Father, I pray you cover Angelia with your Peace as she faces this surgery. Please guide her doctors' hands with your wisdom and knowledge. Please ease her worrying and protect her from harm. In Jesus' name I pray this.
God's Peace!! He's in control. |

I just had it done in September, 5 bypasses in total. I was very scared also, afraid of the pain, inability to take care of myself for a time afterwards, of having to depend on others until I recuperated.
It was a breeze for me. Very little pain (except when you cough, but they'll show you how to minimize that) and I had no problems taking care of myself. I was easily tired out at first, but I got stronger everyday. You'll be fine in a couple weeks. I'm back to work now, with some restrictions that will be removed after Jan.1st. But that is because of the nature of my job. I can't lift anything heavier than 25#, and I'm restricted to no more than an 8 hour work day. They won't let you drive for a while (4 weeks in my case). That is because of the surgery. They don't want you to get into an accident, they don't want you being hit in the chest with a deploying air bag. You can imagine that would cause a lot of pain and other problems. I spent a week in the hospital, but that was longer than usual. I was up and walking the next day after they pulled the drain tubes out. Yes, I felt weak and used a walker at first. Didn't got far, just around the ICU was all. But it felt good to be unhooked from the monitors and to get out of bed. I'm not going to tell you 'don't worry, they do this every day'. Yep, they do. But YOU don't do this every day. And that was the point I made to them also. Having my chest split open like a dead deer isn't something I normally have done, ya know? Like I said, I had very little pain. I didn't even use all of my vicondin that they sent home with me. I have 2 little cuts in my leg about 2" long where they removed veins for grafting, and those caused me no pain at all. I'm a wuss when it comes to pain, and I'd tell you the truth if I had any. Good luck. Everything will be fine, I promise. |
