"Sistas in Christ" Vol. 5

Hi Ladies,

Here's to a fresh start and a new day that the Lord has allowed us to see . This will be a place where will make ourselves at home, spread the goodness of the Lord, and encourage one another with this way of eating.

We will "respect" one another's concerns, beliefs, and etc. Not that we have to believe in them ourselves, but respect is required. If we need to speak to one another personally, PM is great for that.

Let's continue to make the "Sistas" in Christ thread, all that the God would want it to be !

Thanks godsbeloved and you really are that. Do we really know what it means to be loved by God. You know he made each on us unique and very special in our own way. There is not another person in this world like us. Isn't that just wonderful that God made us the way he did, and you know what? Our personalities come from him too, so we should want to change the way we are for anybody... Something to think about...

We have had a really rough afternoon. We have dial-up Internet Service and we got notice today that AT&T no longer honors that hook-up on our unlimited long distance, so it took my Dear Henry 3 hrs. to get something done. We not have the 1+ thing where, we have to five 5 cents a minute for long distance and costing us another additional 15 dollars a month. Gees, they are going to get it from you some way.

Not only that but, Marvin and Margaret will be getting here an hr. later because of a chemical spill and held up traffic, so they won't be getting here until around 8 tonight and I am already exhausted from this afternoon of dealing with the phone company and I couldn't find a new bottle of my stomach medicine but my Henry found them for me, so right now we are trying to wind down, so needless to say that he has been rough but we came through it with flying colors. Thank you God...

I hope all of you have a wonderful evening. I will probably be MIA until next Tuesday sometime. Hold the fort down for me girls and be blessed...

Hi Ladies,

Godsbeloved, thanks so much for starting a new thread for us. I love you and appreciate your insight and looking out for us as a group. We need to respect one another and our personal beliefs. We are to be like Christ and to love one another in Christ Jesus.

Patty and Diana, I love you too!!! You are my christian friends and spiritual advisors. I thank you for your loving support and affectionate friendship, because once you become my friend, we are friends forever!!!

Oh Patty, we will hold the fort for you when you are MIA. But, don't be away too long, okay?

Ladies, what's unique about this group is that although we christians come from different backgrounds, we have unity in Christ Jesus without boarders.

Here's some scripture for comfort,

"How good and pleasant it is when brothers [and sisters of the faith] live together in unity!" Psalm 133:1 NIV.

"Let us not become weary in doing food, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially those who belong to the family of believers." Galations 6:9-10 NIV.

God Bless You All in Christ Jesus!!!

Thanks Tammy. This post meant a lot to me .

I'm no way near perfect, but I try to be the best that I can and love like God loves us.

The Glory of the Seasons

Read Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.
-Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)

EACH season is glorious. The glory of summer is different from the glory of fall. And the splendor of winter is different from spring.

God takes us through different seasons in our lives: seasons of reoicing, mourning, saying hello and goodbye, building up and tearing down. The glory of the season of rejoicing is laughter, refreshment, and revitalization. The gift of the season of mourning can be profound intimacy with the Lord.

Whatever our current season, it will not last. We can no more remain in one season of life than one kind of weather can last throughout the year. Life brings seasons of both mourning and dancing, times of embracing and times to refrain from embracing.

The key, of course, is to remember that God is at work within us in each season. We are not always aware of what God is doing; often each season brings about change and growth. God begins the good work, sustains it, and will bring it to completion. (See Phil. 1:6.)

Prayer
Thank you, God, for the glory of each season. May we fulfill your purposes throughout our lives. Amen.

Thought for the Day

How am I growing in this season of my life?

Prayer Focus
To see God's work

I decided to come in again, and hope you all will accept me back. I agree about what you all said in the beginning of this thread - if someone can't accept ya or like you - it's their problem not mine. I believe this! As true friends will love and accept you unconditionally, and those who don't, aren't ones to have.

la.lady
: Imho, Church begins at home. The Domestic Church... have you heard of this term? I like the concept. My son has known Jesus since he was a wee infant. Even in my stomach I read to him and taught him. He loves going to Mass, he loves pretending to sing hymns and does pray with me. Being a future teacher of Sunday school, I believe when you are a parent, it's your duty to begin early, teaching children about God, about prayer, about Jesus, etc. It begins there, and they learn more while at Church. I hope he grows up to be a great Christian boy and man. I also hope my dh converts from being agnostic, to being Christian.

Godsbeloved
: thanks for the welcome back.

I watched the movie "Happy Feet" twice with my son today and it made me feel better.

Ladies,

back PreciousOne!!! I've always wanted to see "Happy Feet." When it first came out, I saw the preview and the penguins looked so cute. Now I think I'm missing something and want to see it too. Your son sounds like a wonderful boy. God bless you!!!

Mary and Godsbeloved!!!

Ladies, I went to my eye appointment today after work and my eyes are healing quite well. For some of you that don't know, I had laser eye surgery a week ago. My eyes are not stable yet, but are healing very well. [ that's a relief!!! LOL]. They said I will need reading glasses because of my age being in my mid forties. The progress is slow, but it will take 3 months to determine whether I will need a touch-up or not, [after 3 months they will do it free of charge, 'cause the insurance will cover the cost]. I have nothing to worry about and I'm confident that God has his hand on me. Keep me in your prayers, thanks.

Blessing to you all and have a great night,

Tammy,

It is a good movie, and so entertaining. Anything with Robin Williams in it (he does a voice of a wee penguin named Lovelace) has got to be good hehe

Btw, I always wanted laser eye surgery. My SIL Diane and my SIL Erica both had it done and are so happy about it. I've had glasses since I was 15, as I am nearsighted.

God bless!

This heat is killin' me...

Dfd for today,
Quote:

Philippians 1:23-24
For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

Paul questioned why God had put him on Earth in the first place. Being fat seemed like unnecessary torture. The diets were killers, and they didn't seem to do any good, anyway. What was the use of trying and failing over and over again? Better to never have been born. Despair and frustration are a part of dieting. Often it seems so hopeless. Still, God has given us life as a gift. We prepare ourselves in this life for eternal life in God's presence. Now is the time we need to learn self-discipline and control. Now is the time to strive to be everything we are meant to be. Our life in the flesh is necessary, and it is up to us to make sure we take proper care of ourselves.

Today's thought: I'll try my hardest to lose weight today, because I may not get another chance!

PreciousOne, I love Robin Williams!!! He's such a funny guy.

I'm also nearsighted and have worn glasses since the age of 10. Before the surgery, I heard good things about it and did some research on the internet. It's still a bit expensive, but affordable. They said that they couldn't fix my nearsightedness because of my age, but said that my farsightedness would improve over a 3 month period. They have to test you first to see if you are a good candidate for the surgery.

Here's the website: LASIK Seattle, Washington - Clearly LASIK

God Bless, Tammy

Tammy,

Were you scared about getting it done? What was the surgery like? I'm such a scaredy cat when it comes to surgeries... I mean, it is something I'd love to do as a reward for losing weight, someday. Then I can get fancy sunglasses...! hehe I always get jealous a bit of dh and ds who wear sunglasses and I myself have glasses (no photograze on them to make them tint, as that didn't really sheild me from the sun like I thought it would)...

I wear glasses to and have often thought getting my eyes fixed so iIwouldn't have to wear them but my insurance will not pay for it to be done. Is your insurance paying for it?
I had a friend who just had her eyes done about three months ago and her insurance would not pay either and she had to pay it all.
Meantime I will jsut wear my glasses.

I cannot predict the future, I cannot change the past. I have just the present moment, I must treat it as my last.

I must use this moment wisely, for it soon will pass away, and be lost to me forever as part as yesterday.

I must exercise compassion, help the fallen to their feet, be a friend unto the friendless, make an empty life complete.

The unkind things I do today, may never be undone, and the friendships that I fail to win, may nevermore be won.

I may not have another chance, on bended knees to pray and thank God with humble heart, for giving me this day.

Morning ladies,

No, my insurance didn't pay for it, [I don't have insurance and medical won't cover it because it's cosmetic surgery], but had to save up for it. Yes, I was a bit nervous before the the surgery, but they give you a seditive to relax you. I was extremely calm during the procedure and the surgeon talks you through it, step by step. He had 2 assistants to accompany him. It was so quick, but I could smell burning, which was from the laser and it didn't hurt at all. Just had some pressure, because they free your eye.

You are in good hands, as long as you pick a good surgeon. In British Columbia, you can do a check on a surgeon to see if he has been sued for malpractice.

I have to get ready for work, will chat later.

Take care,

Just wanted to say hit to you.
Tammy are you having eye surgery so you won't have to wear your glasses?
I checked into it once but my medical insurance would not pay for it either. If its cosmetic surgery they will not pay.
I even checked into it to have some loose skin removed around my stomach area but they would not pay for that either because its cosmetic.

So I guess I will just have to wear my glasses.

How are you doing today. not much with me today, just made the bed but thats all I have done today. Have no energy today to do anything.
Its clouding up to so it looks like we will get another one of our thunder stroms this afternoon. We get one most everyday when its so hot like it has been.
Think a new tropical depression is brewing up to off the coast of Africra where they all mostly come from in the first place. Hope they stay away from us because we are still cleaning up from Ivan and Katrina from two -three yrs, back.

Have a good day and I will be back later.

I can see God's work that he is doing in these 2 loved ones. They are really coming around. I am now able to mention God's name and they are responsive. Marvin, is still very weak and please do keep him in your prayers. He needs to get his blood pressure stable and needs energy to do some of things he likes to do... God Bless you my Friends...

Mary, sorry to hear that you don't have any energy. I will pray for you dear.

I'm doing fine and my eyes are healing slowly, but surely. Yes, I got the surgery done so that I wouldn't need glasses, but they said because of my age, they could only correct my farvision and would probably need reading glasses, which is fine with me. The majority of people in their later years need reading glasses anyways. After my eyes are ready and completely healed, I can ask my surgeon what my requirements are for enhancement, [if I need enhancement surgery], and then will get the small changes done for free of charge.

When I heard about lasik surgery, I applied for a free consultation and then was scheduled for an appointment. The day of surgery, I paid for the treatment before getting it done, [it was a promotional price with clearly lasik, in B.C. and at the time they were charging 499 per eye without tax, which came to about 1,108 dollars including an insurance], for getting the conventional surgery done, [which is using a blade method for lifting the cornea flap and then using laser to correct the vision. The PRK treatment is a similiar surgery, but has no blade is involvement, just laser mehtod. They were charging about 1,700 dollars per eye and it's a more popular method of treatment for correctional surgery, because it's safer and the healing process is shorter].

It all depends on the person and their age as to what surgery is needed for each individual's needs, plus how much you can afford. It is now more affordable then ever. I heard that clearly lasik has a clinic in seattle?? Like I said, some heal in a week's time, while others like me have a much longer healing process. All in all, I've researched the subject and am getting my questions answered by an eye expert on the internet. But, I'm also being monitored closely by my surgeon, who knows what he's talking about. God has his hands on me and I believe he will work it all out in the end. God is a God of miracles and healing.

God BLess, Tammy
