I am new here. I have been following the threads but have never joined in. First of all, I'd like to say congratulations to everyone who is getting outstanding results with these exercises. I can't believe some of the pics. WOW!!!

Now, I have some questions. I have been doing 10/10 for a little over a month now, probably about 30 hours or so total. I am not seeing anywhere near the results others are seeing in just a few hours. This is very frustrating. I won't say I haven't gotten any results but they are very, very minimal. Nothing is fitting any different, cellulite is about the same. Although I have actually lost about 5 lbs since starting, which I have not been able to do the last couple of years no matter what I do. That, I can say is the only real accomplishment I have had so far.

So, my question is: I have always wondered about my form and if I am doing it correctly, feeling the muscles working where they are supposed to be, etc. etc. How do I go about finding out the answers to these questions?

I do know these work because I did them back in high school. But even then I don't think I was getting the quick results some are getting. Although they were quicker than they have been this time around.

I apologize for the length of this message and hope I am posting this in the right place. Thank you to all who are able to respond.
Hello and !

I think you should post your answer on the April challenge, there you'll find some of the teachers who will give you a more qualified answer.

It's very strange that after 30 hours done in such a short period you haven't seen any results. It can depend on many things, from your form to how toned your muscle were before starting: the more toned the quicker the results.
In my experience, as my abs were in good form before starting Callanetics, after 10 hours I had lost almost 2 inches in my waist, while I had to do more than 40 hours before losing an inch in my hips. My results improved since I bought Evolution and tried to incorporate all the concepts in my workout.
Sometimes changes have occured but as we look in the wrong place we don't see them: take a pix of yourself, side, front and back.Next month do the same, and then compare, and you'll see firmer arms, higher bum, leaner legs or whatever Callanetics has done for you.
Don't give up!
Ellie

I did this twenty years ago with good results. But, guess what! I'm now twenty years older! May I ask how old you gals are ~~ especially those of you who are melting away. What does 10/10 mean, BTW? And what's the "other" thread you're referring to? From what I remember, Callanetics is similar to pilates. Am I correct? The program just makes SOOO much sense. I remember reading about the spine problems Callan had. EEK!

I plan to visit here often. Please be patient with me. I'm an "old broad" compared to the rest of you, I suspect.

Heather2BThin,

I'm 52, can I be an old broad, too?? 10/10 refers to the original Callanetics 10 Years Younger in 10 Hours tape. The "other thread" is the monthly challenge thread, April 2009 CALLANETICS Challenge, where most of the action takes place. You can post your Callanetics hours, your questions, or your comments; you can post regularly, pop in and out, or just lurk. Lots to learn over there with several certified Callanetics instructors posting.

Don't let age discourage you -- remember, Callan's mother was in her mid-70s when she appeared in 10/10. I'm getting great results, if I do say so myself. See you over there...

Sorry. Fan. Gotcha beat! I just hope I can still bend in the middle. I seem to recall needing to pretzel'ize my body.

Okay, I'll search out the other thread. Hopefully I'll see you over there (if I can find you......).

Where in NoCal are you?

Okay, so you're somewhere between me and Callan's mother -- you can still do it. I see you're in Lake Oswego, which appears to be spitting distance from Portland (compared to where I am). There is a very good Callanetics studio there, run by one of the women on the Callanetics Evolution DVD, Judy Mooser, who is just fantastic. And she's in her later 60's. If you get a chance, go there for a lesson or two; she'll fix you up. I took several lessons with her last summer on my way to and from Victoria, BC. It was well worth it, and I still incorporate the modifications she gave me for my particular body quirks.

I'm in Benicia, by the way, in the northeast corner of the Bay Area. It's a looong way to Portland from here, and that's the closest Callanetics studio to me. So consider yourself lucky!

Inspired!

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for the inspiration I have been doing the 10/10 DVD since Sunday and have so far done 5 hours - I have seen small and positive results so far and am feeling even more inspired after looking at all of your wonderful pics and reading your stories - Thanks!

I was also wandering if anyone had heard of or tried the South African Callanetics DVD's?

Thanks
marilyn

Just a suggestion, if it feels too easy, you might want to double check your form. It isn't back breaking sweaty workouts like cardio but used to reshape your body. Usually you are using muscles that you haven't used before but if you are workout queen, you may already be using them through other exercise routines. Good luck to you in whatever works for you!

I'm 41 but I know some women a bit older than me that have used the DVDs with success. I think her mom is actually in the 10/10 video. 10 years younger in 10 sessions is what 10/10 means.

These photos are very inspiring! I'm feeling brave tonight. Here is my "work in progress." This is after 30 days of alternating 10/10 and an hour of brisk walking or biking each day, plus trying to eat healthier and just stay under 1600 calories each day. I am not there yet, but I think I'm headed in the right direction!

Thanks! I've lost 7 pounds so far. More losing inches than pounds, I think. The pictures don't show it, but my hiney is pulling up and in. Hubby said yesterday it is starting to look like an apple (I THINK he meant it as a compliment!) and I told him that was disappointing, as I was promised a PEACH!

Aw bless him - husbands are great aren't they LoL! They always manage to say the right thing the wrong way LoL!

You look like you have lost far more than 7lbs - you look great. Your tummy is tight and flat.
Its true what they say Callanetics will make you look like you have lost double what you have!
Keep it up hun. Well done!

I live an hour south of Lake Oswego, I would so drive up to be able to take a live class. How would I go about finding it (the class)? The thought of a live class excites me. Thanks for any help!

Question for those who recently purchased the DVD, does it give you Closed Captioning? I need CC or else I would have no idea what the person is instructing.

I just did my first workout yesterday. I am a little sore today -- but then again I have been working out with weights and pilates for months and might not be as affected as someone just starting a program. I would guess if you have not been doing any other workouts you should be prepared to have some soreness because it is a pretty tough workout.
I did the 10/10 one -- not the super yet. Only thing you could do to make it less painful is to start out slowly with other exercises before beginning this program...work your way up to it. Good Luck to you!!

Hi Karen -- The DVD's I have - 10/10 and Super do not have CC. The 10/10 dates back to 1985 and I think the Super was released in 2005. I looked around on the Net and could not find this feature noted anywhere -- sorry!!

Unfortunately none of the DVDs give you Closed Captioning. You can still find used copies of the original Callanetics books on eBay and Amazon. Would that help? You could read the book and then see the exercises being demonstrated on the DVDs.

With the exception of the new CallaneticsEvolution DVD, most of the old DVDs have a book that goes with them. Let me know if you need help in tracking any of the books down.
