What is Windsor Pilates? Where do I get it and how much is it and is it better than Pilates for Dummies?

I've never done Pilates for Dummies. BUT, you can get Winsor at Target or from the informercial (the Daisy Fuentes one). I got the whole set from the informercial for $40. You can get them at Target for around $20-30 each.

Mari Winsor is the woman who owns the company. I like those workouts because they are short and quick (the short ones 20 minutes, the long 45) and you still feel like you kicked your own butt when it's all over with. I can only vouch for Winsor, but, after two weeks you could totally tell. IT reshapes your muscles so much.

Mari is really good at explaining what to do and how to do it.. squeezing certain muscles and when and why.. I also like that she doesn't do it, she walks around to make sure that all the others are doing correctly and she's able to instruct better that way then.

I highly recommend them.

I got the 20 minute workout and I got it on E-bay. Love it. 20 minutes I can do everyday. It is my understanding that Windsor is the original pliates and the others are followers.

Nani, Winsor is much harder than P4D IMO. I have the 57 minute workout and let me just say-woowee it's a toughie. I am amazed at how flexible those people are and I know I'll never get to that level! I would look on ebay for it-I got it there for under $10. The one I have is called Winsor Pilates Super Body Sculpting or something like that.

I still do P4D once in awhile if I dont' have time for the longer Winsor one, and I'm glad I started with P4D cuz the instruction on how to do each exercise is perfect.

I first started Pilates April 2003, and did the Pilates For Dummies 20-minute Intermediate level workout for 6 months. I TOTALLY recommend this for getting started.

After that, I ordered Mari Winsor's DVD's. At first, I did the hour-long full-body one, & now, I have been doing the 20-minute Abs video 3 mornings a week before heading off to the gym for my 30-minute full-body resistance training & then 30-minute cardio session. I'm only interested in Pilates for the abdominals, since I work everything else in the gym with light weights/high reps.

I just wish Oklahoma City had Bikram Yoga, because I'd love to get into that again! I tried it out for 2 weeks back in March & absolutely loved it.

When I was a member of Bally's about a year ago we had a wondeful yoga class that was crowded everytime that it was given. When it was completed you just felt good! Due to my stressful lifestyle I needed something like that again. I bought Baron Baptiste Core Power which is a power vinyasa yoga tape. Although it is a good workout it just was not enough for me. I just bought Winsor Pilates Advanced Body Slimming and you can feel the effectiveness in the first 3 minutes. It puts a great hurting on you. I love it tremendously. I can't wait add to my collection. Matter of fact as soon as I finish this post I am going to go do it.

Just as a factoid, Winsor Pilates method is based on the techniques introduced by the founder of Pilates Joseph H. Pilates.

I love Winsor Pilates, I do it about 3 days a week. I feel it is really helping give me the long, lean look that I want.

Sheila- I love Bikrams...but I haven't been in over a year. When I move back to Vancouver I plan on attending a little more often.

I was coming into this forum to ask about Pilates. Since fall term starts soon I decided to register for a pilates class, its 3 days a week.

Sounds like its hard but worth it. I may have to go get a tape or something since I have over a month before classes start.

I have the 20 min workout. Very hard on the abs but worth it. I think a class would be fun. I highly recommend it.

I own about 30 different pilates videos and the moves are the same. I don't have winsor but I've borrowed them and found no need to buy them. Joeph Pilates is the origanal and Mari learned from one of his students. Do what you like, I like using bands and circles and mat work. If you like what you have don't feel like you need to go spend more money. I've seen winsor at walmart and kohl's. Ross has other pilates for a really great price as well.
