. I only do the bodyflexing..Haven't been on the treadmill, but could combine the 2. I have a fat percentage thing on my scale..It's not that accurate..There are other sites that tell you how to measure your bodyfat by using a tape measure and your weight/height.. I have the Pam Grout book on the metabolism thing..breathing techniques..but is there one with exercises in it??? I think it would be interesting to try to do 30 minutes of bodyflexing a day and see what happens..I usually do 10 minutes..or 15 tops..with the bar included.. Be gone tomorrow..will catch up later on..Carolyn |

Hi
Im not doing treadmill right now.. I did it twice the first week..maybe 3 times I dont remember. I want to see how effective BF is by itself and if I have to later i'll add more stuff in. Im hoping I won't have to...hoping BF and strength trainning later will be enough. See you when you get back! |

Oh well my weigh in went terrible today. Didn't loose anymore weight, fat percentage or inches...Completely killed my motivation. I think im going to have to start weighing in every two weeks instead heh..
I am not going to give it up yet. This was going to be a test to see if I could loose without doing any other type of aerobic exercises. 'I shouldn't be to disappointed considering I lost 7 pounds the first two weeks. I think 6 weeks is a fair enough test so that leaves a month to go. Bright side, I haven't had a headache since last thrusday so its doing something for me. So im off to Body Flex ![]() Last edited by Synergi : 11-06-2006 at 12:59 PM. |

I'm sure you will see some inches lost next week..OR you could try the advanced breathing and see if that makes a difference..I explained it to you, didn't I? Your body may be ready for it..it keeps you more aerobic for longer periods of time.. When I was bodyflexing (when I was heavier), the inches came off before the weight did..So keep flexing.. I did mine this morning..and I noticed my fat percentage had gone down on the scale a bit...PAH... ![]() |

Hi Carolyn
Thanks for the pick me up and encouragement. Very much needed lol.Thats a good idea, if I dont lose weight or inches next week i'll give the advanced work out a try. How long does it take to do the advanced? Is it 15 minutes also? Thats great news on your fat percentage! I know it works, to many people have gotten great results with it. Greer also said usually by the 3 to 4th week you loose inches if you happen not to before. I just dont know where the weight and inch loss came from. The first week I did treadmill 2-3 days then Oxycise, second week I did Oxycise a couple days then all Body Flex from then on out because I had got my tapes in. Im just hoping the loss didn't come from the treadmill. I really really hate walking on them lol. Here's hoping better results next week. |

Hi..
Well, the treadmill burns calories..we can't deny that one..but don't do it if you don't enjoy it, but put more walking into your day as well as the Bodyflexing. I think that the first fat you lose has been there the least amount of time..and it is ready to leave..However, as you go down, the fat is more solid and takes longer to lose..(My theory).. The advanced workout is 9 minutes..It's the one on the floor..however, I also do the gymbar afterwards..with the advanced breathing.. Did mine this morning..first thing is the best way for me!! Keep on keeping on..I didn't lose every week before (when I was heavier)..but I think I lost over 30 inches..over several months..You can do it!! |

Hi Carolyn
I did my Body Flex today and yesterday so im on track still. I've been trying to wait til im fully use to the basic work out before I switched over to advanced, course a 9 minute work out sounds great lol. I haven't been using the gym bar, since i've been using her old program from 93. I'm waiting to get to a certain weight before I start back to lifting hand weights. I just wanted to see how effective Body Flex really is. Im almost tempted to go on the low carb two week period to help jump start me. First time I ever did it I lost 20 pounds in two weeks. I was like wow. Course I never had results that good again, even after I gained it back and restarted. |

May I join you in the Body Flex.....thanks to Carolyn, I got interested and did some surfing on the net, and found one at HSN for $8.73 including shipping.
Seems like they are liquidating their stock for more merchandise. I was really amazed at the price, since the Body Flex website is selling it for $29.95, and ebay has a number of them at different prices. Not sure if it's the same level, but I'm just a beginner, so it really doesn't matter. I won't be getting this until 17 November......but, I can continue reading this thread, and familiarize myself with the routine.

Hi..
Well, there are 3 of us posting..and we look forward to hearing your results when you get the bar, etc..Sazzie..It's a great way to start and she has a book called "Be A Loser" by Greer Childers which is a great book to read and it also has bodyflex exercises listed in it and describes the process, too. Syn: What plan are you on? Starting induction again is always a good idea if you have a stall because it keeps you in ketosis.... I know that Greer says that you don't have to diet..but guess what? You do have to have a sensible eating plan..LC or whatever, in my opinion.. see ya in the a.m.... |

Hello Sazzie! The more the merrier! I also picked up the HSN deal because i'd lost the orignal work out tape for the gym bar. It comes with the intro, beginner work out, advanced work out as well as the gym bar work out. The HSN deal was a steal!
Hey Carolyn i've been just doing portion controlling. But im thinking of buying Eating for Life because I hear it actually has quick easy recipes that aren't bland and since they are made for the body for life program they should be good for my wieght loss. Since I actually do like lifting I may even try a 12 week challenge. If nothing else it should kick start me pretty good.. |

