Ever cry out to God and wonder if He's listening?

I did last night. I cried and cried and felt like God was silent. I don't come to this board often, but in an effort to look for some comfort I came here. I read some posts, posted replies and felt much better. In the process though, God put someone here on my heart to pray for. I lifted you up then and in my prayers this morning and as God brings you to mind I will continue to pray. As I was walking into work praying for you, it dawned on me that God used my own sorrow and pain to do HIS work. If I had not felt that pain and God took it right away when I asked, I would not have come here and be praying for YOU today. Is it YOU I'm praying for? Hmmmmm, you just won't know, will you But I can tell you one thing my friend, God cares that much about YOU that much that He put YOU on my heart to pray for.

My friend I have been a born again Christian for over 30 years. I have been where you are. Often when I feel burdened I do not know for who the burden is for.

But remember God isn't silent. It is our perception that he is silent. He always listens. I have felt this before too. Sometimes however when we feel this way it helps to have other's praying to on our behalf. Sometimes our emotions are so involved that receiving the peace we need is hindered by our feelings. Best thing to do is rest in faith. Faith believing that he did hear your prayer regardless of how you feel. Do not go by feelings but go by faith.

Sister's in Christ.

Oh yes, I have cried out. Almost everyday. It can feel like God is far away and I might be unworthy, and like Skeeter mentioned, these feelings do not originate with the Father, but are brought on by our own weaknesses as humans. I do pray on behalf of other people also and I do believe that God works in wonderful ways. We can rest assured, God hears all prayers and although we might not always understand his answer (or even lack of one, if appropriate), he invites us to talk to him.

The scriptures call Jehovah God ' The "Hearer of prayer" ', meaning that he gives personal attention to our concerns and anxieties. (Psalm 65:2) (Psalm 83:18; Revelation 4:11)

In his famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said: "Your Father knows what things you are needing before ever you ask him." Yet, Jesus also said: "Keep on asking, and it will be given you." (Matthew 6:8; 7:7)

Linda, I will keep you in my prayers and ask Jehovah to comfort you today.

Strange that I happened upon your post today. I've been feeling that way on and off for over a year now. We've had problems with family, death, sickness etc...

I do know that things do happen for a reason and this isn't put on us as a test, I know he is listening, sometimes it just doesn't register...

Thanks for posting this today it hit me in more way than one.

I feel this way sometimes too. But I know he's listening and after a good cry I always feel like he has his arms around me, telling me everything is going to be ok. That he's taken my burdens into his own hands and he's handling it. I just have to be patient and faithful.

Thanks for praying for whomever you prayed for, I pray for you all today too.

God Bless you all.

Great post..I truly believe that God hears our prayers..but we do listen for
God to speak or is it a one-way conversation? This is from my personal experience..

What a beautiful post.

I never thought about praying for someone when they keep popping in my head but I will try to start doing that. A short sweet prayer for a friend, stranger, or family member.

Thanks again for the reminder.

What a beautiful post, DENMW. I have experienced this burden for other people before. Even people I don't know personally. This was a great reminder and puts some things in perspective in my life right now. Thanks.

Hi, I'm new to this board... and have been a born again christian most of my life. Yes... I've had times when it seems that God isn't listening... and it was during times of loneliness and uncertainty. There is no doubt in my mind... that he is listening to us and making intercession to the Father on our behalf. His timing is perfect... and sometimes we get impatient with him when he doesn't answer us right away.

Sometimes our prayers aren't answered because... we may ask for things amiss... or we need to deal with a sin in our life that is interfering with Gods plans...

I know about these things because of the struggles and trials I've experienced in my own life... Hope this helps??? God really does love each and every one of us...

God BLess...

Actually... our family is going through a trial with my nephew right now... who's 21 and is very depressed... and at times suicidal. We have been praying for him and have had some divine breakthroughs with answered prayer. He is getting counseling and has recently experienced the power of God in his life. All your prayers are needed... and much appreciated. I believe God is in the business of answering prayer.

God bless you,
