BREAKING THE BONDAGE FROM FOOD! For those who want to rely on God.

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied" (Matthew 5:6).

I have been on this weight loss journey (besides for the past 15 years) for the last 6 weeks. I have joined two other great forums with wonderful people. I will continue to participate in them both because I have set goals there and really enjoy their knowledge, support, and like to share as much about me and my faith as possible without being pushy. But something is missing in them for me. I have given this WOE and my whole diet and exercise program to God.

Many times I have tried to lose weight one way or the other: Weight Watchers, Atkins, starving myself, Macrobiotics, and even purging. All those times, I only relied on myself.

I found Christ 3 years ago and became a new creation! My walk in the light has since become a faster pace. I am seeking the Lord and His Truth with a vengeance. Along my journey, I found out about bondage and strongholds. I didn’t fully understand them until recently. Since then, I have fully established who I am in Christ. I am a child of God. That means I have authority over Satan and these bondages will leave upon my stating it.

Does it mean I won’t struggle? No. Satan knows my weaknesses and will try to tempt me with the things of my past that always “got me”.

So here I am, wanting to share my thoughts with others who BELIEVE and RELY on the Truth. I want to grow more with God and trust Him to see me through this and giving Him the glory and Praise for my pounds shed and bondages broken.

Whether you are a believer or just want to know more about the ONE TRUE GOD and His power to release you from sin and bondage, please join me in sharing your thoughts and praises. Here we can ask for special prayer requests and support each other with keeping God in the center.

Alive in Him,
Tiffani

So here is a little about me and my weight loss goals and accomplishments.

I started Atkins 6 weeks ago at 295 lbs. I was tired of getting rashes between my legs and other places and sweating like a race horse. Even when i had to bend to tie my shoe, I would start sweating. I went in my closet and got rid of almost all of the clothes that had elastic waist bands or were too big. I also got rid of most of the too small clothes. They were a sad reminder of the times I have failed.

I lost some what fast at first and now it has slowed down to a more healthy loss. I am now officially down to 255 today. Yep, that's right, a whopping 40 pounds gone from this shell. Thank you, Lord!

The first 4 weeks I was going to Curves 5-6 days a week. I lost 13 inches those 4 weeks. After my body got use to that workout, I decided to just go to Curves 3 times a week and do Yoga Fussion 2-3 times a week. I also now walk every day, thanks to my dad letting me borrow his treadmill. I learned how to shake things up on another thread from a very wise and informed lady. (Thank you, Miss Divine M!! She has lost over 65 pounds in the last 19 weeks.)

I keep a record of food, exercise, and weight losses (or gains) on FitDay.

I also try to drink at least 128 oz of water a day and take vitamins.

I pray without ceasing for strength to do this day after day. I also pray for God to help me get through my workouts. He is my coach. I put the weight loss in His hands. Asking Him to let me lose the fat as slow or fast as He sees fit for me. He knows me best!! I give Him all the glory.

I also renounce any past bad eating habits and food addictions. And bind up any deceptive spirits trying to make me believe I can't do it.

The "Losing it with Bugs" in my signature is a goal I have set with other ladies in another thread. We set certain amounts of weight that we want to lose by 11/10. My goal is 30 lbs. and others have more or less, what ever they see fit. We also decided to set a walking goal to achieve by 11/10. Mine is 30 miles, again, others set theirs higher or lower. But we support and encourage each other.

If any one would like to join those, feel free to set goals for yourself and post them. We can also set new goals for this thread.

Hi Tiffani!

Thanks for starting this. I took your advise and extended my devotion time from my shower and into my drive to work. I have a lot to be thankful for and God has seen me through a lot. It is funny that we trust and believe God for other things but not for our health and well-being. I heard a minister say once that we as Christians are great at praying for healing but we don't trust God to keep us healthy. When I started this weightloss journey my main goal was to be healthy but with anything else it takes hard work and dedication. All we have to do to succeed is to put God in charge of every area of our lives.

Hello. I am so glad yo guys found this sight. God had tld me to reach out myself with Him in the center. I finally had time and then waited...

Nkechi- wow...is this not inspired by God's desire to draw closer to Him and depend on Him? How funny that we found each other here too. I am still continuing with the other thread because we made a team their with eileen and I don't want to leave her in the dust. So I will see you there too!! Yes, that is so true. We do tend to not trust when it comes to health and healing. The funny thing is, He wants are complete faith to do it. Either way, His will be done, right? The only way I get through this is through the strength that He gives me when I call on His name. He is always faithful. How are you doing this week? Did you reach the 5 pounds? Water drinking better?

