I would also love to know how to make these!

I have 2 rosaries, one was given to me when I was very little, the other one was given to me by a friend who was at World Youth Day in Toronto a few years ago. It is blessed by Pope John Paul II, so it is very very special to me.

My rosary was given to me by my older brother in 1967 when he was in the Navy. He went to Tijuana while stationed in San Diego and bought it for me there. It's beautiful and I love it. He made me feel pretty special when he brought that home for me. I was a recent convert at the time and was only 17 years old and idolized my big brother so was very touched that he remembered me with a gift of my rosary.

This one shows four rosaries - one end has a child's rosary - cream cord in a small braid. The next two are for the military to send overseas. The last one is one for the Hospital Ministry at my church.

This is a close up of the Army Camo pattern rosary. The crucifix is black plastic.

They're super easy to make. I ride the bus to and from downtown ~30 minutes. My friend makes them on a regular basis and had some scrap cord. By the time I got home, I was comfy with the Our Father knots, Hail Mary knots, and the centerpiece knot.

The first two I made weren't very pretty and I picked out more knots than I put in. However, tonight, I made two in about an hour and a half. Both of them for the hospital ministry.

I haven't figured out how to take close up pictures I tried several close ups of the knots on one of the rosaries and they didn't come out that close up. I'll try to describe the knots.

Take a 17 foot piece of nylon cord (both ends burned so it won't ravel) and in the center cross the cord across your fingertip, then take the end which is going off the end of your finger and make five loops working back towards your hand. After you get five loops, thread the end of it back through the five loops and very carefully tighten it. When it snugs up, it will be a nice tight "log". The Hail Mary beads are three loops over the finger, and the centerpiece uses both ends and loops over the finger twice (so you have four loops). The only really tricky knot is the crucifix one. It's a standard Our Father knot, but you have to fuss over the amount of cord or it REALLY hangs down.

Advent is here.....what are your advent traditions? I need to buy some new candles this year for our little table wreath. This year I want to be more diligent about praying EVERY NIGHT our advent prayer & read bible verses w/ the kids at dinner.

Please share your traditions with us

I have a big family, with 3 grown children, their spouses, and 11 grandchildren (2 are teenagers, 2 are pre-teen age so they think they are teenager!) we always have something on and not always good. I reminded my adult children that we are now in the Advent season and the devil will run on our heels to get us out of our Spirit, to think before reacting, bring all things to God first, and pray like we would be see Jesus in the flesh real soon......

I think we should name our group

Suggestions?

I'd also like to make a special December thread so we can share this Holy month and all it's glory with one another.
