Any fellow Catholics?

Hi! Just wondering if there were any fellow Catholic friends here. We had a thread for a long time w/ daily mass readings..but it died out after a few years. It would be nice to bring it back

I joined the Catholic Church at Easter Vigil - converting from the Methodist faith to the Catholic one.

It's been an amazing journey so far, and I love it.

I converted from the Presbyterian church to Catholicism 3 years ago after visiting the Santo Nino Basilica in Cebu, Philippines.

It took me a year to complete RCIA and I also had to get an annulment from my first wife since they didn't recognize my California divorce.

I'm Catholic too. I've been looking around for a good Bible study to start. Anybody have any suggestions?

I'd love to be part of a Catholic thread here.

A friend of mine sent me an email w/ info on a family bible study. Our church offers one and I really wish I could attend. The problem is that it's so late (7pm) and that is when I'm usually trying to juggle 5 different things + DH and kids

Does your church have a website that they archive bible study meetings? Ours does.

Oh - cradle Catholic here

Sorry to be so late in responding, I didn't think to check back - lol

For me, RICA was a pain in the rear, because I'd spent several years studying before making the leap. I was baptized and had been active in the Methodist church from the time I was 4 until my late 20's and I'd even taught Sunday School. Even with that, I had to go through a year of Sunday classes and was told that if I missed any more (I missed 6 weeks because of work travels) I wouldn't be brought into the Church at Easter and would have been forced through a second year.

Comming into full communion was like comming home - an amazing experience and I still get emotional when I think about it. I have a cloth that we used to keep the Chrism from staining my white suit in a bag - since I used it to blot my hair where it had dripped, it still has that amazing scent.

oh bless you! That must have been an awesome journey. We have great friends in "The Met" church Yes, I STILL get emotional when I recieve the Holy Eucharist. I'd like to become a Eucharistic Minister...the problem is I'm afraid I'd fall down!! Seriously! Crazy, I know...but can you imagine how I'd feel walking away from the alter and falling? Ohhhhhh...that wouldn't be good I've taught RE and loved it. God has me on a different journey right now. The hardest ministry...MARRIAGE!

So glad to see you!

I too would like to be a Eucharistic minister or a lector but am afraid of falling or something. Maybe we need to pray for confidence, lol.

I don't think our church archives bible studies but I'll check. Thanks. I've been looking around on the web and have come up with a few things.

I was a convert at age 16. Back in the day when we had one on one instruction with the parish priest. I guess when I finished the book and he thought I was ready is when I got baptized. My DH converted about 7 years after we got married. I have 2 grown children. One doesn't attend church at all except for special events for his kids (at his wife's church) and the other one is an Easter/Christmas Catholic. I'm praying that'll change.

As we remember Sept 11, I'd like to share the readings and meditation for today for anybody who might want to read it. It really touched me this morning.

That was a great meditation especially for this day!

Here is one of my favorite Catholic prayer sites. It helped me to learn all my prayers when I was in RCIA

Thank You Sandy for the Mass Reading! Yes, I agree, very appropriate to think about especially today.

David Thank You for that link! I have several little prayer books & daily devotionals that I absolutely LOVE. Now I can save that link and refer to it here on my comp. Thanks again!

Would you all like to start a weekly thread? We use to have one that lasted a few years but it faded away. SweetSilverBird did a wonderful job keeping the thread beautiful with awesome graphics. Maybe I can track here down once again and tell her we have another group now that is interested

Have a blessed night everyone!

I found a great web site online somebody else might enjoy too. It's a forum/message board; If you want the address let me know. I don't think I can post the link here.
There are some great posts there.

Thank You for the link Sandy! We're going to Teen Mass (Evening Mass) today. I just hope the cry room isn't so loud this time.

I'll check out those links in just a while.

Hello All!,

I'm new to low carb friends and posted my introduction in the mail lobby threads.

I'm also a fairly new Catholic. I was initiated last year (april,2007), at the Easter vigil. I was bapitzed around the age of 9 but never went through any of the classes to get communion and confirmation as a child. Apparently my parents thought it was important for me to get baptized but not to be confirmed...we never went to Mass.

I'm happy to have found this thread and look forward to see what becomes of it.

God Bless You All

Valerie

I was baptized as a Catholic as a baby but never confirmed as my parents drew away from the faith.

Over the years I've attended a few services but never had an interest or perhaps the Protestant/Catholic grew too political for my taste. (I live in the Boston area.)

I am happy to see there is a thread.

God Bless!

Hello All *

New to the Low Carb Board here... Raised Catholic, still Catholic...

My DD is 7 and we attend Children's Mass every Saturday night...It is such a joy to hear here singing the songs we sing in church during the week when she is coloring or playing with the Dog.. I know my prayers are being answered. I was away from the Church for many years as a young adult and am happy to be back.. I am truly Blessed everyday....Our Heavenly Father is good !!!

Be Well
