Which of your favorite bible verses give you inspiration and hope?
Here's one of my favorite...
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 and another... "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." 1 John 4:10 I like this one too.... "Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Psalms 30:4-5 Ok, just one more...... "Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me." Micah 7:7-8 This is interesting... "Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name." Rev. 3: 11 & 12 I can't help myself!! Just one more.... "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." 1 Timothy 2:5 & 6 I can't believe someone loved me enough to pay a ransom for me, with their own life. ![]() Last edited by LauraFL : 08-11-2006 at 07:48 AM. |

Here is mine:
"He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God in whom I trust. For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from deadly diseases. He will cover (defend, protect) you with his feathers, under his wings you will be safe. His truth will be your salvation (shield and buckler; savior). You will not be afraid of the terror by night or the arrows that fly in the daytime. Or of the disease that take men in the darkness or of the destruction that makes waste (swells up) when the sun is high. You will not be harmed although thousands are falling around you. And with your own eyes you will see the punishment of the wicked. The Lord, the Most High is your fortress (your place of protection). Run to Him for safety and no terrible disasters will strike you or your home. God will command His angels to protect you whereever you go. They will carry you in their arms and you won't hurt your feet on the stones. You will overpower the strongest lions and the most deadly snakes. The Lord says, 'If you love Me and truly know who I am, I will rescue you and keep you safe. When you are in trouble, call out to Me. I will answer and be there to protect and honor you. You will live a long life and see My saving power'." Psalm 91

Shay,
That Psalm gives me chills and chokes me up when i read it! It is one of the best for showing us how much of a protective, loving father God is and more importantly, wants to be to us if we will only let Him. Thanks for sharing! |

Anne,
Sometimes being still and trusting God is the hardest part of having faith. It is sometimes easier for us to trust ourselves more than God since we think we have more control over ourselves. It is really a control issue, and for many of us it's hard to give up. Faith is not always easy! Quote:

"The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer." Psalm 7 - 14 I wish i had time this morning to post more but i don't. God bless you dear saints and may you feel the presence of the Lord with you today! |

The following verse gives me comfort because it helps me remember we will NOT always have to live in this messed up world of political correctness. That is - where evil is called good and good is called evil!
"He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, Both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord." Proverbs 17:15 |

I think my favorite of all time is Mark 9:24 (and the surrounding story,) where a man brings his son to Jesus and explains that the boy's posessed by a demon and asks Jesus to help if He can, and Jesus says, "If? Anything is possible if you believe." And the man says (24,) "I do believe, Lord, but help me not to doubt." And Jesus immediately cures his son. I love that the man very honestly shows the struggle that so many of us have, that he believes but still has doubts - he doesn't lie about it or try to hide it, he very openly admits to his Lord that he has doubts. And I love that Jesus understands that and doesn't condemn him for that - He could have said, "well, since you don't believe enough, it ain't gonna happen, better work on your faith..." but He didn't; He heals his son. Because He knows. He cares. He loves us, even when we struggle with doubts. He understands.

This is part of what Paul wrote from prison to Timothy. (Italics mine.) It's from 2 Timothy 1: 7 - 10:
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel." |

Correction: Post #8 was listed as being Psalm 7 - 14, but that's incorrect. Those are actually the verse numbers for Psalm 19. It should've read: Psalm 19:7 - 14. Sorry if it caused any confusion.

We were asked a similar question in our Sunday school class. This one gives me hope and comfort.
Psalms 18 1 I love you, O LORD, my strength. 2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. |

This doesn't exactly make me feel inspired or hopeful. It just makes me think that we need to strike a proper balance in our lives. To be wealthy can actually be a curse if it makes us forget about God.
"Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain." One favorite among many.
Ephesians 1:16-19 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who believe." The heart of my prayer for family members and friends. ![]()

Heather, that is so beautiful. This part especially I always pray for my children.
"I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better." There is NO greater gift we can give our children than to know Jesus Christ and our Father God. By the way, I didn't mean to discourage discussion of bible verses, just that they should be more prominant. What is subscribing to a thread? I've seen it when I add something to my profile but don't know what it is. Do you get an email alert or something when posts are added to a thread? I'm in the middle of baking right now but will be back with some fresh scripture for the day. I also need to ask for prayer for a difficult situation that my dear son is going through, which I'll explain a little later. God Bless you saints and may you feel the presence of the Lord with you today! |

Philippians 4:6 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God".
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Rev. 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me". Rev.21:4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose" ~Lisa~ |

LCC, when you post to a thread, it shows up on your subscribed threads list on your user panel. This helps you keep track of your conversations.
If you no longer want to watch a certain thread, you just unsubscribe from your user panel. It's a lot easier than scrolling through all the posts in a forum, when you want to know if there has been any new activity in an area. I *think* there is a way to keep an eye on things with e-mail alert, but I have not explored all the options yet. If you find out, could you let me know? Thanks! |

Galatians 5:16-18 "So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law."
True freedom from outwardly enforced regulations, because God will direct my heart to do what is right. Actually, this is the verse that prompted me to do something about my eating habits. I finally recognized my sugar "addiction" as the idol worship it really is. And it broke my heart. ![]() (Your going to be sorry you invited me to this thread! )James 1:19-20 "My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the tighteous life that God desires." James 3: 17-18 But the wisdom that comes down from heaven is first of all pure; then peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness." Matt. 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. The story of my life. The "natural" me has a quick temper, and often is more concerned with being "right" (as in winning an argument) than it is with the heart of Jesus. Jesus did not compromise truth, but He still loved those who opposed Him. One more: Matt. 5:43-48 You have heard that it was said 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. I couldn't say it any better than Jesus did. ![]() Last edited by Luvmykidz : 08-18-2006 at 09:10 AM. |
