I was thinking....

Okay, so I have been thinking. I really want to do something positive. I want to get some type of support group together. I want to help people who are like me and think that there is nothing they can do to change. Does anyone know what I could do to get this started. I think it will be a while down the road once I feel a little more confident, but I really want to help people. I'm talking about in my city, not online.

I also was thinking of writing a book. I'm keeping daily details about my journey. Would I just write it, and submit it to a publisher? I know these are big dreams, but you have to start somewhere, right?

Any help is appreciated.

Dunno about forming a group, but if you are thinking about writing a book, you will want to check out the Writer's Market (it's a book) and find appropriate publishers and maybe go ahead and approach them with the proposal once you have a few sample chapters. For the type of thing you are talking about, I'm not sure you want to wait until you are done to submit it. Also, many publishers want you to work through an agent, so that is something to consider as well.

I say keep your dream alive and go for it..............
Write that book, form that group you want, don't let a dream die.
Go for it with all the strength you have in yourself.............

Yes, by all means, do those positive things! You're already taking good steps on the book idea. (And besides, your notes will help in the future even if they never become a book. You will review them if you want to lose weight again, or you will lend them to someone else who wants to.) I don't think you need to think about a publisher yet. And when that time comes, there are many options: traditional publishers, self publishing, e-books.

And starting a support group is also a great idea! You might want to line up a spot to meet, write a description of the group you're forming, and post it at a local online forum (craigslist?) or on bulletin boards (at schools, laudromats, grocery stores, bookstores, coffee houses, etc.)

Your positive intentions and efforts can make the world a better place! Best wishes!

Hey ladies! Just wanted to say thank you for the encouragement. *hopefully you all will buy my book someday, and be like YAY SHE DID IT!*

I've kind of started the rough draft for the first chapter. It's pretty easy because it is going to be a raw emotion type of letter that I wrote myself. I know many other people my age (or any age for that matter) will be able to relate to it, and then from there it will talk about my long journey with this WOE...really, I don't know what all it will have in it, because I'm still walking on this path....having a hard time with a title, though. I start a creative writing class at college in September and I am really excited!

Blues, I never thought of Craigslist...that is an EXCELLENT idea. Thanks!
