CALLANETICS BEFORE & AFTER PHOTOS

I volunteered to start this thread for those who would like to see before-and-after pics for Callanetics from one source, rather than having to do a search through a million threads.

This thread is intended for posting progress pics and b/a pics only. Please address comments, questions, etc., to LCF's on the Callanetics Monthly Challenges threads, so that we can keep this thread easy to view for those who many be interested.

I'll go first, and hopefully many others will follow.

At the time, I did only callanetics; 5-6 x per week. Now I mix with other tapes, but still don't do much cardio as I hate it.

What tapes are you all doing? When I did a search on callanetics I did find some but they look 10-15 years old... Are you guys doing this blast from the past or is their new tapes?

The tapes are very dated and irritate a lot of people. I do super callanetics (DVD) but used it only 10 times until I had memorized it. I also do The Bar Method which is very similar but more modern tapes.

Quick question! Well, first you ladies look incredible! I came to the exercise board today because I have GOT to start exercising. I don't have any weight to lose, but I am flabby and icky.

But, does Callanetics work for people with knee problems. I hurt my knee almost a year ago and I can barely bend to capacity. Is there a lot of lunging or bending?

Thanks for any thoughts!

I assume you are asking me. At the moment, I do Callanetics, The Bar Method, 15 minute targeted workouts (Tamilee Webb) and a weight tape. It varies as I switch when I get bored.

Oh, I'm 5'6" medium to small frame.

I can't really answer as I haven't had this problem. But there are just a few exercises that would stress the knee, and those can easily be skipped. I would think as a whole, callanetics would help as it's a low-impact exercise and a lot of stretching is involved

Hi Bethie,

I've actually never done yoga, but have heard Callanetics compared to warm-up/strengthening ballet exercises.

Come join us over on the Callan February "goof troop" thread.

And, please, when your videos arrive, don't be discouraged by the shiny lycra and 80s hair and makeup. And don't be deceived by how simple the exercises actually look. It really does work!

He he he....
I loved the 80's hair and all. I had thoes crazy wings that took a bottle of hair net to keep them up.
I will see you all in the goof troop for sure. I will take my photos and get that going.
Also all of you that are at your goal weight (or are you) are you still low carbing and doing this tape to keep the weight off?
I have lost weight in the past but always put it back on. I want the cycle to stop. Even if I have to do it in shiny lycra

OK- after I saw this thread I totally bought 6 Callanetics videos off Ebay!

I am only doing it once a week as I am in a cardio/weight rotation now I like and I am kinda scared to sluff off on either right before I go away from break!

Maybe in another week or two I'll do it 2X a week.

I have done Quick Abs which I like and also Super Callanetics which left me feelin' it the next day!

WATCH ME SHRINK- your physique is FANTASTIC!! What other exercise do you do besides Callanetics- I love your arms? Also what's you WOE-LC? I hope I am not being to invasive!

Umm- yes, I did jump right in..ONCE!

I was so crippled after the fact that I have since bought 10 in 10 to do for awhile instead...I haven't gotten it yet, but it's on the way!

Quick Abs is fine- I feel in in my gut but I can still walk afterwards...I can imagine the results you'd get if you could stick w/ Super consistently- WOW!

Callan states in both 10-in-10 and Super Callanetics that people with knee problems should avoid certain exercises in the tapes (these notes are at the END of both videos), but that many people have alleviated their knee problems by doing her exercises.

OK, my turn for before and after (before was Labor Day 2007 - after was about 2 weeks ago). I do 10-in-10 twice a week, Super Callanetics once a week, and Tae Bo Original Advanced workout twice a week:
