Diana, could you clarify this verse for me. The NIV replaces the word despise with contempt and forbearance for tolerance, I backed up abit and read the the verses starting from verse 1-4; then through to verse 10, but I still don't quite understand the meaning of this scripture verse. Thanks.

Basically talking about someone who thinks they are morally good and who think what they are doing is right, yet can't see what God has done in His goodness for them. Yet God will judge them.

But I realized that wasn't the scripture I wanted to use.

This is the one I should have used.

Colossians 3:12, 13

12Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Morning Diana, don't be sorry dear. This is an excellent verse of scripture which shows how Christ forgave us and wants us to follow his example of forgiveness, especially when someone is quarreling, arguing with you.

I've learned that by forgiving and blessing someone and treating them with kindness, is an act of humility. Giving the matter over to God, who then is free to deal with the individual's heart and change the siduation at hand. If we don't forgive someone, they won't be forgiven because we hold that sin against them and they are bound to that sin. Isn't it wonderful to know, that as christians, we can bind or loosen anything on earth.

Jesus said, " I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Matthew 18:18 NIV.

Tammy I think we should treat everyone we meet and talk to with kindness.
And if someone has wronged us that we should forgive them as God forgives us when we do wrong and repent of it.
I was taught by my parents, when I was only a child, to always be nice to people no matter how mean they are to you.
I don't think parents of today instill that in their children anymore because it seems children have become so violent now. They don't seem to know how to forgive others.
Its really sad to me.

Hurricane Ladies, we are getting ready for the Hurricane. The eye of the storm is supposed to be right over us. Please continue to pray that we will all be safe...

I am still doing low carb and love it. I am down 5 lbs. now, and have lost my appetite and feel wonderful...

I don't think we will get any of it here in Pensacola, Fla. Pensacola is right here near the Mobile,Alabama state line.
I hate that its coming your way Patty but am glad its not coming our way.
I have been praying fo everyone in New Orleans, i would hate to see the same thing happen as it did with Kitrina. I pray that God will protect the city and its people who live there.

I am so glad to be here. I am looking for new friends and a faith based group. I hope all is well woth everyone. I am having some problems at home and finical and there are times I feel like I can not feel God. I know he is there but I can not feel him. So I felt that why should I feel God when there are times I do not make time for God. So I am looking for a new chruch that will feed my spirt. I hope everyone is having a great weekend and lok forward to meeting all of you and making lasting firendships.

What you said made me want to cry. I know what you're talking about, I used to feel the same way too. I thought that God was a God who didn't care about me, or that I had to do something good for Him to hear me.

But through the years, I've learned such awesome truths in His word, and it has turned my life around and now I am set free from the bondage of the law and trying of works.

See I were brought up to believe that we had to "do" something to earn salvation or if we "did" something good so God would not look down on me in anger.
Even as after I became a Believer, I was led in the wrong way about how God really see's us.

But the plain truth is, all God asks us is to believe. . .not just "in" Him, but "on" Him and believe what He says about us.

If you read the first 3 chapters of the book of Romans, in there are the wonderful truths of what takes place once the person believes in the gospel of our salvation, which is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Romans is the book that talks all about what Christ did for us. It's our pattern for living.

Everything I mentioned is in that book.

And another thing, God loves you!!! He loves you so much, He made a way for you to become His child and that is through His Son. But it's not what we do, it's what He has done for us! All He asks us to believe. That's it! Faith plus nothing!

So don't ever doubt that God doesn't love you, He made you and had you in mind. Just believe!! For you to even inquire about Him, shows me that He is not far from you. Only by the Holy Spirit can anyone confess God, or feel the way you are feeling.

Remember He is near you!!

Patty, I saw on the BBC news tonight that people have been ordered to evaculate New Orleans.

Since you are staying put, I pray that God will keep you safe from the Hurricane. God is able to do above and beyond what we ask or fathom.

I believe this is from the Lord, [not me talking but the holy spirit], God wants you to know that he will be with you and will protect you with his angels, for they will overshadow you until the storm passes by. And you will be amazed from the results, [aftermath of the storm], because you will not be touched. Not a single part of you will be harmed, for you and your houshold will be safe. Praise God!!!

Sorry to hear that you're having problems financially and at home. God will undertake and help you get through these things, eventhough you don't feel him with you at this difficult time. I've been there dear, and I believe that God will intervene on your behalf.

We can't always go on feelings and emotions, 'cause feelings can be up and down. But God is God!!! and he is faithful and will help you manage your finances, get you back on track and find an apropriate church that has the right teachings of Jesus Christ. He wants you have to ask him first, 'cause he knows your siduation and will answer when you call upon him for help.

Where is everyone??? It's September 1st!!! This weekend is a long weekend for me, 'cause today is a Labour day Holiday in Canada. This week is a short four day week. Mom and I went to the beach yesterday after church, and enjoyed walking along the shore. We watched as some sail boats passed by us and also some people were watching too. It was a perfect day and I always love smelling sea breeze and when I come to the beach, it always lift my spirits. God's so good!!!

Patty, I'm praying for you and your DH's safety. That Hurricane will pass and not touch you, 'cause God told me that you would be safe!!! The weather channel said this morning that the Hurricane has dodged New Orlean city, but has touched land on louisiana coast and is stage 2, is weakening, but still has done some damage. I'm still believing God 'cause he is faithful and true to his word!!!

Morning Ladies, Happy Monday!!!

Well it's September and the kiddies are back to school this week, which will give parents a break from the summer months. Everyone is worried about the carbon tax and the price of oil going up, and more people will be taking transit which will make the buses fuller. Transit can't accomodate the people yet, but will be making improvements by putting more buses on new routes. God is with me and everything will work out transportation wize, 'cause I don't need to worry about anything. I may have to take an earlier bus, but I can deal with that.

Patty, hope things went well with you and your DH when that Hurrican passed.
