CALLANETICS CHALLENGE FOR MARCH 2006

This thread is for anyone doing Callanetics by Callan Pinkney, If you wince at the terms "saddle bags" and "thunder thighs" and you want to, eliminate cellulite (who doesnt??) and turn that pear shaped behind into a tight little peach (that sounds so dirty ) then this exercise is for YOU! Callanetics is a series of gentle, precise movements, that when done properly can make a spectacular difference in the shape of your body . We are here to encourage and motivate each other on our journeys to healthy and sexy bodies.

For extra information, motivation and inspiration, review our past Challenges for Callanetics (October, November, December, January and February -- lots of pics, before and after photos and measurements, and loads of support!)

I've been AWOL.....SO SORRY!

Swamped at work, no time to post, read or anything else.

I'll have to catch up later.

Hope this finds everyone well!

Hello lovely ladies:

Today I did Callan quick legs, I love doing the open close with my bar.
I will be alternating quick legs and hips this week since its the begining of March. I want to focus on making sure those areas are firm and tight as possible for shorts and swimsuits

Twyla - Thanks for starting the new thread Swamped at work here also

I have not been able to keep my resolution to get up earlier in the morning, and have ended up doing half of super before work and the other half after work. Some days, I just did the one half. I'll figure it out eventually.

Tonight, I plan callan abs and weights.

Today is Hour 26. I took 2 weeks off callan: the first week was the TOm excuse, then I really got sick. I did hour 25 yesterday, and boy, did I ever loose it! I am planning to do 30-day callan marathon for best results.

I am glad to see a new thread- it means a new month!!! Spring is coming!

I'm only on hour three of 10/10, but I'm hoping I'll get the quick results others have. I finally pushed myself to do the entire thing including the stomach exercises that kill me. I just hope I can get out of bed to get to work in the morning.

I did hour 7 of 10/10 tonight - after not doing it for two weeks - I know what you mean about hoping to be able to get out of bed tomorrow!

Wow...I just attempted to do my first hour of 10/10

I guess I was naive to think that it would be easy...

I was OK until the barre stuff. I was using a wooden chair, and it was KILLING my ankles. So, I put a folded blanket on top...still no good. I was going to pull an overstuffed living room chair into the middle of the room and use that, but threw in the towel instead

Despite the fact that I gave up like a wimp, I can sort of feel the deep relaxation I've heard so much about...

I will try again tonight...any tips to share ?

Just keep on doing it. It gets easier with time! I'm on hour 120+ and can't even remember why I thought some of the moves were hard, or even impossible when starting out.

I hear you on the chair, I have the same problem. I do it with my sole on the chair instead.

Hello, Everybody!

Welcome to you Newbies!

Tina, I always wear shoes to do Callan BECAUSE of the bar discomfort thing you mentioned. I wear little slip on rubber-soled shoes and it works perfectly.

Everyone is being dedicated.....to those who've been sick, I know what you mean....been sick too, and then lots of other demands have kept me away from the boards, but I managed to do Callan three times since last Friday.

I'm feeling better today.

Did Callan at 5:30 this morning, then plan to do cardio tonight to undo some TOM damage.

Solveig, I agree with what you said.....persistence pays off....pain subsides.... What we used to think was so difficult or even impossible is now achieved in most instances "with ease," as Callan says!

Sticking with this really pays off!

Everyone have a great day!

Hey.....I just wanted to pop in and congratulate all of you on your focus, drive, and persistence in maintaining your callanetics workout routines. I have been lurking allot lately, but I'm still here with all of you. I didn't jump ship!!!!!!! I am so amazed at the hours some of you have tallied up. WOW......

I don't keep track of my hours of 10/10, but I continue to incorporate it religiously into my workout routine one to two times a week. I work out about 2 hours a day, 6 days a week at a gym......(40 min. of intense cardio each time, and alternate upper-body, lower-body weight lifting each day there). So every so often during the week, I like to pop my 10/10 callanetics in and stretch everything out and lengthen those hard-worked muscles. It feels so good in between weight training. I also do pilates once a week in between as well; great for my abs.

Anyway, I haven't been shrugging my responsibility to working out; I just do a wide variety of exercises; so I haven't been as loyal as the rest of you with callan......with working 12-hour days and 2 hrs. at the gym every day, I just don't have time to do anymore..... (But, I DO love the lean - ragdoll feeling you get after callan. There's nothing like it!) I hope to do my 10/10 tape tonight after the gym.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE. Sounds like there will be allot of nice-looking "peaches" out there this spring and summer......

Well, it's noon and I'm finally getting around to posting!

HARD CARDIO DAY TODAY! It was fabulous! A friend let me borrow a 3-CD set of Disco Tunes......TAKE ME BACK!

There's NOTHING like doing cardio to Disco music! The beat is JUST right!

By the way, I do weights on cardio days, and this morning while doing some arm work with a video before the cardio, I decided to do one of the "outer thigh" workouts that was on this same video after I'd finished the arm workout. I hadn't done this since beginning Callan, okay? It used to be QUITE a challenge to get through it, and I would have to hang on for dear life to get to the end, or sometimes I'd cheat and take a breather and then start again....just used to be a killer!

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, GUESS WHAT?

This morning....I did it all the way through and was barely challenged at all! It was like NOTHING!

Callanetics will strengthen your hips/thighs/legs LIKE NOTHING ELSE PEOPLE!

That's proof!

Spread the word, if anyone wants to tone their thighs, look no further.....CALLANETICS WILL DO THE MAGIC!

Have a great day!

Too funny - I couldn't find my post from this morning and realized I had posted on the February thread I had opened it as someone else posted there also.

I still have not managed to get into the routine to do callan in the morning. I think part of the problem is that I actually like to do it at night as I find it relaxing after a full day's work.

Being in maintenance, I don't see any dramatic changes but I keep on losing fat around my middle. It's casual Friday and I'm wearing size 4 jeans (non-stretch) and they are baggy.

Twyla - I also get that feeling that there is no effort at all involved. For me it's the stomach exercises. But then I remember how HARD these were in the beginning so it must work the muscles, it's just that our muscles are so much stronger now. Wonder if I'll ever reach that stage with the hips and behind ones. While I now can do the full count w/o breathers (1200 reps in super) it's still a challange at the end.

Solveig,

I know what you mean....the abs don't challenge me anymore, but then, I don't do that last ab variation on Super....maybe I should. I cut it out for time reasons.

As for the hips/thighs (1200 reps), I can get through all of them, no breathers, but you're right, at the end, I'm glad they're over.

Think about: 1200 reps! Heck, it's NO WONDER the other hip/outer thigh workout I used to do is MARSHMALLOW stuff now!

Just goes to show, persistence pays off! The stronger the muscles, the leaner they become.....! Woo-hoo!

If I were single/no kids, I'd do Callan in the evenings and cardio in the morning -- probably EVERY day, 'cause I'm addicted to exercise and that would not be a chore for me ...but until the baby birds are gone, gotta do it in the early a.m. or it pretty much doesn't get done!

Hour 8 completed (yesterday)...man, I'm slow! ...but I'm working in some other stuff in between.

I actually do the workout mid-afternoon...just works better for me. While I haven't measured, I definitely notice toning and my clothes fitting better...so, it is worth the effort!
