Does anyone practice the "Law of Attraction" or believe in manifestation?

If so , have you been sucessful? I am interested in developing this! Anyone else? I think this could really help me self realize!

It's a topic I've recently become interested in. I bought Jerry and Esther Hicks new book, Ask and It is Given, but I haven't had time to crack it open yet! I read a lot of books by Louise Hay, Doreen Virtue and other HayHouse authors. I'm big into angels, too! I basically love metaphysics.
I would like to manifest a new career. You can manifest love by clearing your mind of negative thoughts, thinking loving thoughts and putting out love, love, love. Treat everyone in a loving way, and the love will come back to you tenfold.
As to the law of attraction, I noticed just today a post on the playground that began, our worst fears came true. What ever you think gets drawn into your life, you know? But is hard in our fear-based culture to train the mind to get away from negativity. I work on it by listening to Louise Hays positive affirmation cd's. That's one way of staying on track.

I think that it is very true that we manifest our fears.I also think that is true for the world. What is confusing is that often people "want" that which is the negative and that is why some things are the way they are, though many do not recognize that. It is a very interesting concept.I used to be very invested in Angels and , as it didn't seem to "work" for me, I gave it up. Maybe I just didn't have enough of a belief. I am still finding piles of letters to "My highest angel"and the angels of others around my house!

Oh, wow, my angels are working for me, and they can for you, too. A tip I learned from a DV practitioner is to ask your guardian angels to talk to someone else's angels to get a problem resolved. It has worked for me and friends every time. Case in point: my daughter had a serious misunderstanding at work with her boss and DD ended up quite upset and thinking she might have to quit the job. It was not good, because dd is pregnant, needs the job, did not need to be upset in her condition or have the boss lady on her case. Angels were invoked, and in one day, the situation was difused, healed, whatever you want to call it, it was miraculous. All we did was ask DD guardian angels to talk to boss lady's angels and work it all out. I have never written a letter to my angels, since it's easier to just think my needs or speak them out loud. Don't know if this matters. Here is a cool angel site: shininglite.com. Check it out!

Yes I do practice this. I have found that I don't get as upset as I use to no matter what the situaton is . If I find that I'm going over the deep end I just reel myself back within seconds and just start thinking about all the great things that I have to be thankful for. I have found that it has help me on a personal level as well as business.

I created a life for myself during my late 20's to early 30's simply by applying the secret principles and not even knowing at the time that is what I was doing and I have done that several times since too.... I do believe beyond 100% that we can create our own world. My problem is that every time I create it that world has feel apart, so that is where my confusion comes in along with my faith. When do we create? Or are we supposed to wait and let God create in answer to our prayers? I am still very confused about this!!! My life has been in "recovery mode" for the past 4 years due to one of "dreams" coming true and then realizing that what I had created was a nightmare!!! I had some issues & I could not handle it correctly and the person who came along as part of the dream seemed to be very deceptive & to this day I do not know who this person was & I was married to him???
I am a chrisitan and for the first time since my divorce I have started dreaming some really good dreams again.... But I do not want to do anything outside of His will, how do I know if I am dreaming up another nightmare or not? I do not want to live in fear but I do not want to make anymore serious mistakes again either What do I do????
Sorry to hog the post

The Secret - Rhonda Byrne
The Law of Attraction - Esther and Jerry Hicks

Definitely check out the websites. You'll find them by googling.

I haven't read "The Secret" yet but will get the DVD.

There is a similar book from Deepak Chopra called
"Seven Laws of Spritual Success" I recommend it.

I can't wait to watch The Secret.

I'm definitely a believer. I practice the Law of Attraction -- imperfectly, but I'm getting better.

Seeing an Oprah show 6-8 months ago on The Secret was my first clear step on this path. I ran out and bought the DVD and have watched it about 5 times.

Since that Oprah/Secret day, I've read The Law of Attraction by the Hickses, read The Law of Attraction by Michael Losier (which I recommend most highly as the clearest, best book on the topic), and watched 3 times the video, Making Your Dreams Come True by Jack Canfield (co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books). I've read other metaphysics books too, like The Magic of Believing (half way through) and a couple of Joe Vignale's books: The Attractor Factor and Life's Instruction Manual. (The library supplied most of these things.)

Here are some of my successes -- some minor, some major, but similar to what's described in The Secret.

