MIL is dying :(

My MIL is in the final stages of dying. She has diabetes, congestive heart failure and liver disease. Her lungs have filled with fluid and they've stopped all care except comfort care. We live in AZ but she and the rest of the family are in Chicago. My husband went back a couple days ago and now we're trying to get out there but since it's right before Christmas, flights are jam packed.

My sisters in Christ, could you please pray for a peaceful passing for her and peace for the family. She has been sick a long time and we all knew it was coming but now that it's here - well, it's just so painful. She is a Catholic and believes in Christ but, she is so afraid of dying. Mercifully, she is on so much pain medication that she is sleeping most of the time so she's not as fearful and anxious as she was a few days ago.

And, I hope this doesn't offend anyone but I'm going to step on my soap box for a moment. If you smoke, please quit. My MIL has been dying a slow, miserable death for the last couple years. She smoked for 50 years and she and the family are paying the price now. Lung cancer is not the only side effect to smoking. It kills ALL your organs. It damages your heart, your liver - everything. The diseases you get from smoking are brutal. Please, please, if you smoke, please quit. If not for yourself, do it for your loved ones. It's excruciating to watch someone die this way.