Hey Doitnow!! It's nice to meet you. Yes, we all need the accountability, I agree. It sure does help to join a team. So...we are the start of a new team. How exciting!! I wonder who else will join us.

Losing it with Bugs... In another thread, someone with the name "Bug" set a goal to lose XX pounds by Nov. 10. Next thing you know, several others of us decided to make the same goal date but with different amounts of poundage to lose by then. Next thing you know...we started talking about walking and setting goals for the same time (Nov. 10) with how ever many miles we wanted to walk.

With both goals, every one set their own amounts. Once a week, we post our stats and let everyone know how we did. It is very encouraging to be working on the same goals as others and hearing their accomplishments, struggles, and advice.

Would you guys like to join the same challenge? We can "Lose it with Bugs" right here. Saturdays are our weigh in days on the other thread and would work out great if we stayed with the same days. We usually post a recap on that day. But throughout the week, we keep each other posted on how we are doing, how or what we are doing WOE, exercising and water intake.

What do you say? Are you in?

Alright !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm excited about this. Saturday weigh in is fine with me. I'm trying to lose 4 pounds this weeks. As you can tell from the info. under my avatar I've not committed to any particular program. I've been praying and doing a modified low carb woe. So far in two months I've lost 13 pounds.

Okay, Tiffani I'm going to take some tips from your post and increase my water intake and exercise. I'd like to say that I will exercise daily, but I'm going to start with every other day.

Do you have anymore tips that will be helpful? Thank God for leading me here .

Last week I lost 6 pounds!! (according to losing it with bugs weigh in) It was also TOM in the beginning of the week, so I had a little struggle. First time I cheated. And I cheated for 2 days. Not bad, but I was up 2 pounds on the scale. Well, that was Sunday and Monday. Tuesday I worked my behind off at Curves and also walked in the evening. The rest of the week I worked out hard too. I re-inducted and lost 6 pounds + the 2 I gained by Saturday morning. I thought...wow...I am going to cheat next week too. So Saturday, I had some popcorn and PLAIN homemade apple pancakes. That was all I cheated with, but it put me up 1 1/2 pounds. So here we go again. I am working my behind off at Curves and walking and pilates and stretching. Dropping my carbs back to under 15 and drinking major water. I am curious to see if it works again.

Someone from another thread...Miss Divine M...(thank you, girl) taught me about "shaking it up". She said to keep the body guessing. If it knows what we are going to do as far as eating and exercising, it will adjust to that way. So if we change things around here and there, but not excessively, it throws it off and you will have the potential to drop some pounds. Tricking your body!!

Well, it worked last week, but it was also end of TOM so, we'll see about this week...

OH, my goal for "Losing it with Bugs" is to lose 30 pounds by Nov. 10 and walk 60 miles. So far I am down 13 pounds. So almost half way there. We started on August 20. One person has a goal to lose 60, someone else 25, another 2 pounds a week. So any way you want to do it, is fine. We just set a goal and help each other achieve it.

I have a goal to be down to 210 by Christmas too. So I will work on that after Nov. 10. When I lose my 30 pounds with Bugs, it will put me at 238. So I will have 28 pounds to lose after that. I need to lose a total of about 3 pounds, give or take, a week until Christmas to be there. That will put me at a total of 85 pounds since started. So exciting....

Now I must tell you, I pray hard everyday, and throughout the day. I had to break the stronghold of food before I could fully commit to this. I prayed and asked God to forgive me for not trusting Him and for gluttony. I told all the deceivers around me to leave me alone in Jesus name. Gave Him the glory and didn't look back. I am staring at the cross and moving forward. The evil doers still try to tempt me, of course, but since I am a child of God, they have to listen to me. " Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name" (Luke 10:17). I have complete and total authority over them. NO IF ANDS OR BUTS about it. That is how it is working for me.

Oh I am sure since I am trying to spread God's love and power of Jesus, the little imps of Satan are going to bring out the big guns, but I stand firm "having girded my loins with truth" (Ephesians 6:14)

Doitnow- Awesome...down 13 pounds is great. Keep going. Are you like doing Atkins, Kimkins, or just your own modification? What are your stats? What is your carb level and where have they been?

I am doing Atkins. But I have really stayed in the induction phase the whole time. Personally, I have to omit the SF jello and cream cheese and other sweet things because I was severly addicted to sugar and junk food beofre starting this. I do drink a diet soda when I am really really craving something sweet. And that is usually in the evening when I use to munch and relax.

