Callentics Challenge for January 2006

Hope you guys don't mind me starting a new thread!

Happy New Years to Everyone! Pix taken New Years Eve 2005/2006 with DH.

Let's rock with Callanetics in 2006! Come on, Ragdolls!

http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=jhzeqb

This thread is for anyone doing Callanetics by Callan Pinkney, If you wince at the terms "saddle bags" and "thunder thighs" and you want to, eliminate cellulite (who doesnt??) and turn that pear shaped behind into a tight little peach (that sounds so dirty ) then this exercise is for YOU! Callanetics is a series of gentle, precise movements, that when done properly can make a spectacular difference in the shape of your body . We are here to encourage and motivate each other on our journeys to healthy and sexy bodies.

Don't mind a bit! We finished our last session of 2005 earlier, and now we'll gear up for our first of 2006 in the morning! Well, later in the morning - or early afternoon...

I'm going to take my second round of pictures in a couple of days. I think it's going to be very interesting to compare the difference!

Happy
New Year!!!

Hi all.. I'd like to join in.. Well, that my plan anyway.. I did my first 10/10 last night.. I plan on that again today or possibly do AM/PM... I have a question tho.. I'm not one bit soar, anywhere today.. I tired to get the from down as best I could.. and boy did I get the burn on several of the movements... I was able to do several as well, all the way thru, but.. Like I said, no soarness at all today... Anyone else experience this? Was I really off on the form, even tho I really tried to get it right? Any help is appreciated.. Thanks! And y'all are doing fantastic!!!

I'm a newbie when it comes to this and just about any kind of exercise and I have a question. I did my first 3 hours of 10 in 10 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and then yesterday I just did the warm-ups. I've been sore every one of those days, but not nearly as bad as after my first hour and the soreness seems to be in different places at different times. My question is, should I take 2-3 days off to let my muscles recover or continue to do the warm-ups and just ignore the pain? I guess I'm a little afraid that by the time the soreness goes away so will all the results from the Callanetics that I've done.

Good morning, RMAI. Welcome! My guess is, depending on how much you were working out before Callan, you may experience less muscle fatigue than others. I was sore when I began my first hour, but only mildly, and only in some muscles. I did it every other day until about Hour 20, and my muscle soreness came and went, some days worse than other days, regardless of how many hours I'd put in. So you're probably doing it right. YOur form will improve the longer you go, and as it does, the soreness will increase...more than likely. Hope that helped.

Linda, as I said above, when I first began 10/10, I did it every other day. At that time many of us who were experiencing soreness decided it best to allow our muscles to rest a day in between. Then as we get stronger, we would do them on consecutive days as we felt we needed/wanted to.

Twyla--thank you for starting the new month/new year thread. You are such a steady, bright presence on this board.

I want to thank everyone who did Callanetics last year and posted your progress. I lurked for some time on the thread before I bit the bullet, got 10/10, and started my progress. It was your stories and your enthusiasm that got me started.

Today I will do hour 15--here's what I've noticed (please keep in mind that I am on a three-day rotation: day 1--10/10, day 2--t-tapp, day 3--aerobics tape of my choice--yesterday it was Petra Kolber's BREATHE II):

I am stronger. Yesterday I carried in a case of water (24 oz bottles) to the kitchen that would have had me winded and stopping at the door to drop them in the hallway in late October.

My thighs are losing cellulite and forming muscles, and these muscles are the ones that, on Callan, look as if they are going up into her torso.

My stomach is shrinking and pulling up.

My neck is lengthening and my double chin is shrinking (some discussion on the thread of this last month).

I'm sleeping soundly.

I find myself longing for and eagerly anticipating my exercise each day.

At xmas, my sister, who hadn't seen me for a few months, patted my rear and commented how nice and high it was (this is the best!).

I'm 48 (just three months shy of 49). I've been doing a strict atkins eating plan since October. I started Callan (and exercising regularly) in mid November. I was a perfect size 18, according to Lane Bryant sizing. I'm going to head to Lane Bryant next Saturday to see if I'm a perfect size 16 yet (I haven't been on a set of scales in over twelve years--that little exercise sends me spiraling into counterproductive neurotic behavior). Even if I'm not, I've still won. I feel amazing and strong. I hold myself better. I walk better. I'm in a better mood all the time. I am woman, hear me roar!

I was hoping to be able to join you all on this today, new years resolution and all... Unfortunately the tape that I had ordered on December 12th STILL hasn't arrived ugh. I emailed the guy and he states it takes 6 weeks to ship something from the U.S. to Canada! I've always received everything else I order within a week, so this is news to me! I realize customs can hold things, but I've never had customs hold a dvd or vhs tape before, if it's clearly labelled on the package that that is what it is. Ugh. What a bummer.

I didn't want to wait another 3 weeks so I went ahead and ordered the Bar Method on DVD , which should get here in 2 days. It's my understanding that it's similar? Well, at least I'll have 2 different tapes to try. I really need to get my butt back into gear, my weight has been sliding upwards since my cruise in October, I think I celebrated a bit too much

Thanks Twyla, I was wondering if that might be the case.. I haven't been good about doing any kind of workout for a while, but when I have I usually do these stretching ones, that I've been doing for longer than I care to admit... They are similar in many ways to Callanetics.. That surprised me! But that very well could be why I'm not soar.. I guess as time goes by, I'll find out if I have days where I am and days where I'm not..

