Any Pagans here?

Wiccan? Eclectic? Others?

I know I'm in the minority, but I thought I'd throw it out...

How fun! Thanks for sharing.

I usually don't hang out in this section, but I was curious.

I think it's interesting how in Paganism we get in touch with times before the written word. As low-carbers, we're eating more like the way things were before the written word.

Just thinking out loud...

I think you make a lot of sense. So-- here's a question; have you found Paganism to be helpful in your fitness journey? And what path in Paganism do you follow? I'm more of a Hedge-Witch myself.

Erica,

I'm just starting to explore Paganism. I've found a coven with some really good folks and I've started to have book discussions and meetups of other kinds with them. So I can't really say if it's helped with my fitness.

As for path... again, not sure. Someone told me that as I learn more about the different traditions, the right one will pick me and I'll know it.

I looked up Hedgewitch on Wikipedia. Looks interesting.

Are you involved in a group?

Do you find the study of herbs helpful in your fitness?

I've been blissfully solitary for about 20 or so years. Herbs come in handy, and there are all sorts of spells, rituals, herbal teas and such to aid in the loss of weight, working on self esteem, etc,.

So are you going for a TradCraft (as in Gardnerian) kind of thing, or more of an Eclectic Pagan approach?

Wow. 20 years on your own is a long time. I imagine you did a lot of book learning. I couldn't do that. I'm a people person

Again, I'm just starting out, so I'm not familiar with all the flavors of Paganism. But from what I gather, the Eclectic Pagan approach sounds right.

I actually started out solitary, then joined a Coven- the Coven imploded!

Since then, I've chosen to work alone. But I've worked in a Metaphysical Bookstore for the last 12 years or so-- so, I think I've learned a lot by osmosis.

Yeah, I've heard that sometimes covens do that. Paganism has the blessing of a diverse community. But, sadly, sometimes different elements don't combine well.

Osmosis is good. I'm kind of a slow reader, so maybe putting some books under the pillow will help.

Feel free to PM if you want to chat about this. You know way more than I do, but sometimes a novice perspective is helpful. I'm always open to your insights.

Oo. This is my first post. I wasn't expecting to find a thread on paganism in here, but was really glad I did. I'm a hellenistic pagan.

Hello Medusa!

It would be really cool to have a Pagan support thread. I'm new to Paganism and am reading some of the most popular literature out there. ("reading" as best I can. Some of it is pretty heavy). There's a lot of overlap between Paganism and LC.

How long have you been involved? Coven?

If not too personal, be sure to fill in your stats and put your real name in your signature.

Will do.

I've been a practicing pagan for a little under 10 years. I was sent on a study mission by my Christian therapist to research religions that included a divine feminine. This was long before women's spirituality was really popular.

I've belonged to several groups, but they never last. . . "herding cats" and all that. Mostly, I keep to myself, but I have a few pagan friends that I sometimes work with. My homebase, I guess you could say, is online. I've been a member of Mysticwicks almost since it was created. Are you a member there? I don't know if I'm allowed to post the link here.

What are you reading? What overlap do you see between LC and paganism?

So you're in beautiful WV. When I studied physics at Univ. MD at College Park, we went to the radio observatory in Greenbank a couple of times. Nice country. I used to live in Charlottesville, VA. Also a somewhat green area not too far from WV.

I'm very lucky to be in an area where there is a fairly active Wicca group. For some reason there seem to be more witches in Massachusetts. Go figure... This is the link if interested: The Milford Wicca Meetup Group (Milford, MA) - Meetup.com

BTW, it's OK to post links as long as you're not trying to sell something. I'll do a Google for Mysticwicks.

Right now a bunch of us are reading and discussing "Drawing Down the Moon". Have you read that? I get some chapters better than others.

As for LC and Paganism... One interesting point in this book is the etymology of the word "religion" which means to "reunite". Paganism is often thought of (correctly) as a nature religion. Here's where I make a little bit of a jump, but not too far I hope...

We (human beings) are the product of hundreds of millions of years of evolution (a natural process). To me, this WOE is a kind of reunion with how nature meant for us to feed ourselves. Clearly, our Pagans ancestors were eating LC without even thinking about it.

Yes. There's a minimum time requirement (how long on the forum) as well as a posting minimum. I forget the details. It's in the forum rules somewhere...

Hi! Been pagan since 1996.

I am a solitary witch, although I have been active with groups in the past. Now, I just have no time. Mostly I learned from books.

Here is a basic definition of a kitchen witch. Books by Patricia Telesco, the Campanelli's and Scott Cunningham also tend to emphasize a lot of what I deal in.

Kitchen/Cottage witchcraft: A Kitchen witch, or Cottage witch, practices magick around the hearth and home. The home is a sacred place, and the use of herbs is used often to bring protection, prosperity and healing. Kitchen witches often follow more than one path of witchcraft.

Merry Meet everyone.

My name is Cary and I am Eclectic Wiccan (solitary practitioner).
I consider myself a Green Witch and Kitchen Witch.

Been reading and seriously studying for going on 15 years this Fall.

Right now I am reading "The Circle Within - Creating a Wiccan Spiritual Tradition" by Dianne Sylvan

I have many books in my library.. but this is one of my very favorites so far.
I highly recommend it to everyone.. those new to the path and sages as well.

Does anyone find they are really drawn to more ritual in the Fall? There is something about this time of the year for me that always boosts me - energy wise.

wondered if any others felt that?

Blessings,
Cary~
