One way to get rid of the "blues"

I came here tonight after just being really sad about some things and came with tears in my eyes looking for suuport. I read a few posts and sent a few encouraging replies and you know, I'm not sad anymore.

If you're feeling down in the dumps, take a few minutes to encourage someone else. It not only takes the focus off yourself, you may actually listen to the encouragement and support you are giving someone else.

That's very sweet and very true. I hope you're feeling better.

Seems like I'm a slow learner and I'd better keep reading my own post over and over again. I get so "Me" focused

Yesterday I was out of control with my eating and decided to go to an Overeaters Anyonymous meeting for support. I have not been for a couple of years but I recognized several of the people. Of course, being focused on "Me", I sat in judgement and thought "she gained a lot of weight since I saw her last" and "he doesn't look like he's doing too well" and oh "I never met her but she couldn't help me, she's out of control herself". I'm ashamed to write these things but I truly thought that way. But today I'm out of myself and God again used this to show me that "it's not always about ME". I called one of the ladies from the group who was successful hoping to get some support this morning and she was not home. Then I looked at the list and thought, hmmmm there's not really anyone else I'd call for support. THEN, God spoke to me and said "why don't you call this person on the list, maybe you could give HER some support"

So, sometime today I will definitely call her and you know what, I bet I'll be encouraged by the call.

Is there someone you can encourage today?

Words to live by.

When I start feeling like my life has no purpose or meaning, I try to think how I can use my time on earth to enhance someone else's journey.
