Slightly OT... Is Lance Armstrong an atheist?
I have always found Lance Armstrong... the way he overcame adversity with a "no-quit" attitude and they way he went on to win numerous biking awards to be very inspirational. I even had some of his quotes on my desktop and read them from time to time.
Well..... I don't know if a friend of mine is pulling my chain or not but he told me that Lance Armstrong was an atheist. That's certainly news to me and I hope that's not the case. Has anyone here ever heard that? It sounds so far fetched to me. Thank You David |

Why would his being an atheist make his quotes or how he overcame adverity anyless inspirational? I believe in God however if a quote or someones journey through life makes me pause for a moment to reflect than as far as I am concerned that is a good thing.

I believe his is an atheist, but I fail to see why that's so far fetched.

Hi... For myself, someone who is going through a very tough time right now with not only battling weight and SAD type issues as well as feeling very "lost" and confused spiritually.... I would prefer to follow examples of people who are believers whom perhaps I could follow their lead rather than someone who is a non-believing atheist.
Now.... I myself am agnostic. Some might say that's almost like being an atheist however I do lean towards the concept of a God and I am trying with all my heart to find him/her and what they are all about. I do respect everyone and their beliefs, however I would just feel better if I were inspired by a person who has some type of spiritual foundation rather than an atheist whom.... in my personal experience on some of the other message boards can come accross rather rude and insensitive. Again... Right now I would just prefer following the path of a believer. As to why I found that Lance Armstrong perhaps is a atheist being far fetched... is that the person who told me is always busting my chops about this and that and I had never heard anything about that before. Still.... I don't even know if he IS an atheist or not, so this could all be about nothing...lol Thanks... for your replies. DAVID |

Well, if you google it, you'll see that it's pretty well known that he's an atheist. He relied on himself and science. Sorry if that disappoints you - he's still a great guy.