Before seeing The Secret, I was already attracting stuff, I just didn't realize it.
  • I've always had a "parking fairy" who consistently provided me with 10 years of parking spots when I lived in San Francisco.
  • A friend of mine told me she always wins something in any drawing -- said right before she went to a prize drawing. She won a San Francisco 49ers tee shirt, autographed on the spot for her by a 49er. The next time I was at a prize drawing, I thought, "I'm going to win a coffee mug or something." I won a $120 watercolor painting.
  • Two years ago, when I was living in an apartment, I had drawn a floorplan of a home I liked and taped it to a wall... and 4 months later, I acquired a home that has about 93% of the floorplan. (A carport instead of a garage, no dishwasher, and some rooms are smaller than I'd drawn.) But the home gym is bigger and nicer than what I'd pictured. Besides that, my home cost me nothing!! The seller offered it at 1/3 of his normal asking price! And my brother gave me the money to buy it!
Since seeing The Secret here are a couple things:
  • While shopping at a Goodwill type store last week, I found a bed frame I loved (heavy metal sleigh-bed headboard and footboard). I pulled it out, and it was unwieldy. I thought, "I need help" and 5 seconds later, a customer offered to help me. As we started carrying it to the register, a clerk came up to me and insisted on helping. (Usually, clerks are hard to find, and they have never offered to help me before.) ---- Here's what makes this incident truly unusual: I thought "I need help" with calmness, focus, and clarity -- not in my previous defeated mood/thought pattern of "I need help but I'll never get it."
  • And lastly, a huge change in my life since discovering The Secret: I've taken several strides down a new career path -- the one I've been dreaming of for many many years. (Usually I can "see" the success and rewards that are coming to me, but sometimes I can't.)
That may all seem like trivia and coincidence, but when I knew I'd find that rare San Francisco parking space, I did. Every time.

Personally, I see the Law of Attraction as prayer. Pure authentic prayer. And I do not consider it incompatible with religion. Other disagree, and that's fine.

I intend to continue attracting the things and the life I want. Hope you decide to give it a try!!!

the secret

I read the secret by Rhonda Byrns. It about Laws of Attraction. I make an attempt to send out postive vibes. Think postive, be postive. Its hard at first, after a while it will become second nature. Its a work in progress. You must work at all the time. I love it I feel I'm living the life God wants me to.

I absolutely believe in the law of attraction.

I think that, just as some people are better than others at swimming, at boxing, at math, at telling jokes, some people are better than others at attracting. I think natural god-given ability plays into it, but the more ya practice anything, the better you get at it, no matter your beginning ability level.

no. Not as it is presnted in "The Secret"

I belive you reap what you sow, and that treating others well is a good way to be treated well in return, and I belive in being grateful for what I have and striving for more, But I do not belive that I can conjer up my dream house/job/spouse by thinking positive, any more than I belive that bad things happen because of negative thoughts. No one gets raped, or sick or anything else because they sent out the wrong 'vibes'.

Hello! I just joined this forum. I've been looking for more low carb recipes and found this great site! How's that for manifestation?

Anyway I've been an LOAer for about a year. And since applying the principles, great things have been happening! I actually started getting into LOA from a book called, "Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting" which referred to Abraham Hicks.
And one thing lead to another and I picked up the book Ask and It Is Given.
I've manifested getting on a free list where I get weekly CD's! I've gotten links to seeing the Secret with Esther and links to listen to her on the Oprah and Friends on XM radio! All for free!

Those 'vibes' are actually how you are FEELING. That's the most important things. You can put out 'vibes' that you want something, but if you're feeling like it will never happen or you have doubt, then it will never happen. Just start feeling good and joyful. And things start to happen!

I decided to apply LOA to my weight loss journey. Actually I call it my 'Health Journey'. And I started listening to my body and asking what I need to do to get to my Health goals. The first thing was eating fruit first thing in the morning. Then eating fish, chicken, turkey and I've even started eating sushi! and adding lots of veggies. I've lost 25 pounds and counting! LOL I thank the universe everyday for the body and health that I have right NOW! So being okay with where you are right now is very important. And then FEELING good! When I eat, I thank the universe (God) for the healthy food I'm about to make a part of me.

It really is a mind set and attitude! Once you get the hang of it, it becomes effortless!

Hi, Flowerchild66. I was already into LOA when I picked up the 5-CD audiobook "Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting" from the library. It's great! It's read by the author and she speaks with real emotion and intensity. I was surprised when she talked about manifesting -- really good to listen to her LOA experiences!

Would you feel comfortable sharing info on these cool freebies!?! What sort of free CDs? Music? Downloads or actual CD? I'll have to check out XM radio.

The weekly CD's that I get are a private list. I was invited to join. I get an Abraham Hicks CD, listen to it for a week, send it off to someone else and then get another CD. I've been on this list for about a year and it's been a wonderful journey!

The XM Radio interviews and The Secret with Esther viewing for free are no longer available. I double checked before posting any links. But the point was I put it to the universe to get more information and it started flooding to me!

I've recently put it out to the universe that I wanted to teach more fitness classes and job offers are flooding in! LOL So be careful what you put out there!

There is a really great Abraham Hicks forum!

Yes! Listening to the body is the way to go! It will tell you! Appreciate and listen and watch what happens!

Flowerchild, yes, I realized that "the point was I put it to the universe to get more information and it started flooding to me!" Sorry if I neglected to make that clear in my prior post. Thank you for sharing examples of how LOA has been working in your life and thank you too for the additional info on your free CDs. I'm glad they're Hicks CDs -- great stuff! I borrow CDs from the local library and I do love that. They have an amazing collection of spiritual and LOA stuff.

Oh no need to apologize. I was so excited about all the things flooding to me. That's why the '!' at the end.

If you ever get a change to go to a workshop, do it! I'm actually going to one in a couple of weeks. I'm so excited.

I was able to find an LOA meet up group in my area that meets every other week. You might be able to find something in your area at meetup.com

Peace and joy
