i plan 2write a book in the future about my personal food issues & how to help others
But i need as much input as possible. I know you may think it is far-fetched but i really want to publish something that shows the struggles i currently go through, and hopefully, in a year or two, how i overcame them. I really want as much input from others to put into it to help show other peoples' struggles, how they overcame their problems etc.
so feel free to share anything you think would be helpful. some examples of what to write about would be: 1. what made you finally realize you had a problem and wanted to lose weight, become healthy, and all around, just fix your life? 2. do/did you have an eating disorder? if so, what do/did you have? do you still currently have this eating disorder? how does it make you feel? if you don't have it anymore, how did you beat it? 3. do you have bad self image problems? 4. do you ever get extremely depressed? 5. in grade/high school...did you ever get made fun of? did that stick with you forever and lower your self esteem? those are just some suggestions. i'd really appreciate all the help i can get. thank you all very much. |

I think that is a good idea and an ambitious goal, however my suggestion to you is to work through your own issues and get yourself healthy first. You will have a much easier time writing and your writing will be more believable and helpful to others if it comes mainly from your own experience. You can always add things that you have learned from others, but you should always start by writing what you know.
Good luck! |

I agree with Daisy.
If you do have an eating disorder (binging, using food for comfort, whatever), I would strongly suggest seeing a professional to help you work through those issues. It is very difficult to do it on your own. Also, I would wait to write a book until you have maintained whatever goals you have for several years. Its so easy to think your "cured" and feel and look like you are doing great.... but then later to slip back into an eating disorder, if some of the issues weren't really dealt with. A huge number of people with eating disorders fluctuate over the years, getting better, worse, better, worse..... until they really deal with it. Last edited by Strawberry : 11-04-2006 at 05:30 AM. |
