religious fasting

Does anyone have any scriptures or great online websites that discuss the topic of fasting for religion purposes (not for weightloss)?

It's been over 10 years since I fasted.

But I feel that my family and I are right on the brink of a financial breakthrough (one that we have been waiting on for over 3 years

) and that I need to fast in order for it to come to past.

I just wanted to say I totally believe in fasting, in fact, I fast for religious reasons once a month and am finishing my fast for this month today. I have had miracles happen in my life that I know were a direct result of fasting.

Isaiah 58 is a good chapter on what the Lord considers a true fast.
