Praying for Weight Loss?

I want to pray for weight loss, but sometimes I think the Lord might not answer my prayer because I want to be thin for the "wrong" reason(s). I want to be able to do things that don't bog me down, but I also want to look good and feel attractive. I am tired of looking older than my age. I want to look nice and feel nice. Do you know what I mean? I know the Lord hears my prayers, but sometimes I think He might not answer because of the reasoning behind them.

Hi Tamara!

I used to do the same the thing, pray for weight loss. And after searching in scripture to see if this is something that the Lord will answer, I finally realized an came to the understanding after talking to others who study the bible the following:

When I would eat burgers, fries, candy and all the other junk I used to put in my mouth I will gain weight. If I'm going to eat that way, yet ask the Lord to answer my prayer, what will change? I need to move in faith and learn to eat right.

I believe He gave us the mind and common sense to know that if we eat junk, we're going to gain weight. If we eat good foods, then we will lose. You know what I mean?

So we use what God gave us, and if we use common sense to eat right, I believe He will be with us during the temptations and the hard times and make a way for us to avoid it, if we are open to Him. It's like scripture says, our spirit is willing, but our flesh is weak.

This is how I believe, and what I've come to understand during the time I've been eating lc. I know not everyone will agree with me, but as long as I'm at peace about how I believe, that's all that matters.

You can pray for God to show you the way to weight loss and to guide you and make you strong to avoid temptations. I believe you have to feel it in your heart cuz God knows what's in your heart.

And, if you fall, get up! God is here all the time, our Father, who wants us to succeed. Don't be so shamed that you feel you have to avoid Him after failing.

God loves beauty, so I don't think He will blame you for wanting to be as beautiful a representative of his creation as you can be.

I pray for God to help me to lose my weight to but I do it for my health and not to look sexy or anything.
I don't feel it is wrong.