I'm making it my goal this year to get 'her' back.. To many things have come up over the past few years and I've been taking care of everyone but myself.. I lost me.. I'm sure there's many others who can relate to that!

I've also found out I have thyroid issues.. At least that cleared up why I had gained some, in places I'd never gained before! And why, with doing everyhing right, nothing was working.. Talk about depressing and wanting to just forget it!

So, I'll take my meds, make it a point to workout and continue to eat the way I know works for me, and hopefully I'll be seeing results SOON!!! I'm excited... My son is getting married in May and I want to be, no, I WILL be, one hot mamma!!!

Demeris, your post was so inspiring....I felt every ounce of your excitement and enthusiasm...girl, you WILL be in those 16's on the next shopping trip, hey, and maybe even 14's! I just have a feeling! So happy for ya!

And thanks for the nice compliment regarding the pix. You're too kind!

Julie, so glad you'll be joining us.....I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get serious with my WOE now that the holidays are over. Maybe I'll make goal by February (I'm a SLOW loser!).

But the addiction to Callanetics has never left me, even through the holidays!

It's magic!

Kiki, (love your name) you ARE one hot mama already! You will be there, no doubt! I'm excited for you.

I'm hypothyroid too, and losing is harder for me than most. But I've learned what works FINALLY and began losing again in early November.

The soreness will come and go...but if you're like me, I LOVE THAT SORENESS! It tells me it's WORKING!

Thank you Tywla, on both counts.. That's very kind of you to say.. And coming from someone as beautiful and caring as you, well, it makes me feel really good

Just did the AM, of the AM/PM, and I think I'll like that one as well.. I have so much going on, starting the 11th, for a couple weeks, that I'm really happy I got that tape, too.. It will be easier to find those 20 minutes at a time..

It amazes me how thyroid issues can really mess things up for a person.. Both mentally and physically! But being determined and having the support of all the great people here, how can anyone not get to where they want!

I'm jazzed!

This thread is already hard to keep up with!! LOL

Happy New Year ladies.

My personal opinion, is that in the beginning, there should be a rest period for the muscles to do their thing. But each to his own. For me, the 10/10 remains a challenge and probably will for awhile.

I did hour 17 yesterday and I must be reaching new levels or layers, as she says, of deep muscles because I am completely and totally sore all over my body today. I was not all that sore in the beginning. Everything aches today. My sides, my pecs, and especially the hip and bun area.

I did add a couple of exercises to the 10/10 tape from the book a bit ago. I am doing the hip and butt exercises in the kneeling position and have added open/close. ( good heavens, but those are killer...)

I am so hopeful because I feel that "pulling in" she describes. I feel tighter and more toned and I keep running my hands up and down my body because it FEELS different. Anyone else do that??

Sungoddess, I totally relate to your exp about the soreness, coming and going, that happened to me too. Yes, some days I FEEL differently muscle-wise than others. You're on track!

Hi. I posted once or twice with you before. I was doing Callan pretty faithfully, but then got really knocked out by a cold/flu and am trying to find my way back.
I have medical issues that have impeded my wieghtloss and as much as I struggle, eating well and exercising are my only options. If I can eek out a pound or an inch, I am a happy womam. I do not have much to lose, but because of my medical issues, I have zero muscle tone. I have Graves disease, BTW. it's the autoimmune hyperthyroid. I was never a bag of bones before DX, but the meds made me gain weight. I hope that this is the year that my docs are all on the same page and that we preform the RAI. It's been 3 years and I am ready to be done with this.

ANYWAY- here I am. Hoping to commit and help someone else commit. I have the SuperCallan DVD and I love it. I thought that the neck exercises were too long and boring, but now I see how benefitial some find them. LOL!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Here's to a wonderful and "uplifting" year with Callan!! Everyone is doing an amazing job and will be struttin' their stuff come summer...although some are already doing it proudly....WAY TO GO GIRLS!!

I have Callans Fit Forever book and have been doing her Cardiocallanetics for the past week it is pretty easy to follow, and so I may start adding it to my routine since it only takes 30min to complete. They have been hinting at a Cardiocallanetics video for years now....I sure hope that it is still in the making.

Take care....bbl!

Happy New Year!

I hope everybody is set to continue (or starting) callan in 2006! I can echo many comments on this thread about firming up different parts of the body, and I'm not even losing weight. I thought my girls had gotten perkier from weights but I didn't notice it until starting callan and I have been doing weights for a long time. I also happened to touch my behind the other night, and didn't even recognize it. Can't recall it's ever been that firm.

I love reading each of your threads....the results you're seeing, the observations, it's just so uplifting and motivating.....It's great!

Thanks, Buzzybee

Kiki, I've been told off and on in the past that I resemble the following: Crystal Bernard, Diane Cannon, and Ann Margaret. I can't see any of that either, but I'll accept them with a big "thank you" too!

Just for more inspiration to those beginning, veterans, and to those considering: I keep having people comment on how much thinner/younger I look. The compliments just keep coming, and it HAS to be Callanetics. (Lots last night at the New Years Eve bash!) I absolutely am positive it must be! The gradual weight loss since Oct 31 has helped, of course, but not as noticeably as the toning/lean that's been going on!

Keep up the good work, everyone! Keep the tips coming, and share your progress! It helps all of us!

HI,

I'm going to join you for the Callanetics challenge. I did about 20 minutes of the tape last week and it felt great! Today I'm shooting for the whole hour.