Any time I have the urge to eat, but am not really hungry, I chug some water. And I mean chug. It fills me up. Sometimes our bodies are actually dehydrating and wouldlike some water, but we get the signals mixed up and think we need to eat. We eat and the body isn't satisfied because that is not what it likes, so we eat some more. Water really helps in the battle for weight loss. Plus it fluches the fat and toxins out. I try to drink at least 128 oz. a day. Some times more.

Here are some links to a few sites that can help as far as good tips and recipes.

I'm doing okay but TOM is with me so I am still a little bloated. I weighed this morning but I want to weigh post my official results tomorrow but I know I didn't make the goal but I will make it next week. I am doing better on water but I still have a way to go. I know I have to do better and I think I am on the right track.

Tiffani, I am doing my own modified low carb way of eating. I have not posted my stats because I dislike seeing that number in print, so I only deal with the amount of pounds lost to keep myself encouraged. I'm 5'8" tall and my goal weight is 130-140.

I'm going through hormonal changes, have a goiter, and take bp medication and hormones. It's my prayer that with a healthier lifestyle, which is my main goal, and weight loss I will be able to correct these health issues. Somethings are hereditary, but God is able.

Last night I exercised (recumbent bicycle) 50 minutes for 12 miles! I felt great!

Hello Nkechi! How is your day going? I just finished eating lunch (grilled chicken with chili beans), and now I'm getting ready for a meeting.

I still haven't drank much water today. I really need to increase my intake...guess I'll take a container with me to begin drinking after the meeting.

I'll check in later .

Hello everyone! Today is a good day but breakfast was not too good...

B: Beef/Cheese Sticks and Dried Fruit Trail Mix with a Diet Pepsi (All out of a vending machine)

L: Grilled Bacon Chicken Salad from McDonalds with LC Ranch Dressing and Tea sweetened with Splenda

D: ???

Breakfast was a result of not planning and running late for work and was as low carb as I could get from the vending machine. I was disappointed that they didn't have pork rinds which is my usual last minute staple. At least the Trail Mix was all natural with sunflower, peanuts (which I don't eat), and dried fruit (not exactly LC but still healthy).

I have Tae Bo this afternoon so I am pumped about that. Take care ladies and God Bless!

Good morning Tiffani & Nkechi! How are you doing? I've drank about 9 ounces of water so far...I've got to put forth a greater effort to meet my daily water requirement .

I woke up late today so I did not eat breakfast. So for "brunch" I ate a large salad with mixed green lettuce, shrimp, cheese, croutons, eggs, and a small amount of dressing. I use the Walden sugar free dressing. I am determined to eat more vegetables today.

Tiffani, I stepped on the scale this morning and I'm already seeing the results from exercising. I'm looking forward to reporting my loss on Saturday.

I thank God for having y'all as my accountability partners.

Doitnow! Hip, Hip...Hooray! You are on your way girl!! Congratulations. yes, the water is more important than we know. Our bodies will hold onto it if we do not intake enough and we know what that means...RETENTION!! yucky.

I drank about 160 oz yesterday and i lost 2 pounds!! Very encouraging!! Today I went to Curves and worked out for about an hour. I will not be walking on the treadmill today. We play basketball after church and it is intense. I will definately get a work out then.

Yes, God is good and He gives us what we need, doesn't He? I am thankful too. We can do this with Him as our driver!!

Nkechi- hope you have a great day and was able to eat b-fast at home today instead of the vending machine. How much water did you drink yesterday? ----holding you accountable girl!!

I just guzzled down a large glass of water when I read your post .

I usually drink Spring or Distilled water. Does it matter what type of water? I read something about Spring Water and sodium. Since the tap water in my city has a horrible odor I try not to drink it.

hi Tiffini...... I would love to join in..... I do believe if we ask anything in Jesus Name it shall be done.... I believe just like anything else in our lives, if we ask, God will answer.... I once did a thing on line called the Lord Supper, don't know if anyone here has ever heard of it.... but its a step program where you study God's word and answer question and fast and pray....... it was very good for me....

Its always so wonderful to find other believer that are also on this journey.... what a suppport system we can be not only on here, but in our prayers.....

As for me, I have stuggled with my weight most of my life...... I started gaining after being abused when I was alittle girl.... since then it has been a battle...... I have read many books... have had prayer for gluttony.... at that time my pastor said that gluttony was not my problem... I never understood that until I started Atkins....... I found out that Carbs react like a allergy does to me.... I can put on 10 to 15 lbs in one night just by eating carbs.... and when I stop eating them it comes off just as fast sometimes......

We should always everyday turn this over to God and ask him for his help.... with God all things are posible...... stay strong everyone..... yes the Devil will try to attack you and your body in many ways.....but we know that we have power thur Jesus Christ Our Lord and savior......

will chek back later
