Newsflash, y'all! You are all correct here...
The Secret is...there is no Secret. Jesus was one who knew this - his teachings are at the base of it.
As ye think...so shall ye be. The Kingdom of Heaven lies within! So, without the desire & belief, you will not achieve. The desire sparks the work that now makes perfect sense, attracts the positives to make it all fall into place, raises the awareness of all the tools possible to get the result. This type of thinking is not without God. It is all about God, the Greatest Positive that exists, who is everywhere present. Thanks, Something Blue....for trying to point out a great, loving way to think. I love this book, and my loving it takes nothing away from loving Jesus! Kind of reinforces his message, really! |

Hmmm, Jerseygirl....I think that is what the Secrets says...think positively.
"Doing the work" = eating right, exercising, rejecting things not conducive to weight loss. "Doing the work" = attracting positives. BTW, God = the Universe. She is Everywhere Present, aka, The Universe. |

does anyone have this book in their files? It was being passed around a few years ago on the playground (people were e-mailing it left and right), but I was going through a divorce and couldn't focus on it at the time and would love to read it now....Thanks!

somethingblue2you, you might want to read a book like Jane Robert's "Seth Speaks", or if you're an intellectual, maybe "The Nature of Personal Reality" instead. This is stuff in the 1960s that is still the standard, and Jane was (sort-of) talking to the very physicists who wrote some of the landmark theoretical physics books of the 80s and 90s. It's a bit off the beaten track -- ignore the source if it bothers you (it did me at first, a zillion years ago) -- but it's kind of like "the fundamental underlying" the dynamic that many modern approaches/philosophies such as 'The Secret' embody.

Not to be funny, but I am NOT a supporter of Oprah and wouldn't DARE watch her show!!! She denounced Jesus Christ on NATIONAL TELEVISION. She also has her own "church" and is apart of the New Age movement. This is scary because she has A LOT of followers!!!! Check out you tube ![]() |

Is anyone interested....
I hear the people who have objections to "The Secret" and Oprah. We all have a right to our opinions. There a thread started by those who have benefitted from the movie or book. Is anyone interested in continuing that? They did a gratitude list and then typed at their affirmations. Controversy aside, anyone game????

I do not care for Oprah, I think she misleads alot of people.
But thats my opinion. She is into the New Age movement thing and she even denounced God on TV. She made up her own church to and is misleading alot of people in this world. I have seen a video of her doing it to and also heard her on national TV with my own ears. Here is that video of hers... Last edited by Pcola Girl : 07-25-2008 at 03:51 PM. |

I haven't read the book or seen the video, but I've looked at some websites and watched some youtube stuff. I think I'm going to work on a vision board this week, while the kids are at their dad's house. I just feel like I have so little focus, and I need to start really working toward some things instead of always thinking about what I wish could be, and all the reasons that they aren't.
Anyone else doing anything concrete related to The Secret/Law of Attraction? |

Hi hippiegirl! I write out positive statements on index cards and put them in my car or briefcase and pull them out to read them. In certain period of time, it may be 2-3x daily depending on my head. Sometimes I go weeks without looking at them, but i try to think about positive things i want in my life: kid relationships, prosperity in health & finance, more energy, etc.
I was taught to write these statements in a present tense format, so for example on about money says: "I have plenty of money coming into my bank account to save for my future as well as provide for my family's every need and desire." Sometimes I define the statement with a number: " I weigh 160 pounds and feel healthy happy and energetic." It is a challenge to not use negative words/phrases like "lose weight" or "my kid does not hate me"! My DD cuts out pictures of things, like a smiling healthy female (body size she would like to be), or a truck she wants to buy with a low price tag on it. I have made collages, but not for years. I would cut out pictures and words that called to me, all positive. Last edited by oobladee : 07-27-2008 at 09:28 AM. |

It is funny how we don't notice how negative our thoughts and words are until we're consciously noticing them.
I just came across some info last night about something called Demand Resistance, which I thought fit me to a "t" as far as procrastination, etc. The main thing they suggest you do to overcome this, is to change your internal dialogue from "I should", or "I need to" to "I want". Just in the small time I've been consciously looking for this pattern, I've caught myself doing it constantly! "I need to do laundry." No, "I want to do laundry so I have clean clothes." "I need to take a shower." No, "I want to take a shower so I'm clean and ready to face the world." Etc., etc. I just thought that dovetailed nicely with the positive statements - a paradigm shift on how I'm seeing the world.

I've seen The Secret a few times, listened to the audiobook Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting, and read Losier's book, The Law of Attraction. Each is excellent, In think, in it's own way.
It seems to me that the concept of attraction is the same as described in the Bible -- "Seek and ye shall find, ask and it shall be given unto you." Joel Osteen has also spoken with personal conviction about this concept. I personally believe the law of attraction is genuine, real. I've seen a few instances of it working. I need to practice it -- with clear intention, and enthusiasm, and faith in the outcome.

Ive seen it on DVD and also have it on audiobook on my ipod. I definitely believe that it works. I have a vision journal where I keep all my wants. Of course it has to be realistic and NO, things wont just fall on your lap. However, you will attract situations where you are given an opportunity toward working at xxxx goal/want/need or come in contact with people who will help you reach it. It's definitely not a "3 wishes" type of thing.

I rented "The Secret" book on CD from the library. I listened to it over and over again. I loved it.
One thing i remember on the CD are these sayings that i wrote down "Thoughts become things" "No such thing as a hopeless situation" " You are not your past" "I am the master of my thoughts" "what you think about will become your life experience" "Energy flows where attention goes" I kinda lost touch with it all but i am so glad i saw this thread. I havent seen the movie yet but i will soon. And i am going to re rent the CD book again if its available tommorrow.
