I'm scared...DH in the hospital
He quit smoking 15 mos ago, but this afternoon was having chest pains and his face and arms were numb, and short of breath. I took him to the ER, and they decided to keep him. His BP was like 185/100 when we got there. They gave him a nitro-glycerine pill and an aspirin, did an EKG (normal) and took a bunch of blood.
They wanted to keep him overnight because he's 54 and used to smoke and they want to run more tests tomorrow. I came home, after he was in his room and getting sleepy. His BP went down and he feels fine now. What's ironic is he had just told me he wanted to excercise and do Atkins with me, because he's gained about 30 lbs since he quit smoking and feels so out of shape. Niether one of us has had high BP or Cholesterol. Never been in the hospital. Get our physicals once a year. I came home tonite to let the furbaby out after he went to sleep. He feels fine now, but I'm still worrying. I'll be getting up and going in by 7. Just wanted to unload and ask for your prayers. Never been through anything like this before. Michelle |

Wow...that is scary. I am so glad they decided to keep him so they can watch him for you. Try to get some rest tonight so you can be there for him in the morning. Hugs!

Thank you. Dont know how much sleep I'll get. He was fine and telling me to leave, but now I feel like I should be there for him. Like I said, we've never really been sick before. thanks for being out there for me...

Anytime one's spouse is in the hospital with things like that is scary. Mine went in 10/25 and they found out his tumor was stage 2. It grew to that size in 4 months. I ran the gamut from everything OK to being alone. He had to stop smoking and he did. He's OK - had radiation and now no cigs after 40 years of smoking. I signed him up at 24 Hour Fitness where I go and can't get him there yet. I'm glad that yours wants to exercise and do Atkins. Mine is not overweight but should exercise daily.

It can be so scary, but I doubt they would let you stay with him all night anyway, would they? You would end up in some waiting room chair somewhere, and be totally fried in the morning. Just reassure yourself that he is in the best possible place tonight should he need any help. I am sure he will be home with you soon, and you guys can work together at getting his extra 30 pounds off. Tell him WTG on quitting smoking, BTW. He may not have been so lucky today if he were still a smoker...

The really hard part is we live in our RV during the week up here in MD, stayed this weekend, cause we needed to work tomorrow. Our family and home is in NC though. It's hard being away from our family dueing something like this. I'm just thinking too much... Thanks for your thoughts and prayers...

Are they going to do any sort of stress test on him? Do they suspect any blockages? I sure hope he feels better soon and that it was nothing serious. I am thinking of you both! Prayers said...
