I am at work sitting at my desk and one of the doctors i work for walks buy squeezed my stomach and say "is that a spare tire"? Remind you all I just had a baby on 9/15/06 and yes he knows this. Other than that he is pretty cool he is in his 80's so I just let it slide. But what if I was someone that had low-self esteem and was suicidal or something. That would've been more fuel to my fire. I can't believe he did that....why do people think they have the right to say those things to others......oh well just thought I'd vent...........how dare he..........

It's definitely a strange situation.
I mean, he's 80 but still... I know at my workplace if someone did that there'd be a sexual harrassment complaint file immediately.

That's really rude and since you work FOR him, it's totally inappropriate. Has he always acted like this or first time? Maybe he's getting weird in the head and needs to be done working with the public and employees.

I would probably say something to whoever else is a boss there to let them know he's touching the employees, before they ARE sued.

yeah it is pretty rude.....but I won't say anything. not that i am afraid or ashamed just that I dont think he meant it in an inappropriate way. if i felt violated in anyway i definetly would.......but i'll let him slide only cuz i believe he was just being friendly i know it sounds wierd but if it happens again i will say something

He should not be touching you, I don't care if he's 180 years old. And as for his remarks, not good either. Has he ever heard of the term, "hostile workplace environment?" If not, he should be familarized with them, soon. Sounds to me like trouble is brewing here.

You know, my grandparents raised me and my grandmother was constantly riding me about my weight. She tried, in her own way, the only way she knew how. And yes, it was quite a burden as a child. They were depression era sharecroppers and they weren't raised with political correctness of our age, but more their age -- which allowed for this indirect or direct teasing to keep others or get others 'in line'.

My grandfather is 82 now and he'd never be mean intentionally. If I teared up over something he said by him teasing me about my weight, it'd crush him. I never EVER get obviously upset with him over it, because I know how he means it -- kindly and gently, and with love. Now, my grandmother, I'd verbally spar with and the last thing I said to her that got her to knock it off a few years ago was "don't be rude." and then ignoring it. She never mentioned it again -- being southern born and bred, the word "rude" is quite loaded.

You have to judge the situation and the person. If you think he wasn't in the wrong enough for counteraction, then you're the only person that can judge the situation and I'd trust your decision... though you might snip back a little if he says it again -- Snip back in the same tone, the same mannerism -- in _his_ language. Let's face it -- as much as we all want to be politically correct, we still have to "get along".

Shevetriz, I just saw the post about me starting my big day (little late huh?). I actually started 11/3/06, the 13th was a typo. I was going to try not to weigh but I couldn't help it...I'm down 5 lbs and 2 inches in my waist already!!!!!!!!!

At 80 he knows better but might figure he has nothing to loose. You don't deserve this under any circumstances. Tell him not to touch you like that again. Tell your supervisor.