Hi ladies.
Yes, Synergy..that sounds like a great plan..Portion controlling does help, but with the right foods ..I'm a person that can't eat white carbs..so I avoid them like the plague.. Hi Sazzie...can't wait until you join us too.. |

I was digging through all my exercise stuff..a lot of it I have never used. My husband said waste of money since I didn't.. But now with money tight im glad I did over buy lol.
I ran up on my Bellydance workout and I thought hmm..that actually looks fun.Not like your basic aerobic work out where these fit buff people are jumping all over the place telling you ..you can do it :P I'm not going to get discouraged, if monday doesn't change in the inch loss, I will probably add something in with my body flex workout. Maybe Bellydance tape, the Body for life challenge or both. Only reason I didn't stick to Body for life, if you've read the book, the foods he has you eat are so boring and bland no one could stick to it. I'd seen the Eating for life cookbook and basically thought it was full of the samething, but im told its full of great stuff like taco salads, even lowfat cheese cake (not a fan but still was surprised to see cheese cake on the list) even chicken fajitas (sp?) which sounds pretty good. Also im told it uses like the basic 8 or 9 common seasonings you already have in the house, or at the very least easy to find at the store. Nothing worse then those cook books that ask you for stuff you've never heard of lol. I know what you mean about white carbs. I did take white bread out of my diet and switched to whole wheat. The only thing I do eat a couple times of week is white rice which I plan to switch to brown probably next week. Last edited by Synergi : 11-08-2006 at 01:53 PM. |

Synergi: Everyone is different on their diets..I do basically Atkins with lower protein and about 40 carbs a day. It's a plan called Eat Fat, Get Thin..and I avoid all grains and sugar cuz it makes me gain..So basically I eat protein/fats/veggies/ and some fruit/nuts..
Have you ever tried Atkins? When I weighed 195 I was eating an English muffin and egg for breakfast, a whole wheat sandwich for lunch, dinner was a salad, meat, noodles, rice or potatoes..Those carbs were killing me..I eliminated them and started losing..This is just my personal experience..but for me, it's the way I eat.. I think it's fine to add bellydancing..(I took a class once) to your bodyflexing.. Anything that is fun is great..And even when you are walking, etc...just doing daily things, you can bring in the "breathing", too.. These things are just my opinions and experience.. ![]() |

Hey Carolyn,
Yep i've done atkins twice..I started at 230 if you look at my signature and the second time I think i was 207 both times I stopped losing once I hit 199/198..Im not sure what was stalling me though. Now few years later pretty much back to where I started and trying to figure out what's going to work for me.. Its so frustrating though hehe. I did my Body Flex today to..good work out really felt it when it was over ![]() |

Hi..I hear ya..but one of the little known keys to weight loss is the amount of protein we eat. Too much protein will stall a person..and act like glucose in our systems. Basically, as shorter women, we should eat about 60 grams of protein a day..Believe me, that is NOT alot..2 eggs, 3 ounces of meat/chicken twice a day..That's it. And, good fats are added to the veggies, salads, etc. for energy.
If a person is eating carbs (like bread and rice), they have to be low, low fat and low calorie..like WWers people who eat about 1200 calories a day tops.. Maybe you stalled on Atkins because you lost that weight..and you needed less food because you were lighter. I know I can't eat like I could when I weighed 195..and portion controlling..like you said, is a good thing.. I think you have to decide what you like to eat..fats/protein/veggies or carbs/protein/veggies (no real fat)...It's kind of an EITHER/OR situation. Just some random thoughts.. Did my flexing this morning..Did the 9 minute Advanced tape and then got out the bar to build my muscles..LOLOL |

Ahhh....Thats possible, im a big meat eater. I was lifting weights two my last go had it where I actually made it to 191 pounds but I started that diet at 207 it took me a year to get to 191. Then we had this big storm that dropped a tree limb on our house and it ripped our power off the house. The whole city came to a stand still, bad storm uprooted trees all over. The city was out of power for a week, and the rest of us 2-3 weeks. We ended up having to stay in a hotel for 3 weeks, covered by insurance thankfully. However in those 3 weeks of not being able to cook I gainned all the weight back and I was so frustrated it took a year to loose it I just gave up.

Looks like im back on track again. Curiosty got the best of me and I jumped on the scale today. My official weigh in isn't til monday so im not counting any of it. But there was a weight loss, and looks like I might have some inch loss, at least in my waist.
Monday I will weigh and add it all up...if im lucky might be a few more pounds or inches lost by then but i'll take whatever I can get at this point lol. *cheers* Body Flex! |

Just a short nite tonight cause I'm feeling a little under the weather.
I'm anxious for my Bodyflex program to arrive, becasue in the next few weeks, that's all I'll have to depend on any exercise. I have not been to the gym for a full 3 weeks today and it looks like it won' t be for another 3 weeks. ![]() |
